Beat Bradley 3X. Get it right. lol j/k, but that decision was still ridiculous. I thought it was closer than what a lot of people thought but it was still a clear Pacquiao win.
I was talking about him post the Marquez KO. The first Bradley fight was prior to JMM 4.
I agree, he is a lot more timid now, he's transformed into a pick your spots type of boxer -- but it goes to show how great a boxer that guy was/is to be able to go 5-1 since, with the only loss coming at the hands of the best boxer of the generation
Rios was 31-1 when Manny pitched a shutout on him, Algieri was unbeaten and was a top ten contender at the time, beat Tim Bradley twice, and Vargas was a top ten contender as well.
No, Rios/Algieri/Vargas weren't world beaters, but they were legitimate world level contenders

he picked his shots more. he didnt try to constantly pressure guys and get them out of there which is why he didnt score any kos. he still exploded in short bursts but it was more smart boxing with an explosion here and there. did the same against floyd. outboxed him from the outside and landed the cleaner shots then tried to throw a combo here and there but floyd clinched or bent below the waist to try and negate those bursts. i guess people gave floyd credit for defense for doing those illegal moves?
Forget Pac v Floyd, that was an absolutet ravesty, both men should have been fined their purses.
In terms of Pac, yes, he has slowed down his pace but its not a mental choice. He is not psychological afraid to engage (Read timid) he just physically can't as his stamina isnt as good anymore and you know, the guy is 37 years old!
Thurman after the Chavez and Karass fights. I think he realized that his career wasn't going to last very long if he really tried to chase ko's with overrated power.
Speaking of Bute, he is frustrating to watch. He jerks back and forth shifts his arms and has about 25 movements without throwing a punch.
Lmao. Very accurate description.
It's as if he's waiting to punch without realizing that he just got hit twenty times in the meanwhile.
Camacho after the Rosario fight.

That has to be the all time, best example, good post.
Currently, I'd say Abner Mares after he got iced by Johnny Gonzalez and Pac too.
Pacquiao is timid? They rearranged algieris face a guy 4-5 inches taller that him and many years younger. He battered Bradley twice and I never once saw anything timid in him lol
The obvious answers are Lewis and Wlad. Beyond that I'm struggling to think of world class offensive fighters who drastically changed their approach after getting kod. Tyson certainly didn't, Durham didn't, hearts didn't...

Came here to post this. Pre-Rosario Camacho was absolutely beautiful to watch.
I'd add Zab Judah. Lost a lot of that killer instinct that made him special after the 'Don't-Ever-Play-With-Matches' KO loss.

Agreed...thats why he is top 2 of this era. He had to change level and did so with seeming ease...hes the competitive guy who takes his chops..learns his lessons and is not afraid to improve upon himself. Generally when he loses its because of something he has done wrong rather than what the other fighter has done right. He finds it and fixes it...simple as that.
when he lost to floyd what he did wrong was he didnt realize he couldnt win a decision against floyds boxer reputation and even though he outboxed floyd and landed the much cleaner punches he lost. he should have realized they were never going to give him the decision. what floyd did right was he realized all he had to do was survive and throw a bunch of ineffective stay away from me punches that didnt land clean. what a genius.
