Greetings,
So, as the title states, I'd like to know from boxing fans whether or not you feel Canelo has shown any improvement since fighting Floyd, regardless of how big or small said improvement is, and if he has improved, is the improvement considerable enough that if he fought Mayweather at Caneloweight? (155)
No trolling please, because this is a genuine question.

Please Note: I'm referring to pre-retirement, active fighter Floyd, not 40 year old, not-so-good-at-promoting Floyd.
It's hard to say. His only fight with someone similar is Lara, who he struggled mightily against and arguably lost to, and is also quite a stretch to call "similar" to Mayweather. We have no idea how he improved he really is.
Luckily for him there is no one similar around to test this.
I do believe I mentioned that I was referring to the active fighter version of Floyd bruv.
Oh right yeah you did, well if he fought the 2015 Floyd I would pick Canelo but if it's the 2013 Floyd he lost to then I think he loses in similar fashion.
He is pretty much the exact same guy, he was always a really good boxer but his style has limitations giving his physical abilities and attributes.
None of this stuff has changed, he still struggles when he has to chase a fight or move with a guy to land his shots. He just doesn't have the boxing knack for doing two or three things at the same time while on the move and that is really not something that can change.
Still a good boxer when he can set his feet though with good power, and has pretty good defense.
of course he's improved. He was a young green pup when he fought Floyd. Little to no big fight experience at that point. And was not at a optimal weight to boot. He still hasn't even peaked yet get's better every time out out and is just now entering his physical prime. You either just a hater or ignorant to boxing to say he hasn't gotten better. The issue is style makes fights and it will always be a bad style against Floyd. Historically Floyd has never had problems with counter punchers which is why Marquez a similar timing counter puncher as Canelo struggled badly and was white washed against Floyd. Yet Manny who Marquez knocked out cold won more rounds against Floyd then Marquez did. Aggressive come forward fighters have won more rounds and been more competitive against floyd then counterpunchers. Nobody thinks a crude one dimensional fighter like Maidana is a better fighter then Marquez who is a first ballot HOF but his style gives Floyd more trouble so his fight was closer. Floyd a defensive counter puncher himself is not going to be beaten by a counter puncher who try and out think and out skill Floyd. If they fought now the fight would be closer but Canelo likely still loses unless Floyd is compromised by age and long layoff or Canelo fights totally different out of his comfort zone.
By nature Canelo is not a brawler or chaser and guys who can apply that type of pressure have had more success against Floyd. And even fighting that style don't guarantee you win, Floyd has NEVER been beaten and has accomplished so much for a reason he's that damn good if Canelo is never good enough to beat him that's not a knock there is countless hall of famers who couldn't either.
I would pick him to beat Floyd now but not because he's improved imo, but because of how Floyd has detoriated since their fight and been retired around 18 months... too old and small.
Canelo was always really good and Floyd had to be extremely sharp to do what he did that night.

I think he has improved a lot and continues to improve with every fight. I think his power, accurate fast combinations and vicious body punching would beat Mayweather.

That's all he could do, he was weight drained
if he had tried to press the action and be more aggresive and impose his size on Floyd, he would have gassed much sooner, nor to mention that's not his style
people act as if Floyd schooled Canelo from beginning to end, that's bs.
the first half of the match was competitive, with Floyd winning the rounds by just a couple punches and mainly due to a big difference in speed. Floyd took control after the 6th round after Canelo's stamina started to wane.
That been said, Floyd is a bad style for Canelo, too elusive for a flat footed fighter like ginger, and a better counterpuncher too. Canelo needs aggresive fighters in order to shine.
Even if Canelo hadn't been zombified, I dont fancy his chances against a focused Floyd. The match would have been way closer but Floyd would have probably outpointed him anyway. Floyd would have ran a marathon that night, though
Bruh....he got outclassed
Excuses are for losers
...after contracts signed all excuses are null....he weighed 153 vs trout ...come on man
He fought the way he always does....flat footed trying to time shots n pick his spot.....the game plan sucked... He should've tried to impose his size, cut off the ring

Stop lying. He looked like a cancer patient at weigh in
He was weight drained at the press conference
they had to bring him a chair because he couldn't stay up
he fought lethargic and gassed after the 6th round
Canelo has been traumathized ever since, that's why he created Caneloweight right after the Floyd match
when they asked a couple years ago about a possible catchweight fight with Pacquiao, Canelo said:
NEVER AGAIN. Pac needs to come to my weight. I learnt my lesson with Floyd, I'll never fight outta my weight class again.
Canelo is refusing to concede any weight advantages ever again after the coward Floyd punked him

He's improved tremendously, but I still think Floyd schools him, especially in a rematch having that experience. It's just a horrible stylistic matchup for Canelo. He still has those cement feet and will always struggle against movers.
Yes he has improved vastly in ring generalship.
Who cares about beating Floyd since Floyd is old, retired and it would be at 155,,, I would favor canelo
So many tears....
The fight was years ago, he didn't fight like he was drained, he simply got outclassed by a better fighter
The guy weighed 153 just before this fight n never fought over 154 prior....crybaby Floyd haters lol

Yes. for starters, he's not fighting as a weight drained zombie anymore, like he did against Floydette
That alone is a huge improvement. the guy was unable to even make 154 anymore at that point, much less a cowardly bs catchweight of 152

yes. floyd's style would still be wrong for him becuase canelo is primarily a boxer and counterpuncher himself, but he has made a ton of improvement. he was also a young guy when he fought floyd, and looked like a starving young guy when he weighed in at 152
When Floyd fought nelo. Nelo had no resume, had beaten noboidy and was probably PFP about 40 in the world. He was bigger than Floyd though that's what made it interesting. But Floyd drained an y advantage away from nelo.
At least nelo has beaten a few people since Floyd loss. So you assume he has improved
