There is a Canelo rating thread on FP at the moment.
Most votes seem to be very fair. with the average coming in around B+/ A with some very fair anaylsis.
Given constant speculation and comparison between the two, i thought I'd see what posters thought of GGG.
Please base your ratings off the same criteria that you may have used to vote in the other thread.
I say B+. My reasoning is because so far, he's looked excellent, but his level of opposition has been sub par. Jacobs is the best fighter he'll face to date. If he beats him convincingly, I'll put him at A.
The problem is they have fooled the entire boxing world by him fighting mostly bums, a ww is his best win right now. Beating Jacobs (who is NOT A level) cannot make him A level. A B+ fighter wouldn't even have bothered fighting Wade, or a ww, when he was ducking many fighters at 168, while demanding other fighter HAVE to come to 160 to fight him, such as brook saying initially a 157 cw, and even though that so far is gaylovekin's biggest money fight, it's still pathetic. A B+ fighter needs to beat A level fighters to prove he's a level. This dickeater has gotten so many passes on his opposition level, it's truly sad and pathetic (like LouCipher). C+ is all I give.

Why would beating Jacobs make him an A fighter? Where would you rate Jacobs on the thread scale? Is Jacobs an A fighter or anywhere near elite? I don't get it.
And Jacobs will be his best opponent so far.
March 18 is the answer!
Good question.
I will withhold my rating until after the Jacobs fight. For all i know Golovkin could an elite ATG, he certainly looks it. Won't truely know until he faces an elite level of competition.
He has fought many solid contenders and KO's them all, without any close fights and not losing more than 2 rounds.
Jacobs, being the #1 contender at his weight is the measuring stick we've all been waiting for.
For me, assuming Golovkin wins, it's all about HOW he wins, not if he wins.
I rated him an A but that might be too generous of a rating. I'm a GGG fan but I don't like the way he gets hit so often. His beard might be A+...maybe, but even the best chin can get cracked.
He had better tread very carefully in his fight with Jacobs. If he can withstand bombs from Jacob then his chin must be something extraordinary. I'd rather see him avoid those bombs though because he's way too old to be getting hit from hard punchers. That takes a big toll on fighters and he doesn't need anymore wear and tear to hasten the natural decline of a fighter who is entering his late 30's.
As I rated Saul Alvarez a B+, I'd have to say Gennady Golovkin isn't far behind. I rated GGG a B. If he can unify all the belts in his next two fights he will move up to a B+. Needs to challenge himself at higher weightclasses if he wants to reach A-class.
He gets hit plenty at the level he's fighting at.
What does that tell you?
Adama doesn't even have a level and he busted his nose up.
everyone isnt a defensive master..there are different styles
