I notice a lot of short guys (5'6 and below) get buff but they still look like kids. No offense, I have nothing against short people. Just an observation.
Height is a clear tie breaker at the world class level where two guys have been trained to their maximum potential and simply having 1" longer arms or being 1" taller can win you the jabbing war.
However its comical what a big deal guys make out of height in street fights or the gym. It's like someone who doesn't even know how to drive worrying that they're in last season's 1 milisecond slower formula 1 car.
lol but anyway being taller gives you certain advantages but they can be overcome
I came here just to post that clip, but I prefer this one. That sh1t never gets old. 'Mike Tyson baby, Mike Tyson!'
All things equal, the bigger man will tend to beat the smaller man. "A good big man will beat a good man". It's really that simple. Of course, anything can happen in a fight, and it's rare that all things will be perfectly equal in a fight. Like one poster said, height is an advantage that has to be overcome.
Height is an advantage, but not as big of an advantage as natural weight and size.
That's why boxing, wrestling, MMA and other combat sports have weight divisions, not height divisions.

There is an old saying that sums it up .
Its not the size of the dog in the fight its the size of fight in the dog .
short buff guys do worse then short skinny guys lol. Short naturally stocky guys can do well though. they have big structures but are just short. Jacked up little man sydnrome dudes probably fair the worst
On the street people tend to stand and trade not use reach. So it's not so much that. Obviously being bigger is generally an advantage in everything. I have found that the nastiest most vicious guys tend to be the smaller ones. I think even gangland bears this out. Casso, Gravano, Spilotro, or the Krays and Frank Fraser.Smaller guys are more likely to stab you while you throw left jabs lol.
LMAO but to answer the question I've seen short guys beat taller guys using grappling and takedowns. Rarely can a shorter guy beat a much taller guy just standing up in the streets
I agree, but this is a boxing forum. Change your avatar, wankstain.
Height can be an advantage, or a disadvantage.
A guy with shorter arms, if allowed to dictate the distance, and pace of the fight, can get on the inside, and turn his hooks and uppercuts over faster.
It's all about who can enforce their attributes - IMO, though,it is easier to enforce a height advantage. Although short guys can master implementing their inside game - bobbing and weaving under jabs, and doubling jabbing to get inside, where they can set up vicious hooks to the head and body, as seen int his video.
ya all the bumrushing. bobbing and weaving also translates to more work. they need a much better gas tank.
it's an advantage to be taller with more reach. it's even more of an advantage in MMA because of the plum clinch.
all the P4P's are tall for their weight class.
Jon Jones. Anderson. GSP. Conor. etc
NOPE. I am 5'8 and my smaller size has helped me with SPEED and knocking out LHWs in my gym. AND TO CLARIFY, I dont work out much, maybe twice every 3 months.
