...cuz that fight was just heating up. I couldn't have called that it would go down like that...for a guy who's looked durable and never been down to look that susceptible? They were both fighting a good fight but j rock looked like he had the edge in skill. Did he try to exchange too much?
Read my second response. Wasn't Ward also accused of having a weak chin before the Kovalev fight? Williams finished that round strong. Charlo is a big guy and hits hard and that jab will put down a lot of 154 fighters. Especially one like J-Rock who was doing a lot of reaching and taking chances in that fight. It's not always the chin. Getting caught with well timed shots while you're off balance and don't see those shots coming doesn't mean you have a weak chin. It means you need to tighten up on your defense
I get what you're saying...but his chin has to be questioned, if not for any other reason than fighters with good chins routinely take those kind of shots. It's obvious that there's a lot more that goes into ko's other than punching power and chin...they have to meet somehow. But that said, that's the last line of defense and once it's cracked, it can't be uncracked.
J-Rock came back and did really well after the jab knock down, he did get wobbled but it is not like he was totally ****ed up either or the round would not have went the way it went.
Jrock did the Zab Judah after being dropped by a jab.......yeah his chin is suspect, no way to spin that.
I was just surprised how little Jrock looked in the ring compared to Charlo.
He hit him flush with an uppercut coming forward. Chin ain't got nothing to do with that. What 154lber would've survived that shot? It's not his chin, he took a chance and reached and got caught with a perfect shot.
He got dropped from a jab in the 2nd round too.
Haven't watched the fight yet, was out celebrating my bday...
I'm in total shock that jrock got dropped multiple times and stopped... I thought he could lose a decision by not being aggressove enough, but never thought he would get dropped n stopped
Yea he should have held and the fight didn't need to be stopped there imo...charlo didn't land any of his follow up shots cleanly. I doubt it woulda made a difference...the range he was fighting at coupled with his inability to handle the power was a bad mix. It was probably a matter of time. Who knows tho...if it went deep i think j rocks edge in skill would have just become more evident...he was really boxing beautifully.
That troll is the biggest casual on this forum.
There isn't a JMW on the planet that could've took that uppercut. It's the punches you don't see that put you out.
Exactly. These noobs are so quick to label Williams' chin as glass just because he got hit with an uppercut that would have knocked out anyone.
Williams got caught but i thought he was doing real good up to that point.
Dude lost in 5 and you still think Williams would have won in 12, give Charlo his props. 90% of this forum was crapping on him hust yesterday and he got J-Rock out of there is 5.
And watching the fight, J-Rock basically showed us every thing he had. He was doing a lot of stuff in that ring. Charlo on the othwr hand didn't have to go into another orbit. He fought the same from round 1 through 5. Because he didn't have to change up.
My instinct is that charlo would have caught him in an exchange eventually...i said it "could have" gone williams way. That's why it's a shame the fight got cut short...it was entertaining and building. One of those fights i feel ripped off when it doesn't go rounds. Props to charlo.
It's unfortunate some boxers have too much pride on holding when hurt... I mean even GGG holds...
The only reason Jrock lost was because he didn't hold. If you've lost the round for getting sparked, there's no need to milk out safety and regroup. The best of the best have done it for ages.
Give Charlo his respect. Dude was hurting him with a Jab. Only a matter of time hold or no hold

Uppercut was what it was...he was shakey before that tho. That jab knockdown surprised the **** out of me.
Looked durable? What murderous puncher had he fought exactly?
In a more crude way, what even half decent fighter had he fought(dude has an alarming red flag draw to Chia Santana)?
J rock literally had all question marks. People really need to hold their hype back.
People were just really hoping J rock panned out because they already saw Charlo look like sh*t and IMO lose to Trout.
...or people like j rock cuz he has an old school fighter's mentality, is a student of the game and shows nice skills. Nothing wrong with hoping a guy like that succeeds. It's nice to see a fighter use technical ability and little tricks of the trade...it's refreshing to watch. I prefer that over guys who are technically flawed but get by on pure athleticism.
Even if J-Rock had a great chin I believe Jermall would still have won. He was better all the way around. He was faster with his hands and his footwork was faster and better. he was the better boxer and the harder puncher. J-Rock is not very good at the world champion level.
I must have been watching a different fight. Charlo started off with the edge in jabs but j rock started countering it real nice and he was mixing in some nice right leads and body shots...he was just a bit to eager to bring the fight to charlo and was getting caught in exchanges.
