Can't believe how fast time goes by. I remember how confident I was that Pacquiao was getting stopped. Did you guys order it? bet money on Pacquiao? Any story you want to share about this event? lol

This was sweet revenge for an obvious cherry pick. Hoya shouldve fought Margarito but cherry picked pacquiao, who in turned performed 1000 x better than Lil fraud I.V. weather.
He was exhibiting effective ring control by walking him down, most of Pac's punches were hitting gloves/shoulders. Not sure why Oscar let up but Pac took the opportunity so fair play to him for beating an old fighter.
LOL I think he's serious.
I'll never forget how many people thought De La Hoya was gonna Win. I think he was even the betting favorite. He was past his prime but everyone thought the size difference was too much. Great fight
I remeber it like it was yesterday; Oscar dominated the early rounds but Pac managed to turn it around only because he was in better shape. I think a rematch would have gone very differently if DLH was motivated.
:lol1::lol1:
You must be trolling, Pac showed a lot of respect for Oscar in the early rounds but even so was clearly winning them all. Couldn't miss with the left hand.
Wait...what! I think you're talking about a different fight. I think DLH was given one round out of pity at best.

If there is any fighter that would Magically bring his prime years back it would have to be Pacquiao man. Not this 400 punches per fight Pacquiao not this boxer-counter puncher Pacquiao that only now replies with counters. I want the Pacquiao that raped Oscar with his fish nets.
Manny had to be on something; dude missed like 900 punches vs clottley; manny aint that old for that type of drop off
I recall hard down arguing with my brother that Manny was about to give Oscar the worse ass whooping of his life, and long behold I was right.....This was around the time Oscar was getting his ass kicked, and in the process of ducking both Cotto/Margarito so even Oscar doubted his skillset then; on top of that on the 24/7 Oscar who always had unrivaled had speed looked slow as hell on the pads; I knew he was in for a brutal beaten.
Oscar was also 35 and coming down to a weight he hadn't been at in 7 1/2 years.
It's funny how people discredit Floyd's win over Oscar but credit Pacquaio
Funny thing is, Pac is older than Oscar was and people expect him to drop to 140 for Crawford, a weight he hasn't fought at in over 7 years.

oscar was way up on the cards when he had to retire because he was so drained. what a shame
There's only so much you can achieve until you've done it all, that's what Oscar realized in between round and decided to go out on top.

This was the fight that really got me into boxing. I didn't know all the particulars (catch weights, A side/B side, etc.) about boxing back then, but I remember seeing a typhoon of a boxer in Pac Man.
Once I got to know more about boxing, I thought that Pac had drained DLH, but I'm glad yall are reminding me that DLH was definitely the A side and set the terms.
For the record, I picked Manny by close decision. De La Hoya looked old against Forbes who just wasn't good enough to exploit De La Hoya's age.
I was surprised at how bad Oscar looked against Pac. I thought even a weight drained De La Hoya would still make the fight competitive even while losing.
Being past his prime was one thing, but being weight drained was why he got dominated so easily. The look on De La Hoya's face when Nacho said he was stopping the fight told the whole story.
Oscar was at a crossroads and you can tell by the look in his eyes that he just had nothing left anymore, not just for that fight, but for his career. That's why I can't criticize Oscar too much for quitting. It's not right to kick a man when he's down and when he realizes he just doesn't have it anymore.
Hindsight can diminish everything, especially when you're trying to reason an incorrect prediction. So whatever excuses any of us can come up with for Hoya, one thing is abundantly clear: Manny was exceptionally prepared that night. From the very start of the fight to the last minute of the fight it was evident Manny had a great training camp and he was prepared to face the very best version of Oscar De La Hoya.
