Conor Mcgregor is only 28 years old, Floyd may have made more money but Mcgregor still has plenty of room to grow.
Will Mcgregor ever surpass Floyd in PPV sales and revenue?
Definitely.
But will McGregor reach the heights Floyd did in his 30's?
Doubt it.
in terms of popularity maybe but that's it, no MMA fighter will ever surpass floyd,
... except that he doesn't have a ways to go
Even under the rosiest of projections (the UFC doesn't release the actual numbers on anything they don't have to), McGregor's current take on his fights is on the short side of an 80-20 split with the UFC.
Floyd, at the age of 28, just made over $3m to fight Arturo Gatti (and the fighters seemingly walking away with the lion's share of a 70-30 split on the fight), with Floyd basically looking at north or 80-20 splits on fights for the rest of his career.
McGregor likely gets no bigger than he is right now (unless the UFC actually decides to give him a stake in his fights)

Ask again in two years
Then it will be is our latest UFC star bigger than floyd
Stupid f#cking question for sure.
Its not even something you can directly compare cuz while Conor does have room to grow MMA lifespans are shorter & different than boxing lifespans. In boxing once you're famous your famous to some extent. Meanwhile Anthony Pettis who made it onto the Wheaties box one year is mostly doing co-main events the next year. MMA is unforgiving & the caliber of opposition you fight is higher & riskier.
Why don't you answer the question instead of making excuses like a sensitive weak ass f1omo?
Floyd at 28 wasnt just " some boxer ".. he has been getting million dollar paydays even before the gatti fight...
Lots of boxers are getting big paychecks but he was just some boxer. He was not a crossover celebrity. Teenage girls who don't watch sports know who Mcgregor is.
By far. Google says 28 was leading up to the Gatti fight. He was still just some boxer back then.

I don't think McGregor can pass because he doesn't have a Canelo, De La Hoya, and Pacquiao.
Like most MMA fighters, he'll lose eventually and his shine will come down.
I know he lost to Diaz he but he somewhat redeemed himself in the rematch so he didn't take much of a loss to his "aura"
A loss is a loss. The effect wasn't that big.
McGregor is a mainstream celebrity these days. People who aren't into sports at all know of him like they know of bratt pitt or michael jackson or whatever. Maybe not at that level, but floyd was always just a boxer.
HBO and Arum tried damn hard to make Floyd into a star, he was the chosen boy of boxing from 1996 on wards but till Oscar gave him his rub and the Pacquiao rivarly exploded, Mayweather never did McG type numbers...ever.
