People keep on ****ting on PBC but Lomachenko on primetime does less numbers than an afternoon fight like lil g vs Brook
That doesn't answerr his question..
Why would fans get upset??
Of course it answers it. A fan should get upset at a guy if he demanded a purse that would kill a fight. If I knew a fight would only happen if each fighter takes $1 million, I'd have no choice but to be upset if a guy demands $1.5 million, not because of what he's demanding, but because what he's demanding is killing the fight.
again, there is zero marketing and promotion for boxing and boxers, and if there is some, it's old, outdated, boring, and most of the time, flat out garbage.
Lomachenko can only do so much to get the casual fans attention without being sensationalized. his skills definitely have it, but outside the ring... on the mic... dull, boring, flat, nothing to see, nothing to entice you to make sure you follow and watch his career.
at least mayweather knew how to market himself, create the demand, and didn't care who he pissed off doing so, because it all translated into MONEY and Ratings.
get on the mic, call people out, step into the ring after someones fight and call them out, create a demand, manufacture up a buzz, call other fighters B^%ches, do something, because if not, low numbers will be all you get.
Well boxing is a business. Fights can't get done without taking into consideration about what each fighter makes. If a promoter has $1 million to split between 2 fighters, what a boxer wants is what decides whether a fight gets made.

I think this goes for all boxing matches but the main event start to damn late. They need to start the events earlier.
To stay on topic I'm a big Loma fan but he's not a draw yet. Only 8 pro fight so it should be understandable that he's not mainstream yet. Give him another 10-12 fights and I think at the rate he's going he'll be a household name.
That's depressing... :( Ward v Barrera did better. I know Loma isn't 'big' yet but he with the push they're giving him I thought he's do over 1m vs a solid opponent. Between that and the Ward/Kov numbers, this is just bad news for boxing, no matter who you like or dislike.
It is, I thought his performance versus Martinez would have certainly garnered more attention to his next bout, whomever that would've been. Back to back superb performances against solid guys, you hope people take notice. I think Motorcity has a point though, ratings in general seemed to have decreased with the budget.
why are people so upset at what boxers make?

It was a damn good fight Loma put on a show
That was not a fight for casuals to watch. It was a great performance by Loma. I agree. But it was a one sided quit job.
But the ratings were good before they cut the budget. The ratings are because of the lower budget
Showtime is spending more than ever and their ratings are far worse than HBO's. Their best rating of the year is like 500k?
It was never going to do big numbers. That's why I said back in May or June, during the first time they tried to negotiate with Walters, that you can't pay both of them $1M each. People were outraged by the split and were demanding it should be split evenly and both fighters should make 850K each or 1M each and there just isn't that kind of money in this type of weight class with these two fighters. Walters last fight with Sosa did around 300K viewers on HBO and Lomachenko's last fight with Roman Martinez avg. 585K viewers. On the bright side you could say that 715K or w/e this fight got, is an improvement. But these low numbers are what you should expect from these two fighters.
Not a bad improvement and as hes only had 8 fights most casual fans still won't know who he is, which will explain the talk from Arum about a possible Pac fight. I would imagine his viewing figures will start to rise fairly quickly now as more people start to listen to the hype.
Honestly, they did a pizz pour job with the whole event. The damned thing didn't start until around eleven o'clock in my neck of the woods and the crowd was very uninspired, probably from drowsiness over waiting so long. I can definitely see more people watching an afternoon fight.
Yeah, I thought it would end at maybe 7:30.. Ended closer to 10. Four hour drive from Vegas to LA, ended up getting home at 2.
Larry, it wasn't a good fight.
I was practically ringside... It wasn't a good fight until the last round.
The undercard was great though.
Walters did legitimately nothing in the fight besides one head shot and a body shot.

Larry, mah dood, a one sided affair is NOT a good fight. Especially when you have a dude quitting. Not hurt, not a scratch on him, barely sweating and he quit.
LOL at Chocolatito fans getting mad (not talking about anyone in this thread) because Loma is getting paid more than Roman.
If I were HBO I wouldn't invest much into Roman. Chocolatito is almost done. You can see it from his last two fights. He probably only has one or two, at most, good years left in him.
That's the truth. It's not a hate comment. If you don't believe me just watch.
Loma will hopefully get three to four fights next year. Chocolatito will get two. Hopefully that stings those guys more.
Chocolatito is almost done.
