I wanted to imagine Thurman-Cotto being competitive, then I pictured a Cotto left hook to the body and my mind was made up. I think you can figure out the rest from there. Williams destroys everyone, although given the southpaw stance and power Spence has, I give him a shot if he can box effectively. Thurman and Garcia hate getting hit too much to stand a chance, and what exactly can Brook realistically do against him? Prime Margarito's chin, size and relentless style are just unfair at WW, the only guy on this list I give anyone a decent shot at is Clottey because he's notorious for deciding to stop fighting in the late rounds.

For the first time since it's a fair comparison, you got some legit welter talent developing. Just puts into perspective what Pac did. Imagine a guy that was at 130 not long ago going up and routing the top 4 guys in 18 months.

who you got. clottey, williams, margarito, cotto. vs thurman, porter, spence, brook. first match......porter vs margarito. I say porter wins this. marg never in any point of his career knew how to deal with smothers. mosley smothered him & at certain points of the willams fight willams smothered his work rate. porter is stronger then marg (physical wise not power) and marg is slow. i see porter smothering him and getting off first quickly off the break. 2nd fight: willams vs brook. competitive fight but willams ends up pulling a UD with sure work rate & out hustling brook. 3rd match thurman vs cotto. hard hard match. i wanted to say cotto steam rolls thurman but not so fast. I certainly think thurman is much better then the zab cotto fought & both zab & thurman play the same outside game with the "stinger" thurman has 2 stingers instead of one unlike zabs one left. i also think thurman is on par if not better then the mosley cotto fought. but in the end I gave it A SD to cotto. 4th match. clottey vs spence. I Gave this one to spence.....clottey was very good but could be out boxed & tricked. also something always weird happened to clottey when he stepped up. i think spence has enough power, angles, and timing to win A clear decision in this one. how would u score it? Is this a joke? Margarito walked through Cotto, what do you think he'd do to prospect/fringe contender Spence? Or b level fighter Thurman and Porter? Or talented yet flawed Brook? Cotto is a top, top tier fighter, do the current guys hold a flame to him? Cmon, Williams would woop these guys into the middle of next week and Clottey would at least give them a tough, physical test.

You should add Mosley to 2008 welters and Garsia to 2016 welters. Then it will be obvious 2008 win. Also I can see Clottey winning all 2016 welterweights. 2016 welterweights don't have nor great speed nor great defence nor great punch output. I think Clottey would have chased them behind high guard and punched them with sharp shots.

i really can't say much about spence at this stage, and i don't want to speculate about whether or not i'm looking at margarito in '08 with plaster in his gloves. cotto and williams would be an absolute handful for porter, spence, and thurman. cotto had terrific boxing skills. very hard puncher at WW, too. harder than thurman without any question. he had problems with punchers, and against austin trout he had trouble with the reach. thurman, porter, and brook aren't that kind of fighter. i think truly prime cotto makes them all look ordinary. if they wanted the punishment he'd probably hurt them and knock them out. punchers chance, given cotto's less than amazing chin. as for williams, that guy was enormous. you have to figure that they'd all have trouble with his height, reach, and natural weight. and his left handedness. and his activity. and his chin. pressure from a tall southpaw is not typical pressure! what you had to do with williams was punch! he had a great chin, but it was not hard to find. i think thurman's got the style to sneak out a win. think carlos quintana, sergio martinez. be cute, land a bomb, and get out. all have a good shot at beating clottey, but he might have something for them and get a decision. great chin, according to unnoficial weigh ins he was about as big as a WW can get. smart about picking shots, responsible on defense, but not a big puncher in spite of his size and definitely beatable.

2016 - s should stop talking shi1t and start fighting each other, like 2008-s did.

I got 2016 up 2 to 1 with Porter and Margarito being a toss up. PWill over Kell for the lone 2008 win.

I would probably take 2008 because I think Williams and Cotto are the best and would find a way to beat all of the guys in 2016 even though I think clottey and Margs are the worst of this group an wouldn't beat anyone in 2016. You gotta put Clottey up there seeing that he arguably beat Cotto and gave Margarito a hell of a fight. And 2008 by a slight margin.

Margarito and Cotto probably whip everyone 2016 has. Not a guarantee, but much more likely than not. Hard to imagine most of 2016 dealing with Williams, either.
