Berto isn't the official opponent yet to be fair. So that could change, but he seems like the most likely guy at this point. If you need proof just google both of their names & I'm sure some info about this rumored Sept 24(?) fight will pop up. Its definitely been mentioned around here too so you probably just missed those threads.
So I guess if Berto gets dropped as an opponent than maybe my stance would loosen up a bit, but I still feel like the last ~3 years of Garcia's career has mostly been wasted even if Thurman or Porter ended up being next.
word I dont see a point in fighting berto at this moment.
Okay take out Spence. I don't give a f#ck lol. I was just throwing out names of fights I'd like to see.
Without Spence, two of the guys mentioned called Garcia out directly for their next opponent & he's fighting Berto next & its a solid bet we won't see him fight til the 2nd quarter of 2017 with his recent activity level.
Where did I say that? The Peterson fight is the only fight I've been happy with in the last ~3 years of Garcia's.
Don't make me go google the top ten of 147 for the last 3 years brother lol. I think after the Matthysse W any top ten guy is where Garcia's career should have been focused & I believe the only top ten guy he fought for sure was Peterson (although at a catchweight so that probably takes some pts from him for that, like GGG fighting Brook, although thats a point I got no passionate debate for or against, just saying) & I think its possible Guerrero was hovering just inside or outside the top ten if that Martinez fight didn't drop him further down. Mainly right now I'd like to see him fight the guys mentioned.
honeslty this is the 1st im hearing of a berto fight. Source? but i see your point on the other points as well :D
Yep. Thurman called him out and he didn't do anything. Joke
Also seems like hes avoiding crawford too after talking tough on twitter. Now not a single peep from him, DSG is a joke
Sad. He is undefeated and nobody gives a damn about him
Nothing sad about it homie.
Dude ducks more than the dynasty, and is like 5th in his own division. Didn't want it with monsters like Floyd and Maidana when the division was hot, doesn't want it with Bradley, Thurman, Brook and Porter who rule the division now.
Even casuals see through the self-hype. He's a dead man walking.
You don't think?
Fighting Berto next apparently while under the same banner as Thurman, Porter & Spence & two of those 3 have directly called him out.
Fought Guerrero previously who arguably should be 1-3 in his last 4 fights cuz of a disputed decision to Aron Martinez previous to fighting Garcia.
Fought my boy Paulie M before that who was 1-2 in his last 3 going into the fight & was last KO'd by Porter over a year previous to Garcia.
Fought Peterson before that which was the clear 1 vs 2 fight at 140 for a year or two, but Garcia didn't fight him til after he got flattened by Lucas & at a 143 catchweight.
Fought Salka before that...need I say more about this opponent?
Fought Herrera before that who'd lost 2 of his last 4 fights.
This is the last 3 years of Garcia's career. I don't debate you can make the Peterson fight sound better than I did & hell I was happy with that fight getting made at all even if it felt later than it shoulda been + at a catchweight, but overall for Garcia's career I feel like the last 3 years has been a waste for the most part. And I'm a Danny fan, but being reasonable about whats happened as of late I don't see how someone who's not just a Danny fanboy could be happy with the choices that have been made by Danny & his team.
The thurman fight is the interesting one imo... spence??? He just finished beating algieri a lil while back... so I have no clue why you even bring his name up. So because the Peterson fight didn't happen right away that's somehow DSG's fault?
So if not those guys who would you have had him fight? (guerrero & herrera I thought the paulie fight was pointless.)
no ones really checking for Danny either. Not too many people i know have heard of him. I can only laugh at these guys with an inflated sense of self worth.
Yea danny boy isnt ever getting taht kind of money, hes just pricing out to avoid the top names or trying to cash out because he knows he cant beat those guys. Danny is the most irrelevant 147 pounder, he doesnt beat Brook, thurman, spence,or even shawn porter.
Pacquiao, as a standalone PPV brand, is currently a diminished asset; Pacquiao-Vargas is literally a matchup that's expected to do such **** business that HBO is seemingly unwilling to make the bet on Pacquiao delivering a PPV number (if Pacquiao-Vargas does even 300k PPV buys I'd be shocked).
Danny Garcia isn't a PPV fighter at this moment, but he's a viable B-side attraction and opponent, while also having no business relationship with Top Rank. Garcia is a young star, two-division world champion, Puerto Rican American, undefeated, good punching welterweight champion and there's a clear cost to Arum to bring in that type of attraction for a Pacquiao event.
Danny Garcia has already done million gates at Barclays Center and has shown that he can sell tickets on the West Coast as well; if Garcia-Berto ends up in Las Vegas, it may not do $10m at the gate, but I don't doubt that he moves a ton of tickets anyway.
Manny Pacquiao is no longer an attraction so big that he simply dwarfs a fighter like Danny Garcia; any money conversation needs to acknowledge that. Pacquiao isn't is big is he used to be for sure but he can still sell 250k ppv in his sleep to the Filipino community in the US and Manny doesn't need Garcia. Garcia needs to look at the entire picture and not just the purse. Beating Pacquiao turns him into a superstar.
Garcia sells decent tickets on the east coast inspite of all the give aways pbc does. I told you before I went to the Guerrero fight and he didn't even sell 6,000 tickets. There were tons of giveaways. Manny is the bigger draw for sure by a lot on the west coast.
It comes down to this. It is like that Andre Berto interview I saw on this site a couple weeks ago. There are a lot of lions at 47 in Haymon's stable. Does he want to keep fighting guys in Haymon's stable for 1.5 mil or does he want 4mil for a pac fight and the chance to become a ppv star?
pac should get double if not triple the guarantee to fight Garcia. Garcia isn't even a pay per view fighter. 12mil guarantee for Pac, 4 mil for Garcia with both getting equal ppv upside after 500k buys

Danny doesnt care about the money, he only cares about legacy
and from the looks of it, his legacy will be beating more bums in succesion than any other champ ever and retiring undefeated

Danny Garcia's name has been thrown around when Floyd was still around. The Garcia father and son already made it clear they're not interested in these super fights. Don't know why they're still being asked about it.
Can't we just focus on Garcia vs Thurman? What's wrong with this fight?
Lmao Angel gotta be the most ghetto, IQ deprived mouthpiece in the entire sport
Forget the other sh*t he said in the interview, this dude had Danny #1 with Floyd behind him lmfaoooooooooooooo
i dont get it.
why is he asking for more money to fight pacquiao than floyd?
i thought floyd was the cash cow?
lol oh yea fighting floyd really isnt the golden willy wonka golden lottery ticket its made out to be.
:lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1:
I think because pacquiao is more physically deadly. At least if you lose to floyd you get paid handsomely without a scratch its like getting a massage. With pacquiao its unpredictable either you get a UD or a brutal face re construction margarito style. Or a broken ankle.
Angel didn't say $40m; he said "the same pay as Pacquiao" with $10 on whatever the upside on the PPV ends up being.
$60 price for the PPV, $8m guaranteed to Pacquiao, $8m guaranteed to Garcia, PPV upside hits once the event reaches 500k PPV buys, with Garcia taking 30% ($60 price for PPV, 50% stays in the pot, with $10 going to Garcia) of every PPV dollar beyond that.

Wow why does Angel hate Manny so much? and him yelling usa usa usa come on dude stop pandering Angel, you worse than Hilary and them democrats with that chit.
