Revisiting this round 8 between Golovkin-Stevens. That was simply a master class of a round from Golovkin. He thoroughly and systematically beat Stevens ass from the beginning of that round to the very end, beginning with a thunderous body shot. The way he worked the body in that round was beautiful to watch.
56 out of 101 power shots
Stevens surviving that to the end of the bell was amazing as well.

Not only is Canelo a better boxer than Stevens, hes also a better boxer than Golovkin. He has better reflexes, and has much faster hands with good timing and counter punch ability. It's almost like you're viewing canelo as if he was an ordinary fighter. You're not taking into account canelo's gifts (not only talking about judges here btw lol). I can't see Golovkin knocking canelo out, that won't happen. Lemieux chin was able to hold up and he was able to stay away from golovkin in terms of survival, even tho he was getting his ass beat. Canelo will be able to do that, and will be able to score points and win rounds while doing it as well because of his boxing ability. At the very least there is no way he gets stopped unless he gets caught and ko'd.
Fair enough. It's opinions man. FWIW I think that Canelo is a very solid fighter who does a couple of things very well, most notably his counterpunching, but is let down by less than stellar footwork and ring generalshup and questionable stamina - though he is certainly still improving. Is it possible he's a better boxer than GGG? Well - I suppose we'll only find out if they fight, but I'm not really seeing it.
So, you are saying that, if Canelo stands still and allows Golovkin to tee off on him, Canelo will not survive. What a profound observation. I believe Pacquaio said the same thing about Floyd Mayweather!
damn.....gooooooot eeeeeeeem!!

....Canelo is an overall better fighter with different strengths and weakness than stevens. Also two different styles.
its like saying wouldnt GGG survive the punch kirkland got ko'ed with....kind of hollow statement. how do we know GGG or Canelo wouldnt avoid the money shot altogether. too bad the fight is in limbo
What, is Canelo going to develop some Floyd like magical boxing ability over night? He's a very ordinary, average fighter. He has nothing to keep Golovkin off him. He does not the power to keep Golovkin from doing what he wants, and he doesn't have the speed and ability to outbox Golovkin for 12 rounds without suffering that same type of sustained punishment until he's done.
Canelo would be in survival mode the moment Golovkin starts to land some combos, and Golovkin is going to be able to pick his spots however he likes, and construct and beautiful and brutal beat down.
Canelo does some nice counter uppercuts off the ropes. He wouldnt give GGG a chance to tee off on him like that
I'd say that's pretty much what's likely to happen. Canelo is a better boxer than Stevens but not good enough - or busy enough - to keep GGG at bay I think. He should have a degree of success on the counter which is one of his biggest strengths, but the pace and pressure will prove too much the way I see this going. If I had to call - Corner stoppage around rnd 8 or 9 with the fight becoming increasingly lopsided as the rounds go on.Not only is Canelo a better boxer than Stevens, hes also a better boxer than Golovkin. So: in your opinion, GGG is Pacman and Canelo is FMJr, right?
... since when do you follow boxing?
I don't understand the fans that think it's a one sided fight. Why so much desire to see such a perceived mismatch? Now that GGG has the WBC belt what's the point? It's a mismatch for no belt so I don't see why the desire?
FWIW I think Canelo is a live dog.
A few wildcards to consider.
1. Canelo's chin. It's never really been tested as the guys with the skills to hurt Canelo didn't have the power and the guys with the power didn't have the skills. GGG has both.
2. GGG's lack of quality opposition. He's never really been tested in terms of having to dig deep in a fight and pull out a tough win. GGG has been a front runner his whole career against subpar competition. All I know is if Martin Murray can land 37% of his power punches, I think Canelo can do better. Interesting to see how he handles combination of skill, power, and chin?
holivkins body work is the main key vs canelo imo. That and he has a great chin canelo wont be able to breath by the fourth with the body work and pressure ggg hands out
You still can't sit there and tell me Golovkin is going to break Canelo down like that, the way you saw him doing stevens in that fight. That's just not gonna happen lol.

GGG has ancestry is from russia and korea, but mostly russia. he used to go around the streets with his brothers just to beat people up for fun. this guy has freakish strength and he's not a nice humble guy. he's a beast and a monster. thats why i give him the upper edge against canelo. i'm unable to pinpoint where canelos ancestry comes from but since he grew up in mexico i can't dissmiss him entirely. in fighting culture in mexico they grow up really tough conditions too. canelo is no pushover just because he is light skinned. but generally russians are more stronger than mexicans and are considered more brute. mexicans have more fundimentals though with a solid mix of everything.
He is just very methodical. Closest to a robot I have ever seen from a modern fighter. Everything is very precise and well thought out. To the viewer it looks slow. To the opponent it's different because he doesn't know which punch is coming. Golovkin very rarely does anything flashy. He doesn't waste punches. Everything is thrown either to hurt his opponent or set something up. It makes him an offensive machine
That said it also makes him hittable. The idea that he allows his opponent to hit him on purpose is such a joke. Canelo will have an EASY time hitting him. This is why Golovkin stays at 160. When he fights bigger guys who can take his punches it's going to be a different story. You still can't sit there and tell me Golovkin is going to break Canelo down like that, the way you saw him doing stevens in that fight. Thats the thing though, canelo has cement feet and thats one of the main reasons GGG whoops his ass. He cant move quickly and he wont be able to back GGG up like he does with smaller guys.
Does anyone notice how slow he is? He'sdamn near punching in slow motion lmao, if you don't think canelo will be competitive off of his speed and boxing ability/skills alone you're delusional.
It will be a good fight don't get me wrong, but golovkin wouldn't be able to do that to canelo, quote me on it.

It's Stevens though...
He just does not have the skill to keep up with Golovkin. Canelo would do the same thing to Stevens if not worse. Every time Stevens would throw one or two punches he would stay still with his hands up. He showed no head movement, not ability to counter. It's a different beast.

Stevens barely tried to slip anything that Golovkin through, let alone punch with Golovkin (which he ate dead on the face on the occasional times that Stevenson did punch).
Alvarez isn't going to just shell up and get beat on.
