Will the Canelo-Khan PPV bomb now force GBP/Canelo to fight Golovkin?

You been spoiled by mayweather numbers 600k is probably going to make this the biggest number of the year unless you see a Floyd comeback or maybe Canelo v GGG i haven't been spoiled by anything because i honestly can care less about someone elses money but all i ever hear is how canelo is such a star that he can fight anyone because he is such a star but those ppv numbers don't seem to back that up especially since amir is probably the biggest name he could have possibly fought and it was on the weekend of 5 de mayo

Canelo can't afford to vacate the title and avoid Golovkin anymore. He had that type of leverage following his Cotto PPV, he doesn't have that much anymore. If he can only get 460K with Khan, then he's going to do even worse with whoever GBP has planned for him.

Yeah I don't even know who to believe anymore, if the broadcaster (HBO) released the numbers officially then we'd know for sure instead of arguing over which tweets are truth or lies. This will be the norm now though cause I don't see any boxing PPV doing a mill anytime soon. Maybe canelo vs ggg does over 1 million I'm pretty sure hbo would promote that fight heavily

Golden Boy has to pay the fighters PPV percentage, so they're overypaying to save embarrasment? you're confusing what they tell the media and what they tell the fighter - the fighter will have to have an accurate number, but the fighter doesn't have to make it public, especially if he thinks it's embarrassing maybe the number they told the media is true, maybe not - but they have at least some incentive to over-inflate it so that the public thinks of Canelo as a ppv attraction/star

Do we even get accurate PPV #s anymore? No. Dan Rafael is too close to Golden Boy to trust him on this. Glaser has been right about stuff in the past, but also just seems to throw shit out there that could be a complete guess, like 20-30% below what the promoters are saying.

They didn't. Those numbers make no sense at all... Let's say the fight did was GBP said it did, ~595K. That would mean Canelo would get $3.5M + ($3 x 595K) = $5.285M. He also has sponsorship deals with under armor and he probably has a deal with Mexican TV. But does that add up to an extra $10M? I highly doubt that. The most Nike paid Pacquiao per year(not fight) was $3M. I highly doubt under armor pays Canelo more than that. Then you have to wonder how much the Mexican TV deal is. Khan's projections are even more ludicrous. The actual numbers are probably more like: Canelo = $8M Khan = $6M plus his upside would be SUBSTANTIALLY more than $2 or $3 per buy. At that figure, an extra 250,000 buys nets him less than a million bucks. Seems legit lol

Last time glaser posted canelos number he was off by 300k, he said cotto-canelo did 600k and the official number was 900k, it wasnt even close... Glaser is simply a troll making up crap. 97k for GGG and 600k for Canelo/Cotto just a few prime examples of him being caught lying. If golden boy is inflating the numbers it ain't by 300k (double). I think it's safe to say the real numbers are at least over 500k (accounting for golden boy over stating the figure)which is damn good. That means canelo in a mismatch still drew better then both Manny and Floyd last fights.

This is why you don't take those low guarantees. Take high guarantees and make the promoter responsible for PPV numbers. It's his job to promote the fight. i read it kicked in at 500K could be, I dont know. It would surprise me though if it was that low, as you would think everyone assumed that 500k was a "given". An upside is supposed to kick in at a point that exceeds expectations, and based on the purse guarantees they had to be assuming at LEAST 500k.......

600k is not bad, Khan has no US fanbase and it was a mismatch, good for Canelo Khan contributed to the number too Canelos fights against Lara and Angulo did almost half this number people know who Khan is
