Sick of this retardation.
Canelo Khan was a 65/35 split in favor of Canelo. Base purses of $2million for Khan, $3.5million for Canelo plus ppv money for both. Khan is earning $10 million in US alone with ppv money.
Khan got such a large split despite being incapable of selling out the arena vs Juan Diaz in his last UK fight and never coming close to being a draw in the US.
Golovkin is clearly a bigger name than Khan so any offer from Canelo should be an equal or bigger split compared to the split Khan got. Otherwise Canelo is clearly low balling GGG and ducking him.:boxing:
Believe the marketing schtick if you want; no one is sure how good Golovkin is, and the man is already 34 years old.
If he gets washed in the fight, everyone would let it be known that he was a "Great Hope" and tricked the public with his careful matchmaking.
Doesn't matter what you or I believe, it's still the fight everyone wants to see... There's no other fight in boxing that will sell more tickets or PPV other than probably the May-Pac rematch..
Yeah it's only the biggest fight in the sport right now...

The fight's nowhere near as big as you want to think it'll be, and the scale of the event won't be due to Golovkin bringing a ton of business to the fight; if Golovkin demands $4m, he gives up any rights to the upside on the PPV.
Yeah it's only the biggest fight in the sport right now...
I agree there's upside but he won't and shouldn't accept $2 million base....he should get at least $4-5'million because that fight is gonna be huge.

Gauge the pieces; the TV rights to Alvarez-Golovkin is worth significantly more than Golovkin-Wade, in Germany, the UK, and every other market in Europe. K2 has to do a little extra work on that end, but there goes their upside on the fight.

What big name is Golovkin? He has fought bums for way too long and this Canelo fight will be his first fight against a known opponent. The man has more than 30 fights against nobodies. Brook has fought better opposition than GGG so you can imagine how Khan is.
No he hasn't. Brook has just one win over a Ring top 10er, the clinchfest vs Porter. Ggg has has destroyed 7 Ring top tenners
yep, ggg should just take this fight for free so that we can all watch it...
You have to be a female poster. That's the only explanation for you being worried about someone else's money so often.

You guys concerned with if a fight gets made because of a money split are ruining talking about the sport. It's sooooo fcuking stupid.

Its all about who is taking the bigger risk. Canelo has much more to lose than GGG.
Canelo loses he is no longer the cash cow of the sport.
GGG loses he goes back to HBO and continues doing exactly what he has done up to this point.
With that said this fight only happens on Canelo's terms, belt or no belt. I think Canelo is perfectly fine giving up the belt, he will not be dictated to. If all GGG wants is the belt than a 70-30 split is more than reasonable considering what GGG has been pulling in up to this point.
So canelo should get all the credit for the canelo-khan ppv.. then we can compare those numbers to gggs best ppv..

GGG just made $2 million base to fight Wade for Christ sake. Doubtful he's accepting that against Canelo..

He doesn't have to price himself out, there are rules in place for WBC mandatory/unification fights. If it were to go to purse bid for example, it's about 50/50 since GGG is mandatory and a title holder. So knowing that, it would be in Golden Boy's best interest to offer something fair & reasonable to Golovkin. All these clowns who say "90/10" or "85/15" have no idea how the business works. GGG will get a fair deal and they'll take it (no need for a purse bid, assuming there are no catchweight demands of 155 or whatever).
... or Canelo could vacate the belt, tell Golovkin to go **** himself, and have K2 trying to convince HBO to pay out $3m for them to air Golovkin-Heiland.
why do you continue to act as if Alvarez ever campaigned for the WBC 160 belt?
The math on the Canelo-Khan split is far murkier than you want to acknowledge.
Amir Khan ended up getting $2m as his base take on the event (likely his share off of the event gate/event sponsors), the UK TV rights to the event, and a share on the PPV; maxing out all of Khan's pieces of the pie, he likely gets up to $10m, hitting the rumored top if the event is a real blockbuster.
Golovkin should get a similar structure: $2m for the fight, the Germany/UK/Europe TV rights to the fight, and 10% of an upside piece on the PPV.
You're absolutely delusional if you think that Khan got $10m off of the US money, lol.

Canelo is not required to give GGG a certain amount. If GGG turns down an offer its on him.
GGG and his fans like to say he just wants the belts. OK, if GGG gets an offer that pays him more than he ever got and he turns it down, then he showed his true colors.
If GGG does to Canelo what Saunders did to GGG, GGG fans better say the exact same things they said about saunders.
Just like Pacquaio should have taken that $40 million. So yeah if he gets offered 2.1 million I guess he should thank Canelo and accept that offer right away...
Who the fk is BJS? 98% of posters on this site couldn't pick him out of a lineup and this is supposedly a boxing forum...
