Good chance the June 18 #PBConNBC card will be in Chicago with Fonfara in the main event. #boxing
It seems Haymon is looking for cheaper, but more exciting fights to put on NBC this year.
Oh snap, that's a good one
Yep Michael woods reported it he also said Jamel Herrig might fight fortuna on the same card.

I think Al is trying to build some of his young names on the diff networks before they go to showtime that's why he had spence and now fonfara and beterbiev headlining I'm also hearing Sammy Vasquez could headline a PBC card against Lamont Peterson.

It's weird you guys across the pond put so much stock in what network a fight is broadcast on.
So much so that one of you refuses to watch a fight if it was on a certain channel :lol1:
Network fanboys. They suck but they live for it.
Boxing tonight? Hell yeah, but first what channel it on? That decides whether i can watch
pbc is so done. spence and fonfarra headlining their premiere shows? fonfarra was supposed to be just some guy they signed to give their other fighters opponents and now he's headlining? rob salka headlining next?
Rios, algieri, ruslan were all some guys and all have rose. 2 even headlined PPVwith PaC and Sulka was not PBC that was GBP

Lmao! Fonfara has become a Damn good fighter lately though hard to believe he got KOd by Derrick Findley years ago.

Danny on Fox in January, Thurman vs Porter is CBS.
None of those are NBC! And CBS comes with an asterisk it will be produced by Showtime not PBC. And for FOX's second card they are featuring washed up Ortiz and Berto. Big drop off in star power from Danny and Guerrero. Ortiz vs Berto would of been on one of the secondary PBC channels like Spike last year not FOX.
Your right he might not be trying to do that at the same time it can't hurt to let some of these guys get more exposure on the differnt networks funny thing is more people are watching these guys than the big names because showtimes ratings for the year have sucked lol.
The PBC launch has had collateral damage killing the Showtime boxing brand in the process. The ratings are more disturbing then PBC because Showtime was an established powerhouse in boxing prior and now their ratings are down over 50% in just one year. The cards the last few weeks are ShoBox type ratings about 1/4th what they got a year and a half ago.
But Haymon doesn't care if the ratings flop on Showtime as long as the checks clear for his fighters. But if ratings flop on PBC that effects him because he and his backers are paying those fight checks and checks to the networks.
Yup it's clear there has been a big dynamic shift. Lesser names and cheaper purses for these cards, less fights per month then last year as well while sending his bigger A side fighters to Showtime. I don't think it has anything to do with building his young names I think it's very simple. They are trying to save money! Also got rid of the big named on air talent from last year. Gone is Marv Albert, Al Michaels, Sugar Ray ect.

Regardless of the network PBC needs continuity with it's fighters. If you watch NBC you see a fighter once and then never again. Fonfara had a good fight last year on Spike why not keep having him fight on Spike so he can build on the fans he had last year? Instead people who watch NBC are like who is this guy and where are the guys who fought here last year. All those guy are fighting on Showtime now. And now we are getting prospects and B side fighters. Can't see how this is going to turn around the ratings for PBC.

I'm not saying he should be there on name value or anything. I'm saying I can see him being there cuz he fights like a lot of casual fans like to watch guys fighting like. Fonfara could in theory become a draw off of his gritty no f#cks given style. I mean Gatti was never doing Floyd or Manny **** & he became pretty famous & mainstream.
Lets not forget that some people claim the UFC become more mainstream off of the Forest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar fight that had zero name value involved at the time. If PBC is legit going broke like some guys are suggesting it would seem like maybe not a bad idea to try some different strategies with growing their product.
Seems like a solid way to help make guys names as well. They largely put semi-known names on the "first season" of PBC lets say with guys like Thurman, Broner, Porter, Garcia & LSC & now for this "second" season they throw these much lesser known names on their that makes you feel like their bigger names cuz of the guys on their previously. I'm sure someone who's smarter than myself in economics & marketing strategies might know a name for that method of attempting to create value in something that didn't previously have value, but I don't happen to know what its called although I've seen it done many times in many different ways by businesses.
See my post to DSG. I think its fair to use Fonfara to headline since Spence just did and he is far more known and has a bigger fanbase.
Spence who just graduated from Prospect stage and isn't a draw shouldn't of been headlining NBC either and the ratings (all time low for PBC on NBC and one of the worst viewed programs on ANY of the big Network channels for the entire week let alone prime time).
ESPN
Saturday’s Premier Boxing Champions card on NBC in prime time, headlined by welterweight Errol Spence Jr.’s impressive fifth-round knockout of Chris Algieri, averaged 1.3 million viewers, by far the lowest of the six prime time cards on the network since it debuted in March 2015 to an average audience of 3.74 million. Each of the six cards has drawn fewer viewers than the previous one with Saturday’s dropping 500,000 viewers from the previous low of 1.8 million drawn by the card headlined by Omar Figueroa-Antonio DeMarco on Dec. 12. According to Nielsen, Saturday’s card, which went head-to-head with UFC Fight Night on Fox (2.5 million average), ranked 103rd out of 116 programs rated last week.
I agree not sure how much longer PBC is going to last so I think maybe Al is trying to let some of his younger guys get more exposure on the diff networks before the time buys run out.
I have to disagree if spence can fight on NBC why can't fonfara?

Fair point. Fonfara is more accomplished and better known. If you do it in Brooklyn or Chicago there will be a strong Polish contingent making for good TV.
I stand corrected.

Agreed. Plus Fonfara seems to pack in the Polish fan base. At least he has an audience to tap in to.
I just read the news on twitter
La prensa polaca dice que Chad Dawson posiblemente sea el rival de Andrezj Fonfara en junio en Chicago. Fonfara le daría/dará una tunda— JuliusJulianis (@JulianisJulius) April 8, 2016
Yeah Dawson was the first one that came to mind
