It was a very close fight with several close rounds. I personally felt that Castillo won, but can't get upset that people feel Floyd won. The thing I always say on the subject is this. Floyd did what he was supposed to do in a situation like this and gave Castillo a rematch and clearly beat him. Nothing else you can ask from a fighter that wins a close, tough decision.
thats how I looked at it...Castillo was one of my favs after beating Lil but Bad and Paez...either guy winning or a draw wouldnt have bothered me at all....the injury didnt help his performance but at least he handled the close nod like a G and gave him a rematch right after.
JLC is highly underrated as is Corrales who shouldve been in the hall......Gatti is in their yet Corrales passed the same year with a better resume, better skills, and just as much if not more excitement...oh well.....JLC is a HOFer in my book....he and corrales ran **** at 130-135 when floyd left in the early 2000s
I had it a draw, 7-5 for both guys but more times than not Floyd wins by a round or two.....giving away all those early rounds killed Castillo.....fights are scored round by round, not by punch stats....one big round or 2 could swing stats in a major way, but people on this site who claim to be boxing fans are too damn lazy to watch the fights, they just cling on to something they heard without research...well thats the american way

Scored it for Floyd iirc Castillo gave away too many early rounds, had it 7-5 or 8-4. Close fight doe.
That's reasonable. I feel like the early rounds were swing rounds however. Could have been close
I don't answer nonsense. Ask a question in real english
you have to face nonsense questions when you submit nonsense posts...
again, what's the real connection between your posts #1 & #6?
i was not asking you to reinvent the wheel....
why can you not answer the simple question related to your posts #1 & #6?
and "obama is the face of america" ha ha ha ha

Pure and simple ignorance. I don't blame you. Move along.

No one is unbeatable, we all know that and no one is claiming otherwise. That has nothing to do with what Max said. There are several threads that ask if Floyd is really undefeated. Is that really worth discussing in 2016?
You got asked because there are a half dozen of these threads in NSB already and because you made it when the hot topics were ESPN's list or the Manny/Bradley fight. Had you put this in the history section, posters would've understood it and not commented the way they did.
I am choosing to not like it and comment, which is allowed in a forum.
we are basically singing the same tune....
there is really nothing in floyd castillo 1 that really relates to what max said...
the greatness of a fighter does not really depend on 1 fight....
sadly, the op seems to be interested only in posts that agree with him...
I'm not upset about anything.
I did make the thread because of what Max said.
The poll results solidify why I made the previous comment. Floyd got a gift win in his prime best form. He's not unbeatable and based on that, what Kellerman said is not out of the question of possibly being accurate.
Besides, why I made the thread really doesn't concern you or those who question my reasoning for it. You're not required to come in here and comment. You don't like it, leave.

So this is why you made this thread-to claim Floyd wasn't undefeated. This had nothing to do with what Max said, which is why you claimed to make this thread.
14 years later and you are still upset that he got the decision in a close fight. Wow!

I think comprehension classes should be in your near future.
I'm guessing English is not your first language.
Move on. I have no time for people this ignorant.
wow! resorting to "comprehension classes" jabs when cornered....ha ha ha ha....
how dense!?
The problem is that you don't get to score the fight after the fact. Floyd won 4 of the first 5 rounds by close margins but those scores where in the books. After that Castillo had a clear advantage and won many rounds by a wider margin. If one simply looks at that fight and asks overall who won the fight I think most would say Castillo. But in boxing the judges don't get to go back and rescore those first 5 close rounds.
Winning clearly in a rematch certainly doesn't erase the fact that the first fight happened. Floyd is better, no doubt. Nobody is questioning that he is. But.....
he really lost that first fight, hence, he's not really undefeated. That's all that counts.

It doesn't matter what you think of the first fight, Floyd took the immediate rematch and won clean.
That was the days of boxing where you wanted to be considered a top dog you were expected to take the rematch and avenge yourself. Floyd still had his balls at that time.
I don't know why that tradition has gone away, but it shouldn't have.

you disrespected yourself...
your post #1 & #6 are a complete disconnect....
go figure!
