Dude is a beast with more than just power, we all know this, he's got skills.
I'd just like to know what you guys think about this build? He NEVER really seems ripped or shredded, his arms are seriously scrawing- seriously..
but I bet his power comes from other places like his back/legs/core/etc.
He's got super dense bones.
A lot of the muscled guys are actually bird boned which is why they can afford all that soft tissue on their frame for their weight. Kovalev is lean but not muscled so his dense bones make up more of his weight than most of the others in his division.
Agreed with pretty much everyone here. A true Fighter's physique, no BS weight-lifting, focus solely on the muscle groups needed. Great technique, and yes, probably very high bone density.
Take a group of 10 random people who DKSAB and show them the Kov-Pascal weigh-ins, how many do you think would bet on Kovalev?
He looks pretty damn strong to me. You don't need to be as muscular as Bradley to punch hard. It's more about punching speed and proper technique. It's also about putting maximum bodyweight behind you punches which Krusher K does well. In fact muscleman Bradley doesn't punch all that hard.
He's rangy. Presumably his power comes from a combination of natural genetics, technique and torque.
I agree with you, the old saying of punchers being born not made comes to mind.
Another fighter with a similar build comes to mind, Kelly Pavlik. His physique was underwhelming but he brought the pain....he was responsible for the beginning of the end of to Taylor's promising career.
Sergey probably has high bone-density. Gym-bunnies would call him small, but big arms do nothing for punching power except slow you down and tire you out faster. Your toes are much more useful in boxing than your biceps. He has a rather large head too.
Good post will Green k

he has a fighters physique. He looks like Mayweather before mayweather started juicing.
^^^^ This!!! No bull**** weight lifting going on here..That muscle is developed from punching deep through the bag...Just watch any of his training videos.. One of the only fighters today that actually works the heavybag for power effectively.
He's about a 9. He has the body, looks, charisma and fashion sense. But his hair is awful, just awful. If he had good hair he'd be a solid 10, such a shame.
Again, great bod though.
you forgot to say no homo

his body morphology is athletic build with more than average girth in his arms, typical of white eastern european males, the western european tend to have puny arms and small genitialia..his head structure and shape is the kind you associate with criminals and violent psychopaths - yes, it's considered racist nowadays and was used by nazi doctors - but there's some truth in it...you'll never see well refined, intellectual types with crude head shapes like his
I lol'd
Western Europeans puny arms and small genitialia? :lol1:
His arms look thin in some pictures, but in reality he's very strong

He's got his arms behind his back in that pic, which means we're seeing them narrow end on.
He's built like an old school heavyweight from the early 1900s. Compare his body to Dempsey's and there are a lot of similarities. Lean, wiry muscles, iron sinews. Not a bodybuilder but a fighter to the core.

He does'nt get as ripped up as a lot of fighters we see these days, but I think that is a good thing. He is built like a fighter should be imo. He is built in a way that still gives him great mobility while having the endurance to go rounds if needed. To much is put on strength training these days, all them muscles generally stiffen you up and drain your endurance.
Yea, I agree. It seems to be an efficient build. Not too bulky, not too shredded, just efficient.
