He's only what, 22 years old? And he only has 19 fights so far.
Yet in every thread he's mentioned in you'll see certain members hoping for his downfall. Why is that?
He has a chance to be boxing next superstar. He's got skills, power, and I don't speak Spanish but he seems pretty charismatic. And he's also handsome, which is apparently a factor in the making of boxing stars as well (no homo, don't punch me Pacquiao!)
So what is the root cause of all this hate?
I haven't seen anyone hate on him.
The kid is universally regarded blue chip prospect..
The only knock I hear about Verdejo, is people rushing to proclaim him great instead of earning it
I'm not sure where you're getting that. The issue with Verdejo is that he needs to step up the competition. Until he does, we don't know how great he can be. That's not hate. It's the truth. I'm a huge fan, but he needs to step it up, and I think he'll do great when he does.

He's being anointed well before he's established a resume that's worth being anointed. You add that he's getting all of this early hype without even having an Olympic pedigree, and it's reasonable for folks to view things with some skepticism.
No different than when folks were giving Saul Alvarez the side-eye before he tried to secure the fight against Paul Williams and Victor Ortiz (both fights fell through, ending up with Alvarez fighting Mosley and Josesito Lopez; still, that was followed up with Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Lara, Kirkland, and Cotto).
Three years into his pro career, and 19 fights, who has Verdejo fought to be anointed?
Compare that to where Miguel Cotto was, three years into his career.
I have literally seen no one pray for his downfall lmfao alot of people give him props etc for his skills only nack people say are he hasnt stepped up yet so they cant really tell how he will fair etc which is true lmfao.
People say he hasnt stepped up = hater = your insecurities lmfao.
lotta of fools are lames boxing got you dudes way too emotional.
I agree with everything you said, but I agree with the last sentence 1000%!!!!
what hate? barely anybody talks about this guy
I think ricans are butthurt that hes not very popular. they want Danny Garcia level exposure and paydays for him for fighting cab drivers
at the end of the day, he's just a promising prospect who needs to step it up
I don't know why some hate him anymore than I know why some hate GGG and call him little g and some hate Canelo and call him ginger. He seems likeable and he looks like a good prospect. Boxrec ranks all the pro boxers in any weight class from number 1 all the down to 3000 or more depending on how many pros there are in the world in the weight class. Verdejo may be a future star but his opposition has been very weak so far. He has yet to fight a boxer that boxrec ranks even in the top 100. He is fighting an undefeated fighter from Brazil who is ranked about 120th in the world. A fighter can be undefeated and still be ranked low because they haven't defeated any good fighters and that's the case with everybody Felix has fought to date. Boxrec ranks Felix number 45 in the world right now and that's a long way from being a top ten contender. He needs to start fighting better boxers. That wouldn't be a valid reason for anyone to hate him. They are just bringing him along slowly and carefully.
Only people hating seem to Mexicans tbh, though I dont think that is what the OP was so subtly hinting at.
Verdejo has great talent, and good boxing ability.
If he can bring his boxing ability up to his talent level we could be looking at a great fighter
