I'm really starting to believe this...
I have always thought the two Mexican superstars were on par with each other in terms of skill and effectiveness. Chavez jr the stalker, plodder. Alverez the boxer but plodder nonetheless.
When Chavez jr. was under the tutelage of Froach I thought he was going to peak to his potential and not just another prodigal son. But he got real lazy and the rest is history.
NOw I always see Canelo the same as Chavez jr with the fact that CAnelo actually respect the game of boxing and he commits to and train for it. But granted, he's always oversize that was to his advantage.
YEs, when they were younger, they were able to squeeze down to lighter weight, but i dont see that happening for long anytime now...
to me Canelo is the same as Chavez jr who actually trains....
Alvarez has been in the ring with Cotto, Mosley, Kirkland, Lara, Mayweather (his only loss), Trout, and Angulo, and is 25 years old. There aren't many active top fighters with a better resume than that, and at 25 years old he may not even be hitting his stride.
His skills were on display in the Cotto fight. The upper body movement, punch placement/combinations, the ability to pull counter, using his legs to escape pressure, etc, were all there. By the time he's 30 he could be something truly special.
TL;DR He's leagues above Chavez Jr.
So discipline that he had to make his own weight class so he can fight in because he can't lose a pound to make 154? Yeah he discipline all right
He made 152 on the dot for Mayweather. Weights for other fights are just politics. No different than the can crusher that won't bend from 160. Hate all you want but the truth is that Canelo has shown exceptional discipline.
WTF??? Canelo seems to be the poster boy for discipline. Manages to successfully cut massive weight every time, clearly trains intensely and follows his trainer's instructions. They'reboth Mexican and both boxers. The comparisons end there.

And what's the ****ing issue on smoking some marijuana? Michael phelps, multiple gold medal winner was smoking pot too. It doesn't mean anything.
It'll get you fined, suspended, victories overturned etc. So, yea, it certainly does "mean something", whether fans agree with it or not.
Stupid post. Canelo has already achieved far more then Chavez ever did and we have not seen any issues with him clashing with numerous trainers and having the lazy reputation. Chavez is a joke. Other then both being Mexican I don't see anything similar in their fighting style, skills, preparation or dedication to the sport of boxing.
I have never seen Canelo training in his living room or testing positive for Marijuana..nor ignoring the greatest fighter he has ever met(his father) while jumping in a swimming pool

He probably means that Canelo always outweighs his opponents. Let's see what he can do when he fight people of his own weight. He can get Fonfared at MW.

Yeah that 24/7(or countdown, don't recall) was an embarrassment I don't know why they even aired that. You could tell Roach was only there for a check cause he couldnt do anything for him with that attitude.
And then to top it off Chavez loses and then tries to get mad at his father who was trying his best to help him, watching film and doing more training then him.Chavez jr is the definition of a spoiled, lazy ungrateful lil b1tch
I used to think so too but no
Chavez jr is strong, tough and durable and most likely on peds but skillwise he is on par with baldomir, nothing more
Canelo is a pretty complete fighter, does everything very well and his weakness which is his footwork is not too bad now and is improving imo
Canelo does actually care about his career, he may have some issues but he does actually want to be a boxer and have a successful career.
JCC Jr. doesn't really care he already made some money off his name, so it is all good for him.
