Bute good him a close run, and the way he put it on him at the end I thought if the judges had it closer earlier he'd have taken it. The Dirrell fight the knockdown was the difference.

James Degale was an Olympic Gold Medalist just like Ward, and is now arguably #1 at 168 since Ward has moved up. Since Ward/Froch vs Golovkin won't happen, Degale vs Golovkin at 168 may be the next best fight. Degale is entering his prime and has looked really impressive schooling Bute and Dirrell, he's like a more active version of Ward and to me looks just as skilled. So who would win between GGG (King of 160) vs Degale (King of 168)? IMO Degale would outpoint GGG by Unanimous Decision due to him being bigger and slicker. bute was terrible though when degale fought him. froch destroyed him and pascal dominated him recently. geale had 2 debatable split decision losses when he fought ggg. lemieux had been dominant for 4 years when he fought ggg. bute was just a name. Agreeded. Bute performance had more to due with Degales limitations as a fighter and less to do with Bute being rejuvenated.

Bute and especially Dirrell are both head and shoulders above anyone g string has fought. FACT! Bute and Andre were once considered head and shoulders above anyone Golovkin has fought. Bute ain't done **** since he got battered by Froch and seems to have become gunshy and Dirrell ain't close to the same fighter since Abe hit him on the canvas. Disagree, Degale has yet to beat a world champion and his best win is over a guy people thought was shot to pieces in a tougher than expected fight. Yet his resume is still better than gstrings

I haven't watched any of Degales fights but going by his past fights he has yet to fight any SMW that's top 10 in the world, but if Golovkin ever does move up to 168 I'd like to see them fight.

Degale is just another athletic boxer who can't really box. You have to be complete to beat GGG. Degale is nothing near complete.

He should have been DQed multiple fights. He just held and held and held, and then held some more, and then held more. And they gave him a medal. He isn't particularly slick, he is definitely nowhere near Andre Ward in terms of skill. His fight with Direlle wasn't a schooling. He won because of knockdowns, but was actually the one taken to school.

Team GGG won't entertain it, so we'll never know unfortunately.
