Muhammad Ali is great, but not The Greatest. Muhammad Ali has 5 losses. I don't see Ali winning championship belts in FIVE different weight classes. I don't see Muhammad Ali selling 4 million PPV. I don't see Ali defeating 23 world/former world champions. However, I DO see Ali getting knocked out by Larry Holmes. I aint ever seen anyone knocking Floyd out.
Floyd Mayweather = Greatest boxer in history and will possibly remain The Greatest for at least another 10,000 years.
Muhammad Ali = Great heavyweight boxer, one of the best in his era.
Agreed with these points except that I wouldn't put Floyd quite as high as Ali on an ATG list personally.
Anyway #1 for me is easily SRR.
That's fair enough dude. I have #1 Floyd. #2 SRR. #3 Ali. I switch that up all the time. You can make a case for any
Manny Pacquaio is the greatest lb for lb. He fought Mayweather to a close decision victory, only to be robbed, with only 1 arm!!
Floyd Mayweather is the 2nd best boxer of all time.
As for Muhammad Ali, he ranks about number 5 in an achievement sense after Wladimir Kltischko, Vitali Klitschko, Lennox Lewis and Larry Holmes.
In H2H terms he definitely ranks in the top 100 but it's a far fetched fantasy to assume he ranks higher than top 50.
^ This is actually flattering since he boxed 50 years ago!!
Muhammad Ali is literally a bum compared with Floyd in summary.
:haha::lol1::rofl::haha:
Comedy gold. I mean none of the guys you mentioned are better than Ali but Vitali is not even remotely worth bringing up.
Mayweather may be the best pure boxer ever. But he is not "the greatest".
It goes to Ali. To be called "the greatest" you need to be a great person outside of the ring. And be more than just a great boxer.
BTW my grandpas and parents all know who Ali is, but somehow know nothing about Mayweather and never heard about him.
Shows how much influence Ali had all over the World. Him and Tyson are most recognisable and famous boxers on the planet. Even though I am not biggest Tyson fan at all.
Dude... I have Floyd down as the greatest boxer to lace them up but some of the points you mentioned were pure bull****.
1) Ali was a heavyweight. It's physically impossible for him to fight in 5 divisions bro, wtf.
2) PPV Numbers shouldn't justify how great a fighter is, it justifies their popularity. Don't forget, Pacquiao was half of the reason why 4.6 million homes bought the PPV.
3) With the modern state of all these governing bodies, there are more world champions today than there ever was. So this point is kind of invalid when comparing the number of champions on Floyd's resume to Ali's.
4) Ali was THE GREATEST of his era. Not one of.
Agreed with these points except that I wouldn't put Floyd quite as high as Ali on an ATG list personally.

- Ali had a global audience of half the world when he was fighting which was 2 billion at the time.
- It's stupid to compare weight classes but if you want to get technical, Ali had a plus/minus of 70 pounds in regards to his opponents.
- Ali won the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, Floyd hasn't unified any divisions he fought in.

oh boy....
opening threads left and right..
and getting burned to a crisp!
i admire your guts....
by the way, have some inspiration to open/dwell on, a worthy thread
Name one SINGLE thing Ali did better than Floyd?
Name one SINGLE opponent Ali beat who was of comparable quality to those Mayweather beat?
Some nut bags are unbelievable!
I hate Mayweather's guts, I am Manny over Mayweather through and through but it is an insult, a STINKING INSULT to compare Mayweather unfavourably to this level!!
:sad2:
name ONE PRIME FIGHTER mayweather beat who wasnt coming off of a loss
its easy to look good when you can wait on opponents and choose WHEN to face them
Ali had a better JAB than mayweather
had way better FOOTWORK than mayweather
had better STAMINA than mayweather
had a better CHIN than mayweather
put COMBINATIONS together better than mayweather
he could CARRY HIS POWER into later rounds better than mayweather
fought HOF'ers in their PRIME win or lose mostly won and was robbed of THREE YEARS OF HIS PRIME and became the first HEAVYWEIGHT to become champ 3 times when there was only ONE PATH TO THE BELT AND HAD TO FACE CONTENDERS
Ali fought in MANY different areas and countries and WON and didnt stay and rely on vegas judging.
Ali was defensive but never TOO defensive as to where it will STUNT his offense
we have to talk about Ali in STAGES bc a PRIME ALI BEFORE THE THREE YEAR BAN WAS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD.
mayweather beat an OLD jmm coming up TWO weight classes, and he STILL didnt make weight, old de la hoya(split decision), old shane mosley, zab judah coming off a LOSS, fought twice jose luis castillo,
please dont you EVER try to compare RESUME'S with Ali on behalf of mayweather

yes, you make perfect sense!!!
Muhammad Ali will always be a better fighter to me over floyd

Console3344.You need help either emotionally or for Floyd to you know what.I mean, who the $#%& starts a thread on the same person 3 times in one day? And the guy is retired?
Go to bed or work and get off the comp unless you've got something useful to spout off about.Got damn.
If you want to share your opinion on who is the greatest, that's fine. But if you want to share your reasons why, based on facts, make sure your points are valid bro.
