The hype this kid gets would make you think he is some super fighter, he looks ok but nothing i jump out my seat about. He can fight but his defense is leaky as hell and he is stiff and rather robotic. It seems like to may young fighters get hyped up on here and other websites without even proving themselves first. Not trying to bash the kid but i just dont see whats so special about him honestly
He's not Mayweather so he can't be that great. Same with Crawford.
In all seriousness i like watching him, he's got a nice style. I think he's a future champ for sure.
Solid fighter but these American amateur standouts seem to have issues fighting in only 1 or 2 gears. Professional swarmers/pressure fighters always trouble them because they don't fight at a chess match boxing speed.
They look good against guys they can keep pace or set the pace with. I don't know if it's just me but a lot of the American amateurs fight fairly similar in how they shoot punches and the pacing of their punches.
Imam, Spence, Sammy Vazquez, JoJo Diaz.. I feel like they all punch in similar ways in how they pop and deliver. Also the timing and punch sequences.
Granted there are some who have developed into fine fighters but have their own peculiar styles.. Terence Crawford and Danny Garcia for example. Mikey Garcia too.
He's a prospect. He's still learning. I think it's kind of stupid that people want to throw him in with fighters like Thurman and Brook already. I know he said he was turned down, but a fighter like Collazo is the kind of competition he should be fighting right now. Or maybe Devon Alexander.
He looks good right now. We'll see how he develops moving forward.
lol how long is he gonna be a prospect for? He should be entering his prime soon, time to step it up.
Methinks Amir Imam part 2 is on the way :usa2::alcoholic

I agree. He is a solid young prospect, but I need to see him fight a quality fighter before I really can rate him.
He is an offensive fighter not a defensive one, if you are looking for the next Floyd that won't be Spence who is aggressive and best suited fighting. However, someone does not need to be Floyd to be highly successful and what matters is how he can deal with fighters who do not suit his talents.
Can he make his talents work on a level that it forces guys even that don't suit him to fight in a way that it makes it easier for himself.
Every time I see him he gets hit but he is generally doing the best thing for his talent even if that makes him vulnerable to the odd punch.
It is hard for me to call any fighter the future until I see them with other top opponents. When you think about it, it does not take much for a fighter to derail. We know more when they reach deep waters.
We saw an example of it yesterday with Imam. Errol does have a very good skillset, and I believe he will be at least a player in the division, but time will tell.

i agree.....
nobody talked about this guy until mayweather said something.
but that guy looks so damn stiff and looks more like a lifter than athlete.
and speaking of potential, hes filled for that frame with muscle, not going up much farther.
ill never be sold on this guy.
just like matthysse provodnikov and shawn porter. i will never be sold on those + spence.
i had high hopes in imam though, hahaha.
I think he's solid for where he is now. Like other guys have said, throw him in with guys like Collazo, Lopez, Alexander or even Guerrero (shame he's fighting Garcia for some reason, he had his soft touch)
Oh and, next FOTD :D
I'm just saying Brook didn't really fight any fringe guys at WW he just went in deep and fought a champion a guy probably that was top 5?
If Errol loses he isn't overrated etc he just got beat that's all but I'm certain he could definitely beat someone like Brook.
He also had a lot more fights before stepping in with Porter, and against the type of competition I think Spence should be fighting for the next couple of fights.
But hey, maybe he proves me wrong.
If they want to make those fights, they can. It shouldn't come as a surprise if he loses them, and Spence shouldn't be called an overrated hype job if he loses them. It would be really impressive if he beat a top 6 or 7 WW right now. That's a huge jump in competition.

Kell Brook was a prospect for how long?
He eventually stepped up after so many years, so many gardeners, taxi drivers and when he fought someone good he passed the test marginally, I'd rather a fighter shows the balls to want a chance to prove himself as soon as he thinks he is ready over the guy wanting a tune-up after another tune-up.
Nobody knows Errol better than himself and his trainers, they must think he is more than ready so why not.

He's not even THAT hyped. He's a "solid competitor" and probably future champ. If you don't think he's good then what prospect is?
Did you stutter like Floyd in your head while writing that like "solid compeh compeh compehtheeturrrr"?
I think he's very good.. and he has no hype at all outside of message boards and twitter despite being on nbc a couple times. He is a fighter that needs an actual promoter.
