Would any other boxer receive the sympathy that Lucas has received?

The answer is no. Anyone who disagrees is lying to themselves.

Lucas just comes off as a like able guy. I'm not even a fan (nor a "hatuh"), but its just how it is.

It's all circumstantial, not all quitting is the same. Postol was the better man entirely and that's all that matters to me at this point. But like I brought up previously, Angulo took a lot of crap and it's unfair.

What sympathy? There have been 100 threads about him quitting already, and some posters are creating multiple threads about it phrased in different ways. Exactly this. The same posters are making 4 or 5 threads about Lucas quitting, while complaining that there is not enough talk of Lucas quitting. I'm not sure what much more they want.

Fighters know when they have had enough. He did and decided to quit for his health. I think that's acceptable. I'm not a fan of his (neutral) but he's a good fighter and a warrior. I don't want to see any fighter suffering any permanent damage just to please some fans or his country. You can't demand that of fighters. The fight was pretty good too!

Because Lucas has already established his reputation as a warrior who has been at the top of the division for a past few years.

I think some of you guys are making too big a deal out of Matthysse. He may have some devout ball gagglers, but that's about it. The rest of us think he's just alright; a good, entertaining fighter.

as posted in other threads matthysse has already fought 12 rounds with a swollen shut eye without quitting going temporarily blind with your eye open and feeling a pop in your skull is a bit different and requires medical attention unless you are simply saying he lied

Can you imagine Floyd, Garcia, Wilder taking a knee and staying down for the 10 count and receiving sympathy? Imagine Cotto staying down? All hell would break loose. I guess fan favorites generally receive more sympathy. Cotto did stay down....oh wait,you mean again?
