of the people Manny fought since entering welterweight
Algeiri unranked at welterweight
Bradley unranked in fight one at 147
Marquez unranked in fight 3 and 147
ODLH unranked at 147
He has been at 147 since 2008 and the only guys that were top ten when he fought them were Cotto(coming off a tko loss, and barely got by Clottey), Clottey(never was elite lost every big fight), Bradley in fight 2, and Mosley who hadn't won a fight in over 2 years at that point
cotto...arguably coming off two losses....1 by tko and one was a disputed decision to clottey...he was top ten though
clottey....lost every big fight in his career, except to judah.....he was lower top ten
margarito was not top ten at 147 or 154....was coming off a year lay off and looked like crap against a journeyman prior to facing pac....before that he got ktfo by mosley
bradley was not a top ten welterweight in their first fight....he fought unranked abregu before facing pac.....bradley was not ranked at 147 until they robbed pac of victory vs him
rios wasn't top ten at welter
algieri wasn't top ten
jmm....is a great fighter but never was an elite welterweight and didn't enter the top ten til he ktfo of manny.....every other fighter he faced at 147 he lost to
this is just the truth man, anyone who tried to deny this is tripping, yes we know pac is an atg but this is undeniable

Rios wasn't top ten at welter
Algieri wasn't top ten
JMM....IS A GREAT FIGHTER but never was an elite welterweight and didn't enter the top ten til he KTFO of Manny.....every other fighter he faced at 147 he lost to
Why did Margarito looks like crap in his comeback? I just remember him outboxing the sht outta the guy, although admittedly I didn't watch the entire fight, seems he won every round. Is it because he boxed? But yea, obviously he was passed prime. Still an underrated win, considering the size disadvantage.
Again, I think it's OK for Pac to get knocked out and then not pick someone who looked super impressive. I'd extend the same opinion to Mayweather or literally anyone else in the same situation.
What wasn't impressive about Cotto's wins? The fights were competitive so they're no good?
EDIT: Mosley is a fair example though, I wasn't crazy about Pac/Mosley.
what was his excuse for picking them when it wasn't after a kayo loss...Margarito, mosley and Algieri he was coming off wins before he fought them....Clottey as well he was coming off a win.
First of all, this is a thread about Pacquiao, there is absolutely no reason to mention you know who.
And yeah, it's about time we start to examine Pacquiao's record more closely. He's a top 50 all time fighter, I think it's important to look at his fight choices and the circumstances around them more closely. So he had several catch weights and fought weight drained guys or over the hill guys.
I don't give him a lot of credit for the De la Hoya win, Oscar was a skeleton that night and was past his prime and weight drained, maybe if he would have fought Oscar at 154 the results would have been similar, but Oscar had no business fighting below 154, period. Cotto was a good win, sure Cotto could barely make 147 anymore and that 145 likely effected him some, but Pacquiao was too much for Cotto and more impressively he took Cotto's punches. He beat Bradley in that 1st fight IMO, but it was pretty close. Margarito at 150 was still a good win, that was a brutal fight. He lost the biggest fight in PPV history most recently.
I thought he lost fight 3 to Marquez. And then Marquez nearly killed him in fight 4. Diaz, Algeiri, and Rios all had no business being in a fight with any top 10 P4P guy, bums. The KO of Hatton was one of Pacquiao's finest hours above 130, he looked unstoppable. Clottey was a joke and did nothing against Pacquiao. The Bradley revenge fight is where I thought that Pacquiao looked his age, won easily, but did not lookgreat.
So that's pretty much his career above 130. A few great performances, a few losses, and several blah performances. His career at 130 and below was excellent highlighted by wins over Berrera, and a revenge win over Morales although Morales had trouble making weight for that 2nd fight. Also have to mention Oscar Larios, that was a good win. Took that loss to Morales also.
I guess that brings us to the Marquez fights. He drew with him in fight 1. Won a split decision over him in fight 2. And won a close decision with him in fight 3. Before the KO in fight 4. I thought Marquez won fights 2 and 3, but fight 2 was close and not a robbery. I thought fight 3 was a borderline robbery.
He's had a nice career. I still think he's top 50, maybe top 30.
First of all Clottey (really underrated here) was not a joke fighter. The guy may not be the best WW at the time but he was one of the top 5 WW. Welter Weight at that time was actually great compare to now.
You have to give few more credit for Pacquiao in his DLH fight because it was his first time going up in WW. Pacquiao made DLH quit too.
If Marquez in their third fight didn't gave up the last two rounds, he could have won the fight. He was very competitive in first ten rounds (kinda like Oscar giving up the last 4 rounds against Tito). People always forget this.
And his first fight with Marquez the decision could have gone to Pacquiao if one the of judges didn't screw up the scorecard. Instead of scoring the first round as 10-6, one jugde scored it as 10-7 resulting in draw.
Just stop this ****. Pacquiao has beaten Cotto, Clottey, Margarito and Bradley, which is far superior to Mayweather welterweight resume
Cotto...arguably coming off two losses....1 by tko and one was a disputed decision to clottey...he was top ten though

Pacquiao is fighting far from his ideal division. Give it a rest.
He's ****ing 5'5" with a 67" reach.
...and he's old. He should be at Lightweight, although Jr. Welterweight I could see as well.
Bro......Manny was weighing 140+ on fight night when he campaigned at 130...he is not as small as some of you guys think and its an excuse to me....If he was so small he would've moved back to 140 years ago....who cares, you are judged by what you do, not should've could've wouldve

Yes, I thought Bradley clearly won 4 or 5 rounds, it was a 6th or 7th round that I just couldn't find for him. Been discussed to death, it was a bad decision to give it to Bradley IMO, but people acting like it was a terrible robbery simply haven't watched that much boxing. When one fighter wins 6 rounds clearly and the other wins 4 rounds clearly with 2 more that were really close, it's not a robbery, that's a pretty close fight. A robbery is where there is zero doubt on 8+ rounds and they still give it to the other guy.

Pac is a great fighter but ive always said his ww run is very sketchy when you take into effect what the thread starter is stating, its just true guys no need to try to say otherwise
Here's the thing, in '09 Pac's legacy as an ATG was cemented. Everything Cotto and beyond was just icing on the cake. Has he had an ATG WW career, hell no. Was it as good as Floyds, nope but IMO he faced tougher comp titles/ranks aside. Was his WW bad? Name anyone not named Floyd with a better WW record in this era. End of the day, Pac isn't a WW, he just fights there because that's where the $$ has been.
Oh he won alright. By disqualification in a match he was soundly losing. Officially it's a W, but it shouldn't add anything to Baldomir's stock. I feel sincere doubt that you watched that fight.
I am in no way disputing what happened, simply pointing out that Baldo beat Clottey. It doesn't add anything to Baldomir's stock. But if you list Clottey as a quality win for Manny whilst crapping on the Baldo fight, it bears mentioning.
Just don't list Clottey as a quality win at WW and there is no need to remind people clottey lost to Baldo.
Come on now fellas, lets be adult men. Latinbrawler brought up baldomir. All I posted was Baldomir beat clottey.
Facts shouldn't elicit this type of response from adults.

did any of those guys look impressive before he fought them???? Heck no!!! Smoke and mirrors

Really, Baldomir...
come on!
It's never long before Carlos 'The Lineal' Baldomir enters the conversation is it?

Again, as I've stated earlier, TS is pointing out that the fighters weren't ranked at WW even though most were rated well at 140 or P4P. Unless you are stating that a 147 fighter beating a 140 fighter can't be a big win (a la Mayweather/Hatton for instance), then the TS's points are moot.

Mosley was after a draw, not a loss
Cotto was after a win
Rios was after both were coming off of losses (I wonder if Rios had won if you would be saying 'well Pacquiao was coming off of a loss')
did any of those guys look impressive before he fought them???? Heck no!!! Smoke and mirrors
sounds familiar
rios was after a loss
mosley was after a loss and a draw, hadn't won in years
cotto...a tko loss and almost losing to clottey
bradley is the only fighter this decade that was top ten at welterweight or 154 when he faced them....smdh
most the opponents he fought this decade, he chose to fight them after struggling or outright losing.
hence the smoke and mirrors....how long are you suppose to live off what you did over 5 years ago???b]
nothing but truth here
