HBO is second to none, Showtime is decent when they are actually showing boxing, but stupid **** like Teddy mentioning the LSC fist shake EVERY DAMN ROUND was stupid and annoying, it's part of why I'm not a big fan of ESPN and PBC.
It was Atlas doing what Atlas does best - showcasing his own greatness. Remember when he was the trainer for Povetkin during the Chagaev fight? In between rounds, he was behaving like he was in a Rocky movie - pointing to the skies to invoke the spirit of Povetkin's dead father, then in other rounds just outright screaming at him. Right then, I realised what he was - a narcissistic fool, a wannabe boxing guy who can't stand to be in the background. This is the idiot who got up in Foreman's face during the Moorer fight build-up.
LSC-Mares was a terrific fight but this idiot did his best to spoil it.
... Povetkin fought beyond what he'd shown prior and won. If he'd done all that and Povetkin had gotten bludgeoned, then you might have a point.
you don't.
'The tide's coming in, and you're building sandcastles, and the tide keeps coming in...'
That analogy was ****ing brilliant, especially in the actual context that it was brought up in; Malignaggi had come into the fight, wanting to do something, and, piece by piece, you saw Danny Garcia taking away his options, until he was completely swamped (with the kindness of the referee saving him from an absolute bludgeoning late, just as Paulie ran out of options).
Bow and arrow? Didn't he used to tap his head too?
probably, but you see a lot of fighters do that; probably some reset quirk that they picked up as amateurs.
I point out the "bow and arrow" (when Taylor throws his double-jab/right straight, he ****s back his right hand, almost always, on his second jab) because Bernard Hopkins picked it up, initially only insinuated knowing about it, befuddled Taylor for their two fights, and then told the world what he saw.
From that point on, the jig was up for Taylor (pick/catch/parry/slip the first jab and Taylor's guard was open), with the habit so ingrained that it was too late for Taylor to fix it.
Santa Cruz's hand twitch is probably just a reset quirk (only saw the roll when it seemed like Santa Cruz was out of punch range but coming forward) than a fatal flaw. Teddy seemed to think otherwise (not sure how many Santa Cruz fights he'd seen before this one)
It was thought to be but in my opinion it was a snooze fest and poor matchmaking.
A fight between two quality fighters that saw 2k punches thrown was a snooze fest? Throw is a pretty evenly matched undercard fight and the whole thing was poor match making? Really?
Let me guess, you'd rather watch ggg slap the crap out of one no hoper after another on HBO
yeah right?
what does he want mares to do about the shaking??
react to it lsc's little shaking and go in and try to tag him???
it only takes like a split second to shake his right hand, and its not like it goes anywhere.
yea sometimes teddy can be annoying lol..
but i dont hate anything or anyone becaues of that. chill out!
peaaaaace
Bolded x100. Shaking his fist means nothing. I was so annoyed with Teddy (like I usually am) because there is nothing to take advantage of there. If he was moving it lower out of habit, Teddy would have a point, but that sh.t was stupid
well it's like a toaster in which one of the toast slots is broken and the other is popping up way too often so you have this pop pop pop! on one side and youre getting your toast -- youre getting too much of it in fact -- and you dont have another slice to pair with it -- one side of teddy's brain is firing out dumb analogies while the other side just shuts down completely and waits for someone to slap him across the face -- and thats why you need to work behind the jab
lol..........

No problem with Teddy what so ever. Yeah he rambles on and on sometimes but the man loves and is passionate about boxing. I like ESPN Team :dunno: I like Teddy Key's to the fight before the fight he is usually extremely accurate and does his homework on fighters.
Teddy Atlas knowledge of Boxing> Most On This Forum COMBINED!
It is a few Pacquiao fans still bitter towards him because of comments he made about Pacquiao years ago. When he Picked Pacquiao over Mayweather they was loving him :lol1:
I hate Atlas calling fights more than anyone else. I think he had a few amateur fights but he thinks he is the greatest boxing expert in the world. He talks non stop through every minute of every round and most of what he has to say is stupid and wrong. He said Mares could do more things well than Santa Cruz. He talked about the fist shaking which had no effect on the outcome of the fight. He even talked about climbing up hills in a crab apple fight. He is stupid, noisy and wrong and talks about real estate and wheel houses and crab apple fights and every other thing except boxing. Why do they pay him to ruin my enjoyment of good fights?
you are right about atlas. I mute the sound when he is there. he never shuts up in love with himself. what is good about atlas is you can make good money betting against fighters he says will win. he is never right

what's wrong with what teddy atlas said?
Every single time he does that fist shake... he doesn't punch...
watch closely as when he's not shaking his right fist is when he's gonna throw a punch.....
instead of being butt hurt, pay attention.
Okay guys, before you turn the lights off upstairs, you gotta wash the dishes downstairs! You wanna open and close the front door before going upstairs to slam the window shut! I'm Teddy Atlas and I have no indoor voice!
Atlas has always sucked... I was excited to find out FNF was gone because that meant no more Atlas and that show had horrible fights with horrible commentary. I was then horrified to learn he was coming back with PBC. How this guy has a job still is beyond me.
The fist shake...or wrist twist... was part of a consistent pattern. LSC does his tic. Then goes to high guard... then shoots. That sort of pattern can either be something to capitalize upon.. or something that is demoralizing.
Depending on whether the fighter facing LSC can do anything about it.
As I mentioned in another thread.... Leo's wide variety of shot selection make it harder to time him, but... it's fairly obvious when he is going to attack, just not necessarily what he'll throw
A guy like Rigo could probably pick him apart and show how such a small seemingly harmless habit could be used against Cruz.
'The tide's coming in, and you're building sandcastles, and the tide keeps coming in...'
"Remember when your mom told you not to go through that bad neighbourhood when you were a kid? Well Mares has gotta go across to that bad side of the street. If he gets mugged then so be it"
:tragedy:
Bet you he doesn't have a meltdown on the next PBC robbery
There hasn't been one yet. In fact, apart from the one draw score the other night they've all been among the best score cards in recent years and consistently well scored.
So far, PBC has done nothing but great stuff for the boxing fans. It's beyond absurd that the only people against seem to be against because of the owners relationship with one boxer.
Some boxing fans (the really ****ing ******* ones) seem as if they'd rather go back to paying $60 for cards that are no better than what we are seeing on PBC, but usually with much ****tier undercards. The fact that there are any fans actively against this and bagging it out just show how pathetically deluded they are and what weak minded sheep they are.
We are getting good free boxing. What is not to like?!? It hasn't even been a slow process getting up to fights that are of a good, high quality. We are seeing great fights already that we'd normally have to pay good money for and still are for other companies!
We just saw Mares/Santa Cruz for free with a good undercard. How is that, on any planet, a bad thing?
Anyway...enough anti-PBC ranting.
It's a tiny habit that didn't have nearly enough time for Mares to react to. It's not like he was dropping his hands in time with his stepping or anything. It was hardly an issue at all. Teddy can be good, but sometimes he just goes off on one, which make no sense and can be very frustrating.
