Let's take a spin around the rumor mill once again, because, well, why not? Talks has been heating up that Thurman-Porter and Garcia-Guerrero are both in the works for later this fall. Although the Twittersphere is catching fire about these potential fights, FightHype is also citing sources who are substantiating that these match-ups are really being negotiated.
According to their sources, Thurman-Porter is being considered to go on a Oct. 3 PBC card featuring Adrien Broner vs. Khabib Allakhverdiev, and Garcia-Guerrero is being considered for a late October date. With all that speculation out of the way, let's just consider the match-ups themselves at face-value.

Why are all the PBC fighters wasting their primes with bad matchups? Porter and Thurman the only 2 guys that have some balls, the rest is just happy picking cherries, making easy paydays and fooling the fans. Pathetic, these arent real fighters, there are just forgettable nobodies.
They're protecting their records
Porter vs Thurman sounds good, but no thanks on Garcia vs Guerrero, Robert needs a soft touch, Thurman almost stopped him, came back 3 months after that fight and almost lost to a 30 to 1 dog (he probably lost).
How about Garcia vs Khan? Garcia has fought soft lately, so has Khan. All 4 want to be a star, these are the type of match ups we should be seeing, not Algeri or Paulie.
Too much talent at 140-147 to not make some great fights.
... Khan doesn't want that fight, and Haymon, as he's done with most of the other fighters that he works with, isn't going to force anyone of his guys into fights that they don't want. Brook, Garcia, Maidana, and Thurman, among others, are ready to fight Amir Khan whenever he wants to fight.
Guerrero has had a long run and, frankly, I'm not sure how many fights he has left; he's 32 now, has been fighting professionally since he was 18 years old, has had 37 fights, and is still a relatively marketable name at this point.
A Garcia fight is likely to put a pretty big payday in Guerrero's pocket, and then he can take a break and get matched soft for a few fights (with his next big fight coming against Erroll Spence Jr in 2017); at that point, whether he wants to keep fighting on after that is on him and his team.
Hope So! Time to take the Training Wheels off of a lot of these fighters and for those who don't want to step up, demote them to Bounce TV or Fox Sports 1 and cut their Pay. PBC is a great format but other than Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Arthur Beterbiev, Eroll Spence Jr and a few others, everybody seems to be playing things very safe because they don't want to lose their spot and stop making that good Al Haymon money I guess :dunno:
I don't think Guerrero being the second opponent for Garcia at 147 is a bad thing at all
I agree with the rest, but Spence has fought absolutely nobody at this point.

I don't like Guerrero vs Garcia. I think Garcia will time him and knock Guerrero the fck out.
Now Thurman vs Porter is the fight that intrigues me. Sadly I think this fight will lack the spectacle a lot of people are beginning to expect from this match. Thurman seems content with grinding out decisions rather than living up to his nickname, and Porter will put enough pressure on Thurman to have him on the back foot all night.

:lol1: When the best part about a fight isn't actually the fight.
I think guerrero is about done. I see garcia stopping him given the styles.
Yeah I like Guerrero but he's done and should retire. He is "made to order" for Garcia and Robert will fight just hard enough to lose and make Garcia look good in the process.
I gained a lot of respect for Garcia after the Matthyse fight, and ever since than he is fighting soft touch after soft touch.
When is he gonna step up and take a real challenge? Guererro was just about out on his fee against Aaron Cab Driver Martinez for Christ Sake!!!!!!!
Guererro is DONE!!!!!! This fight is terrible. It seems after the Matthyse fight he is just looking to pad and over inflate his resume.

Too much talent at 140-147 to not make some great fights.guerrero was badly hurt and dropped by martinez who isn't known for his power.thats the sign of a shot fighter.he does not belong with garcia he could take permanent damage.

seems like porter and thurman are the only PBC fighters willing to fight the best available. the rest are all happy with their constant mismatches.
I think haymon will serve up better stuff once mayweather has finished up.
Best part about the Garcia-Guerrero fight is watching Angel and Ruben go at it during the build up. I can see Angel snatching that Heisenberg hat off of Ruben's head during the press conference and Ruben losing his **** on stage. :lol1:

When is Danny Garcia going to fight a "somebody." And by that I mean a fighter in their prime. The last one was matthysse and it's been soft touch after soft touch. Guerrero looks like he gets hit and hurt easier now. Just in time to serve him up to Danny. I hope Guerrero has his best camp and beats this dude.
I don't like Garcia-Guerrero. Guerrero looks shot and it could get ugly. He is a good guy, don't want to see him turn into the new Castillo. At least he is getting paid though.
