When will Haymon consistently give us good matchups?

That's just the way Boxing on TV is Its not going to be all killer INthink most of you posters set the bar too high and expect to much Fights this year HBO: Matthysse/Provodnikov Kovalev/Pascal GGG/Lemieux Canelo/Cotto (upcoming) Postol/Matthysse(with a good undercard with Soto) PBC: Mares/Santa Cruz Thurman/Guerrero Garcia/Broner HBO by far has the better product this year. Your Wrong in my opinion PBC has slayed HBO as far as competitive match ups this year. HBO has the more exciting fights , by and large though it's almost all extreme mismatches. PBC in 5 months Thurman / Guerrero Garcia / Peterson Quillen / Lee Porter/ Broner Dirrell / Degeale LSC / Mares Plus a slew of other decent match ups Are all good match ups that actually meant something. When you guys watch sports do you want to see the best vs the best or just be entertained ,It's like I'm a basketball fan and don't want to watch the NBA playoffs I'd rather watch the And1 mixtape circuit games because they dunk nice. Three of those HBO fights haven't even happened yet :lol1: And 2 of those are PPV, Don't get it twisted Cotto/Canelo is a great fight and GGG / Lemiux is decent but still I still haven't figured out how Postol has got a following and this has become a anticipated fight , The guys had 2 fights in 2 years 1 against aydin and the other against the 321st ranked WW. Are people going to his sparring sessions or something.

Yeah but PBC has the roster to put up great fights but they haven't. they have the roster and numerous tv dates to make these fights. hbo only has a limited number of slots and even if a promoter gets a date he usually has to work with other promoters to make fights which can be tricky business. all that a-side/b-side crap, purse splits, options for future fights. haymon doesn't have to deal with any of that. haymon just has to work with himself but he still refuses to make good fights.

Yeah but PBC has the roster to put up great fights but they haven't. You have to build up the audience first. You can't expect Al to use up his best fighters in his first year. The man has a 4 year plan.

When it comes to the fight game. He's an inexperienced novice and amateur. He refuses to pitch his best fighters against each other; Which is hurting the sport. Unlike the Bob Arum's and Don King's he's not giving the boxing public the fights that they want to see. People tune in to watch good competitive fights not exhibitions. It's the reason why HBO draws the line in the sands when it comes to matchmaking, in order to prevent the constant cherry picking seen by Al Haymon fighters along with their mismatches.

In the fall. Seems July and August just keeping guys active. HBO had one event un July, one event in June and nothing in August. PBC is on every week. been hearing that for years now. this should be the time to strike then right? no competition, no football season...yet still crappy fights.

If you put HBO top fights or even meaningful fights up against PBC, you pretty much have the same quality of fights

Never, no promoter does that consistently or will ever do it, it won't be good business. They have to push down our throats a bunch of divas fighting tomato cans to pad their records and make them appear interesting so we pay even more when they go to ppv, or anybody thinks that haymon will keep things free when he gets most of the "stars" under his umbrella?

HBO is the top boxing network in the US and has been around for 30 years. PBC's been around for 6 months.

It is not just Haymon. The posters on this message board just like to pretend that Haymon is the only one giving fans bad matchups. Why is it that a certain fan base will not criticize Haymon? Look at who Garcia, Thurman, and Jacobs just fought. Paulie, Collazo, and Mora have not been relevant in many years and you got a platform like ESPN and those guys are in the main events. How can anybody defend that?

He's just going to put on poor fights, and waste the money and opportunity. Seems senseless. Hopefully Schaefer can turn it around.

never. look at his track record with hbo and showtime. why would he suddenly change now? look at the talent he has at 147, 154, and 175 yet he refuses to make good fights and before any haymon defenders say well he's just doing what everyone else does wrong! everyone else has to fight to get tv dates and they have to work with other promoters to get fights done. haymon has all the dates and all the fighters yet still nothing good.

I blame fighters not Haymon. When Broner wanted Maidana he got him. When Russell wanted the WBO belt he let him fight Lomachenko. Quillin, Thurman and these other fighters are getting soft touches because they want them and they can hide behind Haymon for protection.
