Danny Garcia is growing on me...

I mean the guy's been the underdog time and time again and he's always defies the odds. He's earned my respect and I think a lot of you are stuck in the contemporary, yes his last few fights have been controversial and appalling (Salka) but the dude's growing on me. I'm confident he'll get back on track and be one of the best guys at 147. He's a big dude and wont have to kill himself to make weight anymore. Plus, he is actually a nice, chilled guy. This weeknd, he'll be taking on Paulie in an undesirable fight however that is the style he's struggled against so he may be able to answer some questions. Long live the six toed, retarded, left death punch! :boxing: I still believe Matthysse beats him in a rematch though lol For the record: -I had Herrera beating Garcia 8-4 -I had Peterson winning 8-4 but on second watch I had it 7-5 Garcia, Peterson gave away too many rounds. He was battering Danny late but he left it too late. Peterson's slickness in that fight impressed me but his lack of output cost him a winnable fight. It could have went either way and I wouldn't complain.

I must've missed the part where Peterson was an easy fight. ****outtahere Peterson schooled him but the sad part is Peterson wasn't the fight people wanted to see, Danny and his team seen this as an easy option over giving the fans what they wanted to see the rematch with Lucas was certainly more highly sought after.

I think Khan got too reckless and I fancy Khan in a rematch. Garcia wasn't even looking when he threw that hook. I wouldn't say "lucky" but he was fortunate. Khan has said he made the mistake of looking for a KO. Garcia had two bad cuts and Amir tried to force the stoppage. That is exactly why I want to see the rematch. I think Khan this time wins a clear UD.

I agree. The win over Lucas definitely made me a fan. It shows that the Amir Khan win was no fluke. Of course now he just beat Peterson, struggled, but beat. Definitely awaiting his WW run. Malignaggi is not a bad first WW fight to dip your feet in the water. I really really do hope it's Khan-Garcia II in fall. I think Khan got too reckless and I fancy Khan in a rematch. He was on a high after beating Lucas, but since then things have gone backwards. I thought he lost to Peterson and Herrera; and wins like Judah and Morales II don't do anything for any decent fighters career. Obviously the Salka fight was crazy bad. As is the Paulie fight. Khan and Lucas were very good wins. I just feel he is overrated though..a good boxer can take away his left hook, and without it Garcia looks out of ideas. I feel he will struggle at 147.

Garcia has relaxed himself too much. Between 2011-2013 he was finding W's against top level opponents out of nowhere, high pressure fights. Once he'd racked up enough, it had felt like he'd 'made it' in boxing, then came what was basically an exhibition bout against Herrera in Puerto Rico, got saved by the judges, and everything since then has felt like a regression. I think he's enjoying life right now. He's a star athlete, he's getting paid, he's got a child due soon, all very comfortable. It's easy to settle on that mentally, rather than to keep pushing.

Danny is only 27 years old, he is still very young but I'm not seeing any improvement under Angel Garcia. He has short arms so him being a back foot fighter will never work, he is going to have to come forward and mix up his punches. I agree that he needs a new trainer but I think he could be a back foot fighter against aggressive fighters like Porter. His back foot game plan with Matthysse was phenomenal, best performance of his career. Countered on the backfoot, didn't get into any trades and clinched whenever in range to be caught. No sloppy hooks either as he didn't want to get countered...then again Lucas had one eye and was winning 4-2 before the eye shut.

Devon Alexander DEMOLISHED Maidana amd no ome talks Abiut that 1/10 the way you guys bring up Garcia beating Matthysse. Heck Judah and Alexander best Matthysse we don't talk about that either. truth, Danny lost 2 of 3 of his last 3 fights snd his one win is Salka. Matthysse demolishing Ruslan more impressive than anything Danny done since beat Lucas. You dudes watched so may crappy fights since Haymon, you praise a ni66a for winning. A few tough fights. These are top 10 guys in there division, almost every fight should be tough! Lol truuuuueeee

I agree that Garcia gets too much criticism but using the likes of Zab Judah to pad your argument doesn't help. It's one of the weaker names on there but he wasn't a pushover for Garcia at all.

He also lost 2/3 fights. I was a Garcia fan, but not anymore, has nothing to do with him losing either, guy shows no drive to win anymore, makes excuses, and how do you go down in competition after beating Lucas? Haymon has destroyed an entire generation of fighters, these dudes don't woro to get better anymore because they know he will line up fights that are easy, and even when they lose they'll get the decision. Danny has gotten worse since mattysse, not better, and that's sad. Yeah, I used to like him and his dad. Then they turned into delusional Haymon ass kissers once they tasted success. Its ok to lose, have close fights, a showcase fight once in a while, but dont act like you have no clue what the reality is. And the BS about weight, battle with the scale...yet no direct jump to 147 until now, and against Paulie? Cmon.

He was top 10 P4P after Matthysse, but looked iffy against Herrera and Peterson and he wasted time fighting Rod Salka. So right now, despite having a good resume, he is no longer on the P4P radar as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't help that he is fighting Malignaggi next. Hopefully he looks good in this fight and goes on to have the success in 147 he had in 140.
