Lol this poll.Thurman beats him and would be heavy betting favourite at any point. This forum is so far out of touch with reality, thurmans beat everyone and maidana has losses to kotelnik khan and Alexander. Thurman is far too crisp and technically sound. And im a fan of both.
lol exactly my thoughts...
If Chino can return to even 50% of his old form then he has a shot but anything less and Thurman wins a decision!
Prime Chino would bully and brutalize Thurman and have Keith on his bike potshotting all night!
Unlike Lopez, Maidana throws more punches and is the superior puncher and throws better jabs!
The Maidana that Garcia changed would beat Keith!
the thing is we have to see chino back first to see how he looks. if he looks decent then do it. but how about thurman? he looked really bad last time around vs a guy who was there to make him look like a monster again
It would never happen. If Thurman avoids a fight with Porter, he damn sure won't fight Maidana.
Well if Maidana returns to WW, Thurman might be forced to vacate.
I have Maidana stopping Thurman early in a war. Thoughts?

You're not alone. I think Thurman wins by brutal KO or landslide decision. People are really over rating Maidana because he had gave Mayweather so much trouble. Thurman will hurt Maidana and keep him hesitant to throw punches with any volume. Thurman has a lot more power than Mayweather and he can set up Maidana with a punch that hurts him. Does everyone forget how badly hurt Maidana was by Josesito Lopez and Khan....and Victor Ortiz. Thurman is better than all of them.
In the Lopez fight he turned the tide and stopped his opponent. Ortiz quit on his stool and questioned his very purpose in life on camera. Khan went life and death and almost didn't make it; in a 15 rounder he gets stopped in the 13th.
Thurman is better than those fighters, I agree with that. But you are underrating Maidana as a boxer, he would control the fight with Thurman, hurt him badly in the mid rounds, and finish him swiftly, before moving on and unifying the division.
I guess I'm alone on this one. I have Thurman stopping Chino by brutal body shot.

Fictional matchups are usually reserved for current fighters vs fighters of a previous generation. Unfortunately, in Thurman's case, fictional matchups involve current fighters that he will never face, like Shawn Porter and Marcos Maidana.
This would be a good fight. Both are tough. Both come to fight. Both have power. I think Thurmond still has the ability to be better. We have not seen him tested. If Maidana brings it we will need to see Thurmond rise to the occasion to win. I believe that he will. Should be an exciting fight. See it going 7 or 8 rounds, ending in a KO.
Before last Saturday I was leaning towards Thurman but now I'm leaning the other way.
Thurman doesn't seem to handle his opponent pressuring him that well. If Marcos can apply pressure the way he did in the first Floyd fight then I think he easily takes it.
Marcos's weight though is a question mark for me as he's clearly way out of shape right now, who knows if he'll ever have the drive to be what he was after getting those Floyd paychecks. Unless Manny fights Marcos then Marcos has already fought his biggest fight ever and that affects some guys mentally. Other than a possible Manny fight, Marcos will never be on as big of a stage as he was his last two fights.
Luckily Thurman is big and could meet Marcos at 154 if Maidana can't get back to WW.
This is obviously assuming he is in fighting shape at the time lol.

Khan finished Maidana years ago, he's never been the same fighter since. Floyd fought a shell of Maidana. Khan's leftovers, as such. Having said that Maidana might still have a shot to beat Thurman, he's good but always thought he was a bit overrated, just like I had the same suspicion about both Broner and Porter and we all saw what happened in those two cases.
Not even close to the same fighter, Maidana would murder Khan today.
