For most ko title defenses in a row, golovkin is at 14. The record is at 17 kos held by Wilfredo Gomez, a huge legend in the sport. Kinda amazing when you think about it, and realistically, he isn't that far off from Joe Louis either for most kos for title defenses. Considering he fights 4 or 3 times a year, it might actually be possible to get to 23 knockouts for title defenses.
Not an alt, my last accounts were banned for calling out racist punks like you. They were Adam Doyle and ImStillHere....I'm not hiding...I'm not GGG when Lara's name comes up
See, when you mention Lara's name in the context of his supposed ducking by GGG, you tell all there is to know about your objectivity.

I dont know much about Gomez, but louis defended the actual lineal HW championship 25 times. There were no other belts for opponents to hide behind, no promotional cold wars. Please dont compare what Golovkin is doing to what Joe Louis achieved.
Whats the most lucrative fight, Ward? So wheres the offer, so we can judge how lucrative? Not even Roc Nation wants to bid on it, nm Hbo
did you actually read the post or watch the video? or did oyu just look at my andre ward avatar and assume i'm a fanboy, like the little british froch fans / shirelings?
The difference is that besides Salka, Garcia also has Mattessye, Peterson, Khan, Morales and Judah on his resume. Any of these fighters are head and shoulders above anyone ggg has fought. See the difference
And you think that justifies him fighting somebody like Salka?
No, I didn't think so. Don't try using such weak logic.
So he was "#1" in the belt ranking for IBF? And that matters what exactly? HAHAHAHAHA trying to justify GGG fighting a 154 lbr. Fuk outta here. Ishida? why cuz he beat chinless kirkland?? LMAO
And who had Rod Salka beat or fought before facing Garcia?
Nobody? I thought so.
Once again, Ishida and Rosado >>>>>>>>> Salka
Rosado was ranked #1 JMW by the IBF before his fight with Golovkin. You're an idiot as usual. Just stop, please :lol1:
"after a trio of emphatic victories at 154, Gabriel Rosado gave up his #1 ranking as a junior middleweight for the opportunity to challenge middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin on HBO"
Once again, Ishida and Rosado > miles better than any of Cruz recent opponents or Rod Salka.
Log off.

gomez, IIRC, was the lineal champion
i know that the WBA / WBC had fractured the world championship belt by the 70's, but i'm pretty sure that gomez established legitimate lineage and was ring mag champion when he beat the korean bloke for the 122 lb title.
golovkin is an alphabet soup champion. he's the best fighter at 160 according to anybody with a working set of eyeballs, but he's not the legit champ.
the legit champ is miguel cotto. he beat martinez. martinez beat pavlik. pavlik beat taylor. taylor beat hopkins. you can't get a more lineal champion than bernard hopkins at MW. dude was the definition of lineage, which he established when he boxed off for a vacant lineage against tito trinidad in '01.
Yeah this post accurately deals with the original post. Comparing the whole recognised championship to Golovkin's single belt is a bit weird. But 'title defences' barely mean anything, and hardly did back then (take Joe Louis for example) unless those defences meant something themselves.
As a HUGE tangent though, I find the idea of championship inherently flawed. The idea that one, as a (lineal) champion, is better (or even more comparable to past fighters) than a guy who is practically the consensus best of the division, just because he is the (lineal) champion seems absurd to me.
Its a flawed system, as championships can never really follow consensus indefinitely. The lineal system is far better than the ABC titles, as it follows consensus much more often, but I don't believe it should be taken at face value alone as it often fails too. GGG/Cotto, Huck/Hernandez are prime examples, but even ones such as Gonzales/Estrada provoke some discussion.
Yea I have to agree right now the fight that is most lucrative for both is each other ward vs ggg
Wheres the money coming from? I see zero on the table. Thats not lucrative

again, you did this in another thread like a child. i think it's my avatar. i haven't had those things turned on in years.
you can go ahead and read my posts concerning andre ward, if you'd like.
as for golovkin trying to fight floyd mayweather, here you go:
he's not trying to get the most lucritive fight in the world for him in spite of the fact that he's saying he wants it, and it is the most lucrative possible fight
you're probably some dude i bufu'd in another thread. continue to look at my andre ward avatar and respond to it like a child. that's what all the top posters do when they see me.

But Ward deserves no share of the blame because he wants tune up fights before even talking about a GGG fight? As for Cotto, I don't give a fvck if he was 5 feet tall and 98 pounds. He holds the MIDDLEWEIGHT WBC AND RING TITLES and Golovkin is his legitimate MANDATORY challenger. Either he fights GGG or he vacates his title. And GGG in no way, shape or form is trying to fight Mayweather. You must be one of those people who took that TMZ video of Oscar to be 100% serious as well.
And yeah, it's time you actually recognize things for what they really are, not for what fools try to spin them into.

Then what is your point? They are fighters moving up that have been previously ranked within the top 20's and faced some good opposition. Rosado held a #1 IBF JMW ranking and could've fought for a title but instead decided to go up and fight Golovkin.
Who had Rod Salka fought before Garcia? What was his rankings in other divisions?
Shut the hell up, fool.
The difference is that besides Salka, Garcia also has Mattessye, Peterson, Khan, Morales and Judah on his resume. Any of these fighters are head and shoulders above anyone ggg has fought. See the difference
I am a Golovkin fan (I don't understand how anyone that likes boxing wouldn't be) and I would be disappointed if he fought someone in that Monroe, Heiland, Johnson group. However, what if nobody else wants to fight him? Then should he just sit out and wait until next year? Even if he moves up, who at 168 really wants a piece of him this fall?
All of this might be true, but if ggg ever wants to be included in the discussion of great fighter, he needs to step up his level of competition. At 33, the clocks ticking.
GGG really needs to go out and buy a bling cap ASAP. Also wouldnt hurt if he started training outside in direct sunlight in an aluminum foil covered ring while covered in oil to accelerate a dark tan. :lol1:
or he could start fighting A list opposition
i'm not sure if you're mentioning that to the thread, or me specifically.
golovkin cannot be punished because he is avoided at middleweight by alvarez or by cotto. he can't be punished because he was avoided by martinez, either.
we still can't call him the lineal champion. i'd love to. believe me. he's the best fighter in that division.
he should receive some criticism for his apparent unwillingness to fight andre ward, particularly as he tries to fight cotto and mayweather, who are markedly smaller guys. i understand that they box for money, but we need to recognize these things for what they are.
alvarez and golovkin are pretty close in size, and alvarez has technically been a middleweight for a while now.

Fighters deciding to move up? Your point?
You trying to say Rosado and Ishida aren't miles better than Rod Salka in any ranking system? You're a moron, for sure. I've heard it all now
They moved up to fight and lose to GGG so now they are bums, always were bums and always will be bums. But Cotto was the image of courage in moving up to fight a crippled Sergio and even if he had lost, Javi would still be saying what a great, courageous move Cotto made to move up and challenge such a great champion as Martinez. But if Martinez had fought GGG instead and gotten utterly annihilated, Golovkin would have been portrayed as a bully who was picking on an injured, ready to retire valiant champion.
It's all on how you twist things.
Lol now compare their resumes and have yourself a few laughs. Hahahahaha
If he fights 40 more times, he can break Julio Caesar Chavez Sr.'s recording of beating 71 Tijuana taxi drivers in a row before fighting a quality opponent.
So what? He is just doing what is excepted of him in putting away C and D level fighters.
