Great news!
The big 4 broadcast TV channels, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX.
Cable channels, NBCSN, ESPN, FS1, Spike, and Bounce TV.
And I think they're maintaining their relationship with Showtime for PPV possibilities in the future.
CBS/Showtime is seemingly a package deal (you're unlikely to see Wilder/Chavez Jr/Stevenson/Frampton on any of the other outlets)
I didn't mention Top Rank or Golden Boy or any other promoter. Corruption is everywhere in boxing and bad judging is usually more about incompetence than conspiracy.
The corruption mostly comes down to unfair advantages, uneven opportunities, and the fans being robbed from not being able to see the matchups they want. Haymon certainly has enough power to change that, but he has not.
And yes, the goal is to run a monopoly. You are very naive if you think a promoter can just call Haymon and get his fighter on tv. Every fighter that has been on PBC shows is either signed to Haymon or signed to one of Haymon's employees. Anyone else I'm missing was just paid to take a beating from a Haymon fighter. Does this happen on top rank cards too? Yes. But that isn't my point. I don't root for promoters and if I did, it would probably be for a small promoter trying to survive and make a living. Can any of them do that for much longer? Probably not.
Let's take Artur Beterbiev for an example: This guy is talented, hungry, exciting and wants to face the best. He recently signed with Haymon after a long time of going back and forth. His promoter is GYM, who is basically an employee for Haymon. Haymon pays GYM a nice fee so he can use GYM's promoter's license to put on shows, and GYM happily takes the money so he can survive and make money in boxing. Beterbiev wants to fight Kovalev but he won't get the chance. He wants to fight Stevenson but probably won't get the chance for a long while. But because he is signed to GYM he is pretty much forced to sign with Haymon. Yes, I'm sure the money is good, but its not optimal for the fans.
I would rather there be some governing body that mandated 3 fights per year in each weight class that have to take place or the participants and their promoters are suspended for a period of time. If the arrangements cannot be made, there should be some designated arbitrators (that can't be bought) to help make them happen and sort out network/promotion issues. This way, while you can never force a fight completely, ducking and maneuvering based on money and power and step asides and catchweights etc will be close to eliminated. Yes, I know I'm probably dreaming, but this would be a better scenario than one man, with a hedge fund backing him, forcing people to work for him or get out of this business completely.
The image that you were deliberately try to push was one of PBC being the personification of some sort of corruption that only occurs within their sphere; don't try and get defensive when you get called on your bull****.
And let's look at Artur Beterbiev; the guy is currently ranked in the top 5 of all of the governing bodies, has a promoter that is backing him with plenty of effort/money, and he'll likely never get the chance to fight Sergey Kovalev because Team Kovalev would rather vacate the belt, and fight a can for 1/4th the money, all in the name of holding firm to HBO's coattails. GTFOH
PBC doesn't have enough quality fighters to fill the airtime...
The only shows that require star fighters are the primetime telecasts on NBC/ESPN; every other show can be built around tossup fights (Degale/Dirrell, Dirrell/Jack, etc) and stage fights (Figueroa-Burns in Omar's hometown).
Unless Fox offers up another 9 primetime shows on FOX, PBC should be fine
i made a thread along time ago where i stated that oscar should just sell his promotion to haymon and schaffer! but no one bleieved me,now look at him,
he is a shot man both hpysically and mentally and emotionally,,he has no momentum left inm the sport!! hes literally finished and haymon brutally KOd him and took everything he has ever had in the sport of boxing,
Stacks my man,,, long time no see,, your my favorite alt
Reading this thread, you'd think this was an anti-boxing site. What a miserable bunch of btching malcontents. Bravo to Haymon for giving network boxing a go. I've seen more events this year than ever before and now some guys are actually fighting more often. It's not perfect, but boxing is better than it's been in literally decades.
I do not know why ppl complain so much of PBC. It has brought boxing to many networks and the is more fights than before. This company just started and it is just a matter of time that it will stay mainstream if they continue in the pace that they are going.
Because it's Haymon's. You should know how it goes on this site. They choose a guy they worship and after that they will diss not even the fighters rivals but those rivals' fans, the rival television channels of their favourites' channel's, the rival promoters of their favourite's promoter's and so on...
Slowly they will be hating even on the rival gloves brand of their favourites' glove brand's. It's woeful.
Not great news imo, but it's not like Golden Boy was putting on too many amazing cards on FS1 either. They occasionally had a good matchup, but I expect these PBC mismatches will be about on par with those. Haymon sucks.
Hope Fox1 doesn't give up their regular boxing cards over this.
You probably shouldn't be too optimistic about that. No more Golden Boy fights for sure.

Yes because Top Rank and ODH's GBP has NEVER had absolutely terrible scorecards. Nah. Its only Al Haymon's PBC that does terrible scorecards.
Also, Haymon is not running a "monopoly". All the promoters have to do is call haymon and say, "Hey I want my boxers on the show you provide".
:rofl::rofl::rofl::
Yep, that happens all the time.
Yeah this has been rumored for the last few weeks. Here comes more hate about ratings and how PBC is a failure and will run out of Money blah blah blah
PBC might or might not work, but it will be around for the next few years with all of these TV Deals.
Unfortunate for GBP but with the Split and Changes they just did not have the Roster anymore
I love boxing and despite not being a fan of Haymon's practices in the sport, I tried to give PBC a chance because boxing definitely needs big changes, but the corruption here is just as bad as ever if not worse, the product is just average if not worse, and although I believe there should be much stricter regulations in boxing, I don't believe its a sport that should be run as a monopoly. No hate, but I just don't like this.
explain corruption and how its any worse then say a top rank or gbp card this should be good.
Yes a promoter can call haymon. They have cell phones don't they?
So Dibella is a "haymon employee"?
He can fight Kovalev or Stevenson. Hes just not up there near in the rankings yet. I don't even think Beterbiev has 10 fights yet.
Yes, DiBella works for Haymon. Where have you been?
