I mean they help the pure boxer get an advantage with their larger circumference size so they can block a larger portion of their face with and can parry shots with ease.
every glove has their advantage to a particular fighter that is the reason why they wear them.
What if the roles were reverse and fighters with hand problems had to wear punchers glove that will clearly be a disadvantage to them, forcing punchers to wear non punchers gloves is a clear disadvantage to them.
This is not sparring nor is it the amateurs, its the hurt business. You cant baby proof this sport just cause a few fighters balls haven't dropped yet.
The UK boxing board disagrees.
Frank Warren a few weeks ago spoke on how bad the MX gloves are and how poor the protection offered by them is, now the board of control are banning them. Clearly there is a problem.
That's great for them.
I can base my judgement off of my experience, not some random counsel which probably has no boxing or equipment making experience. Fortunately for me, I have both.
Having used MX gloves for hundreds of rounds and compared them to Grant's own punchers gloves which I've also owned, I could argue that Grant punchers gloves have the same if not less padding over the knuckles. Both have quilted horse hair and foam, and I never had any issue with foam or horse hair shifting on either.
I look forward to reading exactly what research and comparisons they used to come to this decision. My guess, little to none. Because if they had, they'd be banning more than Everlast MX gloves.
Golovkin uses Grant punchers gloves. I'm not sure what style Wladimir uses.
The MX gloves do not become less padded. The foam and horsehair MX gloves are encased in a quilted nylon shell. The foam and horsehair does not dissipate over a 12 round fight.
Again the MX gloves are not easy to manipulate.

As long as they are commission approved you shoule be able to wear whatever pair of gloves you want. Let me explain the difference between foam an horsehair, neither will help you hit harder but horsehair doesn't absorb as much impact so it can be straining on the wrist as less of the shock will be absorbed but it will feel stronger. If you hit hard enough gloves are irrelavant though:
Maidana wears MX
Matthysse wears powerlocks
However there is a noticeable dofference between the gloves.
Everyone should wear the same gloves.
Punchers will be punchers no matter what the glove is. Golovkin flattens people in Grant gloves, as does Wladimir and many others.
The gloves should offer protection to the fighters hands and also not become less padded as they are used, which is apparently the big problem with those MX gloves.

The problem with horsehair, mx in particular, is that the padding is easily manipulated especially around the knuckles. And a lot of people have a problem with that. And it's hard to argue they shouldn't because it's very dangerous.

I saw a video where the CEO of rival talks about different gloves. He says that "punchers glove" is a nonsense term and that the amount of force a punch has is almost exactly the same no matter how they're made as long as they're the same weight.
The only difference with Reyes and Mx gloves is that they may inflict more cuts due to the protrouding knuckle. Compared to foam, horse hair doesn't return to its original shape after a punch. This means that as the are used, the knuckle becomes more and more open (which is dangerous for both fighters)
He said they aren't really appropriate and that gloves should use both foam and horsehair to protect fighters hands and faces.

Because foam gloves don't end up in fights where folks are being hit with basically bare knuckles.
Beyond that, Cleto Reyes gloves have been produce for years, with no real objections about them from anyone
All fighters have to wear the exact type of gloves so that the playing field is even, this sh1t with punchers gloves and boxers gloves needs to stop, the commission has to force all fighters to wear the same gloves, I think gloves that are designed to protect the hands are better cuz they protect ur hands on the long run even if u don't have hand problems, which is actually why boxers wear gloves, also these gloves don't cut up ur opponents face easily which is better for the fighters and to the fans since sometimes fans get robbed from great fights cuz the fight had to be stopped on cuts. It's about who's the better fighter, not whose hands can take more punishment.
