Yeah his condition seems to be getting worse. Respect to the man for doing what he's doing with a disease like parkinsons.
Cotto looks great doe. Damn that left hook looks scary.
Respect Freddie all you want but as much as the training keeps Freddie going and slows his disease, he is doing a disservice to his fighters as they are not getting the best quality training from him that they should be getting.
Maybe it is time he steps away from training top fighters for important fights and continues working with his top fighters between major bouts and spends more of his time training up and comers.
And some of the things coming out of his mouth lately are making me doubt his mental acuity as well. He may be doing more damage to his fighters right now than helping them.
He looks really bad here and needs to call it a day as a trainer. I think he is not 100% and should walk away after having a great career.
I would agree!!!
At a certain point everyone with Parkinson's should evaluate whether they should scale back on certain activities. And being a boxing trainer is stressful enough without combating a debilitating medical condition along side of that.
I may not agree with Roach on many points, but he's still a boxing icon. He needs to consider retirement and start looking for someone else to carry the heavy load at the Wildcard gym.
Tbh I don't care if he retire tomorrow. I would be happy with it. Don't misunderstand me I don't wish his death orhis condition to get worse I just hope for his retirement. Once because his health and twice because he's a fucking annoying prick who I won't miss for a minute.
That's some romanticized bull right there, dying doing what you love.
"He died doing what he loved, boxing"
"He died doing what he loved, cocaine"
"He died doing what he loved, autoerotic asphyxiation"
How about not dying doing the thing you love?
He's very strong mentally
He could easily complain in every interview he does but he only brings it up if asked about it
Got a lot of respect for the man
Its gettibg worse but the complex sequences involved in training fighters and doing mitts is actually slowing Parkinson's down so there's no problem with him carryibng on unless he physically can't.
He seems to be nearing his end. He supposed to have back surgery after this fight, that could help but if he's laid up for an extended period of time it could be the end of him on the mitts. He was already having trouble yelling to the fighters during the fights, I remember Ariza used to have yell out the instructions for Freddy during the rounds.
Looks good to me!
He's working on Cotto stepping out and not getting caught in front of his opponent. Putting a few combos together and even rolling underneath something you hardly see anymore. Freddy has brought Cotto new life and added millions in his pockets.
They better not go near GGG because you'll see the "old Cotto" that looked shot and past prime within 4 or 5 rounds. When you sustain damage it can be hidden by the right opponents but the wrong opponent can put a fighter right back where he once was.
Freddy has done a great job with Cotto.
Ray
Better to go out doing the things you love. It's not like like his mitt sessions are critical, or anywhere near as important as some people make them out to be. His fighters have plenty of people to work with when they really need to lay it on.
Have some respect for the man, please. I understand your concern but don't open the door for ****** trolls to chime in.
I admire Freddie and have the utmost admiration towards him.
I just watched the video and he looks fine. The thing with Parkinson's is that A) IT IS a degenerative disease so it gets progressively worse and B) Somedays it's worse than others. So it is normal for him not to look the same with the passing of time.
He said the physical labor is actually slowing down the process. He's breaking down slowly but surely doing what he loves. Can't knock him for that if people are still willingly paying for the product.
