Ok, this is kinda a stupid intro since I posed the question. The man is a great boxer and is undefeated for so many years, true! remarkable career.. but... people make it seem like skill wise there is nothing else remotely close to him in boxing today.
I think Rigondeaux, Gonzales, Lomachenko and Ward all have ATG skills too and are not that far off him at all.
Never beat an ATG in his prime. Always pre/post..
That is just the excuses haters use to discredit his victories. The guys are always prime/ or at least skilled world champions before Floyd faces them. After he beats them they weren't that good.
Nobody thinks hes in a league of his won. If he was in league of his own why did Cotto think Pac would beat Floyd? Why did Maidana think Pac would beat Floyd? Because Maidana didn't think FLoyd was that good and was overated.
As a businessman he is in a class all by himself.
Where you getting this b.s. from? Maidana said Manny couldn't beat Floyd.
There are numerous comments that I could make about this post. However, I will simply make this one. Regardless of what you think of Floyd Mayweather, it is an indisputable fact that no one has fought the level of competition that Floyd has fought in his last 12 fights. Everyone Floyd has fought in his last 12 fights have either been world champions at 147 or 154, a number one contender in Robert Guerrero or, in the case of Marquez, a world champion moving up in weight.
No other fighter on the planet can say that, in their last 12 fights, they have fought nine world champions (10 if you include the second fight against Maidana), one number one contender at their weight class and one world champion moving up in weight.
That is what puts Floyd in a league of his own.
you know its a lot of hate for him out their, when he clearly has fought the most rigorous competition since his comeback and people still say he ducked this person or is scared of this person......his competition has been the best in boxing and its not close
The last time he fought someone that wasn't a former/current/future champion was Henry Bruseles waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in January of 2005.....he fights a champion caliber fighter or top ten contender every time out......he is in a league of his own

Because he is
He is head and shoulders the best fighter of his era....from 1995-2015 he has made more money in the ring than any other fighter, won more championship fights than anyone else, is tied for most lineal titles in different weight classes all time, beat most of all the hall of famers in his era, near his weight....Pacquaio, ODLH, Mosley, Cotto, Hatton, Castillo, Corrales, Genaro Hernandez, Gatti....he is in a league of his own, in his era...no fighter is close....sorry Pac Fanatics, he never was on his level
He manages to make A and B level fighters look like D level scrubs. He neutered an ATG fighter in Pac. The only one near that level against that level of opponent is Rigo. Floyd deserves to be in a league of his own because he's done it for 19 years.
I think you meant to say Andre Ward
How can you be serious? ODH, shane, cotto and Manny all waited to fight Floyd. ODH and Shane because Floyd at that time was high risk, no reward. Cotto because he was at ringside and watched Floyd v Gatti (rip). Manny, we saw on May 2nd why he waited.
Come on man, I get you can hold Floyd accountable for not giving Manny what he wanted to make the fight earlier, but the other 3 guys you can't really be serious.
Come on Brotha
Floyd is the most powerful man in boxing are you telling me he couldn't have made those fights sooner ?
Leoanrd fought them all yeah he waited on Hagler but Hagler wasn't in his late 30's neither was Ray ..
As far as Cotto ok I'll give you that as he said he wasn't ready for Floyd but Oscar was pretty much shot as was Mosley by they time Floyd fought em ..This is why I can't put Floyd and Ray in the same sentence or even rank them close to each other ..Floyds fights above 130 for the most part are a joke ..His Resume at 140 is atrocious ! Then. At WW finally gets Manny but who else is there Maidana twice Marquez who never really had success outside of Manny at WW ..Ortiz Gurrero ? Really is this close to Hearns ,Benitez ,Duran or Hagler ? I mean really ?

The circus surrounding Pacquiao's supposed injured shoulder makes it clear to most that Arum and company caused the delay and cannot be trusted. The whole debacle was comical with them not knowing when it was hurt or even where it was hurt. Arum and Roach coaching Paquiao what to say about the injury on live TV at the post fight presser removed all doubt as to why the fight didn't get made years earlier. They literally had to correct him on what part of the body his injury was at.
But people don't think hes in a league of his own. They wouldn't pick him to lose if they thougth he was in a league of his own. They are underestimating him. He is better than people think he is.
Well that means he is a league of his own, i mean damn he has proven this clearly
This can't be serious ? Floyd has made a career of cherry picking !
Name one fight that he has fought that was close to the level of Leonard fighting a prime Durn or Hearns and even Benitez ?
You fight guys when you can take them? Why did he wait 5 yrs and for Manny to be knocked out for him to fight him ? The biggest con job in boxing is is Mayweather ..He sure as hell racked up names but waited for most of them to lose a step or,two ..Also Leonard Didnt pick certain styles to fight like Floyd so he could protect his record .. Ther is no way in hell Floyd deserves a top ten spot or even be mentioned in the same breath as Sugar Ray Leonard !

He lost 4 rounds to a one armed fighter, he cant be in a league of his own. People who fight him end up thinking hes not as good as they thought hed be.
GGG and Kovalev are in a league of their own at this moment.
GGG? the hell?? he hasnt even faced a world champion yet
I have Leonard right there with Floyd, arguably above him, but I think people need to look at Leonard with the same critical eye they look at Floyd as far as resumes go. You'll see that you can also say about SRL's resume that he also fought some guy past their prime, he also missed a couple fighters who would have been tough tests. You know why? Because every boxer in history has the same things, you can't fight everyone and you miss more of them in their primes than you hit, that's just the nature of the game. SRR, SRL, Duran, even Ali all have some guys they missed fighting in their primes and all weren't able to fight every single threat to them. That's just what happens, especially when you get to the elite level where you're only fighting twice a year.
All of this is why Mayweather's rank in the top 10 won't really be settled for another decade or two when all of the biases can be set aside. In 20 years people aren't going to remember that Mosely might have been past his prime, just like no one remembers that Hagler was past it vs Leonard. You fight the guys when you can, it takes a ton to make a big fight, always has taken a ton. That's why anyone who watched SRR fight can list some names he didn't get to fight that he should have or list some older fighters that he beat.
When it's all said and done, Mayweather will be universally top 5 IMO and he'll be in the discussion for TBE.

Benitez, Duran, Hearns & Hagler.
Nuff said
Looks like we have some UFC fans in here!!!
Boxing is an art and Mayweather is the Leonardo in the sport.
So many people have tried to solve his puzzle and can't.
Check Boxrec and you will see the competition he has faced.
Any true boxing fan and I mean a fan that actually knows about boxing will understand why Mayweather is in a class of his own...
He's the man from this era, but I'll always put him under Leonard

Exactly. It's based on accomplishments and the fact that he's proven himself for nearly 20 years as a pro.
The others still have some proving to do in their longevity. They are VERY skilled and from the looks of it, have skill to rival Mayweather. But it takes more than skill, more than fast hands, more than power, more than a chin, etc to stay at the top the way the HOF elite have.
They still have to prove that their skill is also matched by their will, dedication and longevity. There have been MANY "skilled" fighters. No one said Mayweather is the only one.
Rigo - biggest wins are vs Donaire and Agbeko
Loma - biggest win vs Russell Jr., loss to Salido
They are incredibly skilled and have notched some big wins so far. But not even a handful of big wins combined so far. That's ok. They simply have more to prove. You'll be remembered for your skill only for so long. If you can't make a great career out of it (loss of focus, lack of dedication, changing who you are, other things), it only means so much.

They think he's not as good as they thought he'd be and end up losing fights by 4-5 rounds to him.

If that's the case then why couldn't they beat him? It's sour grapes from guys like odlh who I've heard say this, along with others. As much as I detest him, he is in a league of his own. The way he wins isn't impressive like say kovalev, but, he's undefeated and has had what, five close fights?
None have proved it yet,so at this moment yes he's in a league of his own as of active fighters..
