Why fight Floyd? He'd probably make the same $$$$ against Rios, especially if it's in England. He'd be in a better position to fight Pac for real money if he impresses against Rios
Marcos Maidana ended up with basically $4m for each of the two fights with Floyd (can't remember where I saw the info, but I think Maidana picked up a significant share of the TV rights across Latin America.
Brook is coming to the table with the UK boxing market backing him (with his promoter, Matchroom Sport, being the exclusive boxing promoter for Sky Sports).
He's not going to get 60/40, and probably won't get 70/30; still, if Canelo Alvarez basically got the short end of an 85/15 split and still ended up making $12m.
If Matchroom is able to get the UK rights for the fight with Mayweather, they can get 90/10 on the rest of the revenues and still make more money with the Mayweather fight.
Brook-Rios, even at Brammall Lane in Sheffield, isn't all that big a fight (Rios is a no-hope opponent, with no name value in the UK), and a Pacquiao coming off of another definitive defeat isn't all that big of follow-up prize either, if we're honest about it.
Brook-Pacquiao (with Pacquiao coming off of his shoulder surgery) doesn't do anywhere near the buys that Mayweather-Brook would do
Brook isn't Hatton, but Hatton apparently got $6m-$8m, plus the UK rights, to fight Floyd Mayweather and ended up making significantly more than the guarantee once the UK money kicked in.
If Brook can get even $3m plus the UK TV rights, the UK rights for Mayweather-Brook could end up being worth 15-20 million British pounds.
Won't prove anything but it wouldn't be boring. I wouldn't be excited but I'd gladly watch it. It has some of the ingredients to cook up an entertaining fight.
Rios would have the most success against brooks since carson jones and hell I wouldent put it pass Rios to defeat Brook.
But to answer your question will I be excited? HELL YEAH!
No this would be batting practice for Kell Brook. Rios would be too slow just to get any of his punches in, from all the constant moving, angles, clinching and combination punching from Brook. This bout is a total mismatch. That's why his promoter Hearns is pushing for it. Brandon is not a substantial threat to Kell Brook in no way. Eddie is overly confident that his guy is the superior fighter will defeat him quite comfortably because of the skill differentiation between the two.
Brandon Rios size? Brook is a lot bigger and stronger than him.
Brook would back him up and beat him on the inside, mix it up and pump the ramrod-jab followed by a right hook on the outside. He would make Rios miss and counter with a straight right.
Brook has never been "sticking and moving" in his entire career.
Why are you not interested in seeing Brook challenged?
I like this fight. I don't expect it to be the mismatch that some are saying it is.
If Rios is allowed to work up close instead of the referee stepping in right away or being clinched a lot by Brook, it could become very interesting indeed. Also I want to know more about Brook's chin so a good Rios right hand will also let us know that.
Hell yeah, I would! Bam Bam is coming to fight. It's going to be a very entertaining fight. If the Bam Bam from the last Alvarado fight shows up, Brook is getting stopped within 8.
Yes, and given Brandon's style and size it's clear that Kel won't be sitting in the pocket with him to catch body shots. He adapts to his opponent and if you think he'd fight Brandon the way he fought last night, you're not paying attention.

Why is that clear? :lol1:
Have you ever watched Brook fight?

Brook will clinch all night again in a Rios fight, probably double the amount in the Porter fight, one of the most terrible fight in boxing history. Rios needs to employ rabbit punches if the ref does nothing about the hypejob's excessive clinching.
Fan friendly?? It's clear as day that Kel will stick and move his way to a decision. No war, no technical battle. For a great fight, you have to have guys that are going to be able to engage on some level, be it the slug fest, the chess match, etc. Not that they need to be identical, but they have to be able to engage. Here you will have the losing opponent chasing the other and failing. That's just frustrating to watch.
Why is that clear? :lol1:

Actually, that's absolutely correct. Guys that used to "run" are now just grabbing after a single punch attack.
Why Rios took this is beyond me. He's actually starting to show some small degree of discipline and could make good money battling it out with other cavemen. This does nothing for him and can't possibly be much of a paycheck either, compared to the options.
hes the kind of guy that will take any fight. he's like the bizarro amir khan.
