I like the versatility and accuracy of Ward's jab. He used a hard, stiff jab as he stepped forward against Rodriguez which constantly snapped his head back. He mostly threw it quick and sharp against Froch to disrupt him as he tried to come forward. He also throws the jab to the body, pretty well.
not every fighter has to use his jab to set up combinations, ray. roman gonzales used to fight as a mimimumweight. he's less than half wladimir's size. literally less than half his size.
wladimir has no business doing that. that's what got him knocked out, if you watched his early career. he has three stoppage losses in his prime, if you recall.
he wins with his jab without the combinations. he protects a bad chin, which gets exposed when you're looking to open up.
i understand that it is boring, but it doesn't keep him from winning, or keep his opponents from getting knocked out with frequency.
Anthony Joshua has a real good jab. Reminds me of a Larry Holmes or Muhamad Ali jab, very quick and shoots out like a flash.

My opinion is based on evaluating the technique, all of it. Not how well it's used!
Wlad "rows" his jab (drops it) as it returns. He fights weak technical fighters who also don't have the ballz to "take his jab away"!
Theres a reason Floyd shoots one at a time, he won't "punch with anyone anymore" he will not take the chance.
I like ajab that shows no elbow as it begins, elbows down. As it reaches out it pronates ast the end and it punches "through" the tasrget! Not every jab is a power jab but all of them today are BS!! Then it comes back high not rowed and it has the capability of the hook off it and maintaining a high guard or low depending on the opponents tendencies!
As I said Chocolatito uses the jab correctly and gets everything out of it!
It's the intro to combination punching.........atleast it used to be.
GGG could be better and it better get better or he will start to get right hands over the top at him. Having power is great and a great chin is beautifull but he shows tendencies to lump and get abrasions. You can loose
that way getting cut up while your winning.
Ray
ray, wladimir is 6.5 feet tall, has an 80+ inch reach, and is 245 lbs in supreme shape. if you're not cautious you're going to get nailed with a right hand. at the very least, you're going to let a truly massive dude put those huge hands on you and wear you down / bust you up. guys can't take the jab away because he is freaking massive.
i assure you that emanuel steward, the guy who taught wladimir his contemporary style, knew what he was doing.

Both fighting in the worse divisions.
Wilder has a better jab than Vlad....since you want to mention fighters from shi.t weight classes.
Adama out jabbed GGG...and he's slow as a Fedex truck.
:lol1:
:lol1:
When did they say he had the best jab ever?
I can name 5 fighters with better jabs: Holmes, Hearns, ODLH, Lewis, and Leonard.
Add Liston, Wright, Ali, Louis, Pep, B Leonard, Whitaker, Charles, Quartey, Loughran...
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
This guy should be a comedian.
GGG's shi.t level of comp cannot be ignored.
He's fighting scrubs in a dead division..and he's still getting busted up.
GGG's jab is OK...just like he is.
You sound mad. :fing26:
wladimir
golovkin
those are my top two. wladimir is half way across the ring. if you get too close, he holds. if you stay on the end of the jab, you'll eventually eat a right hand, or a hook off of the jab if you try and slip your way inside.
golovkin ghas a phone pole jab. it snaps heads back and puts people in retreat mode. great timing, very accurate, and good lord is that kid strong.
Chocolatito has the best jab because it sets up combination and thats what a jab is for in a pro fight.
The single jab you see from Wlad and Mayweather has become a "show" punch and it's use is more defensive these days. Against real quality both would get countered over the top or atleast up the middle. Their ordinary because their purpose is deminished.
GGG uses his appropriately put it's not a great jab. Khan does show a good jab when he's on the move laterially. He has good reach and he shows a good shoulder but when he's still he could get injto trouble.
The biggest problem with the jab punch these days is that most fighter land them at the very end of the punch. No one steps in to snap the head back, it's all about "tag your it" BS these days. Reminds me of amateur boxing.
Ray.
Golovkins jab not great?
He lands the highest of any active fighter at an average of 11 per round, above Wlad. Furthermore he doesn't waste jabs like Wlad or other fighters and has knocked fighters down with the jab alone. He's known for using power jabs constantly...
Anyway, statistically Golovkin has the best right now.
I think it was Al Bernstein and Paulie Malignaggi who both said that Amir Khan has the best jab in boxing today and maybe the best jab ever (B.J.E).
maybe the best jab ever (B.J.E).
maybe the best jab ever (B.J.E).
maybe the best jab ever (B.J.E).

I don't know what you're smoking right now, only thing I know that I want from it!

I think it was the Showtime broadcast of Khan vs Alexander. They said best jab in boxing today and "maybe" best jab ever but that's subjective really.
Yeah, all those fighters you listed had great jabs too. Lewis in particular could (and did) win some fights by almost singularly throwing the jab alone for the whole fight. ODLH jab was fast and sharp, consistent and relentless. Hearns, Holmes, Leonard all had great jabs too.

Ray.
According to compubox, Mayweather has the best jab in the sport. Even if he throws a weak keep away jab and it lands on the gloves it still counts as a landed punch.
If a punch lands on the gloves, it is not counted as a landed punch.
