According to some P4P lists Manny is still the second best fighter in the world. But to most lists he has dropped to number 6. Considering the fact that Mayweather is retiring soon, Marquez hasn't fought in over a year and is looking to retirement, and Andre Ward hasn't done anything significant in nearly two years does Manny stand a chance to one day rise back to top of the mythical pound for pound list? Can He become the best fighter in the world again?
yeah it really showed how great Manny was beating ODLH in the worst condition he ever stepped in the ring as a pro....he hadn't fought at 147 in 7-8 years...a lot of people would have beat DLH in that condition.
ODLh at 154 and 33> ODLH 145 and older
Hatton was undefeated when Mayweather beat him....when Manny fights him its after getting knocked and a rocky fight with Lazcano
Oh yea Cotto was unimpressive prior to Manny facing him as well....do you notice a pattern?
Mayweather fights people after career defining wins, and Manny fights them after losses, beatings, and unimpressive showings.....yes....Mosley, Cotto, Hatton, and DLH
That Floyd was scared crap evaporated after he beat Manny May 2nd, and also after Mayweather came back and beat everyone he said was on his wish list.
every single one of them.....Pacquaio was never p4p the best in the sport no matter how hard you wanted him to be
Once Manny got past 130 he fought a lot of guys at the right time...after they looked unimpressive... That gets ignored
He made his bones at the lower weights and @ 147 his competition has been underwhelming for someone to have been rated top 3 p4p even after getting koed in '12...IMO he is top ten but after that ko loss he wasn't top 5...Rios n algeiri fights were garbage... Bradley is Good but at we his ledger is thin
like a previous poster said, how can you do something a second time, you haven't even done it one time.....news flash, manny pacquaio was never the best fighter in the world, nor the best fighter of the decade in the 2000s, noe was he the best of the era like some of yall hoped for.
Haha yes sure. Just hype. But your boss Floyd pissing on himself after seeing Pacquiao destroy Cotto. And before that knocking out People Floyd struggled against - ODLH and Hatton.
Lol.

He knew he couldn't win after the first 10 seconds. Mayweather does that to everyone.
This is what I said before the fight,
"It's intriguing because every southpaw Mayweather faced was made to be more tentative, they eventually got the point and started fighting more uncharacteristic, it's hard to imagine Pacquiao doing the same if a decision lost looks inevitable"
Although I thought about it, deep down I didn't see it, to think it actually happened.
He knew he couldn't win after the first 10 seconds. Mayweather does that to everyone.
Pacquiao knows he won that fight. You making up stories for your boss.
Your boss is so great that only you guys here cheer for him. Whereas he gets booed wherever he goes.
The most Booed Ever.
If not for may weather being retired all of 08, PAC would have never even been considered to top the mythical rankings.
Floyd came back in 09 and schooled the same Marquez PAC couldn't beat clearly one time.... Also after a 22 month lay off.... Manny never was p4p number 1
IMO he never was number 1 p4p...ward had a good claim during Manny's run from 09-12...ward cleaned his division had wins over kessler, green, abraham, froch, etc...during those years Manny got a gift in his third fight with jmm, karma returned he lost to Bradley, and he got ktfo in '12.
All the hoopla came from winning titles in 8 classes....you can't ignore he fought in so Many weight classes and didn't defend his titles very much or fight many good fighters after career defining wins. He fought cotto, Mosley, dlh, and margarito all after looking unimpressive.
Manny is a great fighter who the media wanted to be the greatest thing since sliced bread all the while he was one of the best of his era, he never was the best

His options are limited, his will to win against Mayweather was lacking and he's past his prime too. Just not possible, don't know how anyone could vote yes.

He was never the best fighter in the world IMO anyway. that fighter of the decade accolade is an absolute joke and a popularity contest. Mayweather made it look easy except for one fight the entire decade and Manny Pacquaio got outboxed by a past prime erik Morales, never beat Marquez clearly one time but got a draw and a 1 point win. He struggled mightily with this guy.
P4P lists are about opinions and I never saw him beating Mayweather and Andre Ward if they were the same size. He has too much trouble with boxers, and counterpunchers for me to ever think he was the best fighter in the world, regardless of weight class.
When Mayweather was on his hiatus, that's the only reason people said he was the best p4p, when Floyd came back and started beating everyone they said he wouldn't fight, it killed any type of shot at him being p4p number one.
Since 2009 mayweather has defeated better opposition as well.
Sorry but imo he never was the best p4p

Hmm, interesting thoughts here. I agree with the overall sentiment in this thread... Manny's best days are behind him. I honestly think the Margarito fight took something out of him as well and the fourth Marquez fight definitely took the rest.

He won't. It was an incredible run, record books and all. No one can ever surpass. Everything post Margarito was icing on the cake. Floyd fight 6 years ago would have been the greatest win since the Featherweight days. But that doesn't matter, his legacy was set even without Floyd. Post Margarito he was on the downslide, he was far from the typhoon that swept the divisions. Floyd fought him at the right time for Floyd. Fought a one armed faded fighter and still looked bad being declared winner. No credit for that. Pac who fought superbly technical won't get the judges nod because that's not what he was remembered for. Judges only gave rounds to Pacman when he resembled his 2009-2010 form, not when he was being technical. P4P Pacquiao, Armstrong, and SRR is what it's about.
It really was an incredible run.. from the early days - to the "mexecutioner" days - to his rise to welterweight and dominance there. The Margarito fight was impressive in many ways (broke his fkn eye), but I think his last truly great performance was Cotto.
I believe his best days are behind him and he is clearly past it.. both physically (getting old/injured) and mentally (other interests/distractions).. The man has been through some BRUTAL wars and his risky style really does not age well..
What ever happens, that incredible run is set in the history books and will never be forgotten. He will always have my respect and gratitude for what he achieved and for re-igniting interest in the sport on a massive scale and bringing in so many new fans, even though many of them can be annoying as fk - it is good for the overall health of the sport.
f#ck no. tim bradley, his best win in years, has looked like garbage lately.
joel diaz is on record in an interview saying that tim was slurring his speech, getting dropped in sparring by ham and eggers going into the marquez fight.
those wins are his only significant wins in years. the first fight, technically loss, was a good win. prior to that manny looked old and won a controversial decision over marquez. after the first bradley fight, manny was knocked out by marquez. fought rios in a comeback. fought chris freaking algieri.
bradley wins were overrated, particularly bradley 2. ruslan may have ruined tim bradley.
manny was an overestimated p4p fighter prior to the mayweather fight. he'll never be an elite p4p fighter again.
Nah bro, Ariza has the magic. This is the pro level. Cotto needs Memo or Ariza asap if he wants to attain ATG status.
A little help goes a long way in this modern era.
Manny with Memo...
I like it :D

Why bring Ariza when you have Gavin?
