I mean all Floyd did was run constantly throughout the fight & didn't do much at all to hurt Manny. And Manny didn't throw enough punches & just had a lackluster performance. It almost feels like the fight is just "there" & neither fighter looked good coming out of it no matter who got the decision. Just a very weird fight to me.
what a joke fight. i was fooled into thinking this would be great but it was a complete dud and almost everyone everywhere are talking about how much of a joke boxing is now (which it is at this point). fight of the century?? more like joke of the century! i was seriously not going to watch it because of the frickin blood draining job against manny (over 13 times are you serious!?!?!?!!?!).
floyd ran like a fraud as usual even though i kept hearing about how he would walk down pac and get a KO and him being stronger??? hahahahaha what a joke. manny still looked fresh after the fight because floyd's 1-2 pitty pat pot shotting couldn't do anything to him.
and sad to say manny looks way past it or all that blood draining really got to him. he was so inactive and almost lethargic at times. it was bad. a prime pacquiao would never have been that inactive. but at least he made some effort here and there while floyd frickin ran around throwing and landing measly pot shots for 12 rounds.
in the end floyd didn't beat a PRIME pacquiao. that drama diva has yet to beat a certified future hof'er in their prime. on top of that he gets little love from his hometown and majority of people. floyd is a champ, but manny is the PEOPLE'S CHAMP! the boo's for floyd says it all.
Goddamn, wt is wrong with some people. Floyd was running? He was standing right there...he only move when Pacquiao was trying to attack...oh wait "he wasn't standing there so pac could hit him" as Pacquiao said. LMAO
I'd say Floyd is about as far removed from his prime as Pacquiao. He's simply a better boxer, always has been and still is.
It's hard to say who is more past prime, but I do feel that Pacquiao's style benefits more from youth. Still I think Pacquiao had more of a mental problem than a physical one. The lingering memories of the last counter puncher he faced.
Neither look good but Floyd did enough to show that he was the better man which is what everyone wanted to see
This.
Neither was as sharp as they have in the past and both were understandably tentative and cautious of each other.

Both looked like they would, past their best days...both looked terrible offensively. The right guy won but clearly this fight happened too late. At least we got to see it, just not the super fight we all expected just super hype.
Yes, thought the fight was very anticlimactic. Pretty sure the consensus amongst the casuals is that the fight was bad. Given the pricing for the PPV, the hype around it, the expectations, it was a very bad showing for boxing, as a whole.
Personally, I was very disappointed with the fight. Really bought into the hype myself, Mayweather saying he was gonna give the fans their money's worth, his fans saying he was gonna get the stoppage, experts saying he was gonna get the stoppage, saying it was gonna be a beatdown.
I really thought both would step up for the fight and understand that they were carrying the sport's future, with this fight. Instead, it was very anticlimactic. Like Mike said, "We waited 6 years for this?!"
Gonna re-watch the fight and see if I can enjoy it for what it was, and not knock it for what it was supposed to be.
Mayweather did what Mayweather does, aka the bare minimum. I think the sad fact is, that Pacquiao didn't push him to fight any harder. Pacquiao was tentative to the point of just handing the fight to Floyd. The reason for Manny's inactivity is likely from two sources. Floyd's hard counter shots, and lingering memories of the Marquez KO. Pre KTFO6 Pacquiao would have almost certainly pushed the fight more. He might have been knocked out in the process, but it surely would have been a much better fight.
Mayweather looked like Mayweather. He's clearly ageing but for those who paid for a Mayweather fight, you got Mayweather. Pacquiao was just made to look bad, had his punch output cut in half. If that was any other fighter in there with Pacquiao, his punch output would be double.
So it's not that either looked bad. Floyd just looked like himself and that's good enough to make Manny look bad. I don't see why anybody is surprised.
neither done anything. floyd hardly landed any lead right hands or check hooks like he usually does and manny hardly threw. both collected their paychecks and got off. this is why i said before the fight even happened that i was looking forward more to cotto/canelo, at least that would have been a fight
I don't understand how people didn't see it going in. Of course they were playing people. They spent 5 years playing the boxing world. I'm glad this sh*t is done so we can move the hell on. The sooner they're gone, the sooner boxing can move on.
It's funny because when the fight first got made, I said it would be a very dull fight. But I got caught into the hype of "well maybe they both slowed down just enough for it to be a fire fight/back and forth action type of fight" bull****.
People were hoping for Ali/Frazier 3 and got Leonard/duran 3 instead. It's a myth that you will get better action as guys get older. Look how bad Roy/hop 2 was. These guys don't want to take a beating.
One guy admits he doesn't love the sport. The other one is taking selfies during his ring walk. Both made over 100 million. We got played lol.

Mayweather looked great defensively, not so much when he let his hands go. He was still good enough to hit the counters he needed to. Pacquiao looked pretty bad, which is a combination of his decline and Mayweather's continued defensive brilliance.
Both looked old, and the fight wasn't very good.
I completely agree. Mayweather won but it was closer than that 118-110 piece of garbage scorecard. It did feel weird. Both were gun shy.
Both were extremely tentative. Weird fight indeed. Only fuels me into thinking that the fight 5 years ago would've a been much better fight.

I loved how mayweather banged his gloves together as if he wanted to fight...then when manny came in, may took off hahaha. Crazy man...and most times when manny would come in, he wouldn't throw. This was a real head scratcher. Fortunately, next week we have a bombs away type fight
Floyd made Pacquiao look bad. Floyd isn't the Floyd of old, but he's still an extremely smart fighter and did exactly what he needed to do to comfortably beat a Pacquiao that had absolutely no answers for Mayweather's defense.
