Manny is shorter. Punching downward is a pain in the ass, you just expose your chin more and miss more. Ask 99.9% of prime Mike Tyson's opponents. Anyone who has boxed Knows this. Floyd wont be able to go to the body with jabs. Floyd's getting tagged and he will lose. Manny is no Ricky Hatton....Just my opinion.
Floyd didn't seem to have any problems against the shorter Hatton...
Not the only example, he was taller than plenty of fighters from 130-140. Even Miguel Cotto at 154 who is elite and another great example.
The TS is an absolute dong, as soon as you don't agree with him he uses the 'you have never been in a ring before', even though no one truly knows anyone else's experience on here. He pm'd after a debate, threatening me and telling me to come to his "gym", who the hell calls someone out online after a debate? Complete moron if you ask me.
For the record I have never had a fight, but sparred hundreds of rounds and did it for enjoyment and fitness, and have enough experience to have a valid opinion.
In terms of the subject, it's obviously not as simple as that. For me it depends on what kind of fighter you are, for example, sometimes a fighter is tall for his age right from an early age, thus will learn to fight tall and generate power and success that way. In my personal opinion guys with longer levers are more vulnerable to getting hit, if you look at famous pros - maybe Tommy Hearns and Amir Khan are good examples of this. So in that sense I see what the thread starter means, but generally in the gym I hear guys complain when they are shorter fighters who are use to fighting taller guys, and then come up against a shorter fighter, or vice versa. No one likes to come up against something they are not use to. Now having said all that, I agree with most others here, it is not going to make much of a difference in this fight, the height will not be a factor, the reach advantage for Floyd might though.
Manny isn't small enough and doesn't move his head well enough for this to matter. Manny moves his feet well not his head.
Also Floyd was a super featherweight for like 7 years, I'm 100% sure he fought dudes smaller than Manny.
70 fights here. I'm tall for my weight class and find I get my best power when I'm fighting someone of equal height, not someone smaller. The trouble with fighting someone too short is you leave yourself open for counters a lot more so you don't want to over commit. It's not as simple as 'ooh gravity helps'. There are perfectly good explanations for this. As long as someone isn't way taller, it doesn't matter though. In this fight, the height differential isn't big at all.
Great post....
They are damn near the same height man
have you?? because punching up is when you lose steam on your punches

Floyd is one of the best boxers out there. He has the arm length and height to keep Pac at the end of his punches. Any taller, smart fighter knows how to do that. Although i hope Pac knocks him out, i see a UD win for Mayweather on may 2nd.
You have never been in a boxing ring
I question if you ever have. It's not even up for debate. If you are punching up at a taller fighter you are also fighting gravity AND you have to hold your hands up more while trying to get inside making you even more tired. He has to stay small so burning a lot of energy by squatting down, weave in and out and be defensively responsible by remembering to hold his hands up.
All the taller guy has to do is put his weight on his back foot and lean back a little bit and now the shorter guy has to reach across the danger zone of where he can't hit the other guy, but the other guy can hit him back.
All of that BEFORE even actually getting close enough to launch an attack.
floyd calls pacquaio a midget lmfao when hes in the same damn range lmfao.
calling others midget, fighting at catch weights, fighting left overs. nothing new here from floyd.
I guess I forgot why I stopped posting on BS. Talking to absolute idiots who know nothing about boxing. 6 foot, 10 foot.. who cares. Its proportional. That that needs explaining means you guys are what you are.

Ok Manny is 5' 6" Floyd is maybe 5' 8", that is 2 inches
5'6" in inches is 66 and 5'8" is 68, so you are talking about a 1/33 or 1/34 that is not much proportional difference.

It's actually better to punch down than up because gravity is working for you. Punching up you are losing power.
The Mike Tyson comparison doesn't work because Mike was very short to be fighting at the top level of his weight class. The size disparity in this fight isn't that bad so it won't even factor really.
:lol1:
Yo, people are saying the craziest stuff right now. Y'all nervous?
I heard Pacquiao was a better inside fighter, this fight can't come any sooner
