Kirkland takes a while to warm up. Canelo has fast hands and they know that it will be wise to connect early since Kirkland can be hit.
After 4 rounds Canelo will be in trouble because James is going to make him fight. This fight favors Canelo's slow legs
I like this fight a lot, the only thing I don't like is kirkland not trining with wolfe, canelo is the boxer in this one which plays out very good for him the cash been, the american can really hurt him if he can catch him, good matchup all around and may the best man win, for real, no bs...
Ishida knocked down Kirkland three times in one round. Alvarez will aim for an early KO aswell. I agree with a previous post, Canelo will receive too much credit for beating Kirkland. This fight is a mismatch. I want to see GGG vs Canelo or Cotto vs Canelo.
This is a stupid discussion about 155 vs 160. Obviously 155 is within MW limit. But if there is a contract, stipulating that fighters should not exceed 155, then it is no longer MW fight. It is a catchweight.
Should be exciting for however long it last. Canelo likes to put all he can into his punches and I think if he can land his counters he has the power to put Kirkland away.
Or if Kirkland KOs Canelo I'd be happy with that too.
145 is WW. Remember the Pac catch weight with Cotto and how your fellow stans cried hardcore?
I don't get mad about that CW, Cotto agreed to it just like ever other CW. If the title is on the line it should be at the limit, but it's the way a lot of fights are mad so in the end if that's what it took to make Pac/Cotto so be it, I wanted the fight to happen.
Kirkland looks like a killer??? :nonono: only if he had a gun in his hand. First big shot Canelo lands he'll fold. There no Ann Wolfe to bully him into fighting now is there
159 is MW... once I read that you think it isn't, I stopped reading.

I don't hate Cotto. He's never fought at MW. He fought a a catch weight. His next fight MIGHT be at MW. Maybe. It's yet to he seen. I actually am a Cotto fan. I said some **** about him when I didn't like his antics during the Canelo negotiations, but it was stupid of me to say what I said. But, then again, I've said alot of stupid **** on this forum so it is what it is.
I have no problem with Cotto and his catch weigjt(s), I just don't want to see him fight K9, or Helen. He's the lineal MW champion FFS...
Where's my hipocracy??

MY boy JK look like he ready to fight today....I hope he comes in the best condition possible....with his style, strength and power, he has a great chance to win
This is a really good fight that could honestly go either way. Personally, I think Canelo has all the tools to handle someone like Kirkland but to cross James out of the equation would be ignoring the fact that he is a good fighter himself.
People seem to be banking alot on Kirkland's Ishida fight but I don't, I honestly believe Kirkland poses a real threat to anyone at 154 lbs(155). Sure Ishida stopped him in 1 round after knocking him down a few times but we all know Kirkland is extremely vulnerable early on and takes a few rounds to really get his engine going. However, once he does get into motion, that dude is a locomotive. I'm really looking forward to James surviving the initial Canelo onslaught and watching him test Canelo like no one has done so before. He has the power and resilience to not only push Saul to his limits, but to walk away victorious as well.
He has won 5 fights since dropping to Ishida including the "meh" DQ win over Molina, a solid win against Tapia and an impressive shoot out with a game Angulo.
If anything the only thing that seems a bit off about Kirkland would be his inactivity. Hopefully it won't be a massive factor but Canelo himself has been out for 10 months. Although it's not nearly as long as James, they are both going to need to shake off the ring rust come fight night.
I really see this as a lose/lose situation for Canelo in the eyes of most boxing fans. If he wins, people will shake their heads and claim he's an overhyped bum who beat a no hoper glass chinned bum in Kirkland. If he loses, folks will rejoice and clown Canelo for the rest of his career in the sport. He'll get no credit whatsoever regardless of the outcome of the fight, at least, in most peoples eyes.
Personally I think it's going to be an explosive fight with a strong undercard(if Gomez vs Soto is still a go). To top it off it comes one week after the mega fight showdown and right before GGG and Roman headline another HBO card themselves. What really sweetens the deal for me is the fact that this fight isn't PPV :lol1: Good stuff.
After the Ishida fight people began to question his chin. But I remember his fight with Joel Julio. He took some heavy shots in that fight and never flinched.
Makes me believe that fighting Ishida he was simply not at his best and not motivated.
Against Canelo on the big stage Kirkland will be motivated. It's a tough fight and I sense potential FOY here.
