Styles make fights, but Gomez and Guerrero's styles are very similar, only that Guerrero is more durable with a tougher chin. So how was Gomez able to beat Kameiga easier? And who wins now between Guerrero and Gomez?
Guerrero broke Kamegai. He left something in the ring that night, Gomez was the benefactor of the beating he took. I'd like to see Gomez vs. Guerrero and I'd pick Guerrero to win.
It was the exact same Kamegai that Guerrero fought. The difference was that Gomez actually fought him intelligently as opposed to Guerrero, who boxed Kamegai well for one round and then elected of his own accord to brawl the rest of the way with him.
And The Ghost deserves all the credit in the world for his heart and grit, but it's very clear that he is a top 20 level Welterweight at best, not an elite one. All of his wins at Welterweight were life and death affairs against limited fighters that have now all lost far more clearly to a less regarded fighter since they fought Guerrero. He just gets the hype due to the Floyd fight, which really shouldn't have happened anyway.
As to Gomez, he doesn't possess top level athletic ability, but the skills, ring IQ, and intangibles have always been there. I'd like to see him get a fight against Guerrero or a solid name next.
Guerrero is one of the most overrated fighters around today. He's not a top 10 WW and when they actually ranked him P4P in the Ring is when I quit taking their P4P rankings seriously. He's an average action fighter with long arms and no idea how to use the gifts he has. His father is clearly not the trainer for him IMO.

They didn't fight in a similar way at all, Gomez tried to move around whereas Guerrero stood and traded in the pocket all fight.
He sure did. He moved around and didn't let the limited Kamagei get in his (what do they call it when a guy is fighting in a "phone booth."?)
They call it fighting in a phone booth
Because kamagei just plodded forward, no jab, not tight enough guard, had no gameplan , he would throw combos but then hands would come back to his waist then he would get tagged and then Gomez would spin off and kamagei would have to reset
Gomez used forearm and headbutts
Also, this fight was at 154 and that could be why he looked awful
Guerrero just went toe to toe with kamagei and played into his hands
In short, Gomez and Guerrero fought differently and kamagei was worse vs Gomez
I've said it probably like 20 times on here but Guerrero is not a good fighter at this weight class. You can't find one fight at WW that Guerrero has looked dominant in. He struggled against Aydin, Berto and Kamegai, and just got washed in the losses against Mayweather and Thurman.
The problem, I think, is that his legs are gone. He can't use his legs anymore and because of that he's resorted to fighting way more in the pocket than he did at the lower weights. His head movement is bad, he's slow, he's just not good at this weight.
I think his fight night weight indicates he is better suited at 140lbs. He was 152 vs Thurman, which is 5lb rehydration compared to the 10-12lbs other WW's rehydrate. Not every fighter can pull off what Mayweather and Pacquiao do which is fight at around 147-150 and beat up bigger guys. Guerrero needs to go back down to the weight class that he skipped. He is too small for 147 and his skills don't outweigh the 8-12lbs disadvantage he will be in at WW.

I'ma write the answer in white so you're gonna have to highlight my words to read my answer--> Because Gomez got on roids for the 1st time. That's why. Everybody is on roids now. Duh!
P.S. Y'all gonna have to highlight all my responses to see if I have a secret message included from now on.
Gomez had the luxury of watching the tape. His smothering was really well executed, worked the jab, landed his shots and cut off the exchange so Kamegai couldnt get started. Dude just had the right plan coming in. Guerrero got pulled into a brawl too many times, maybe underestimated him.
Always liked Gomez, and I'd love to see him fight Guerrero or Berto next.
