What do you think about premier boxing champions so far? Do you think Haymon's league is making or losing money? If that's the case how long do u think it'll carry on?
Haymon is looking at 10s of millions of dollars in losses in the first few years. Now compare that to another marginal sport in the US, hockey, where the NHL last year signed a 12 year deal in Canada with Rogers television - a CABLE network!, for $5.2 BILLION dollars and they signed a 10 year contract with NBC in the US in 2011 for 10 years at $2 BILLION and you will see where boxing stands in the overall big sports picture. And the NHL deal in Canada is small potatoes when compared to the insane deals that the NFL and MLB have in the US.
Boxing? Haymon is paying the networks to put it on television. Even curling has a better deal than that in Canada.
Your just a bitter lame who really dont know what your typing just jib-jab.
Why don't you mention that after the nhl lockout. Hockey had horrible ratings in the states and had to grovel to get a ,deal worth pittance on a crap American channel( Versus I think , a channel owned by the Phily Flyers owner) for a couple years because their ratings were competing with FNF in terms of audience and no channels would even touch them in the states because they battling irrelevance outside of hockey markets .
Having a huge deal in Canada for hockey is a given and like selling water in a desert considering it's the number 1 sport easily. Plus Rodgers over paid in part to cripple TSN and basically eliminate them as a hockey provider.
Curling gets huge ratings in Canada some events for whatever reason probably pull top 5 ratings for the year in sporting events and dwarf Football/Baseball/B-ball and most hockey rating similar to dart tournaments in the UK.
The whole point of this venture is to take it from a niche sport where the common sports fan knows maybe 1-2 names in the sport and make it more legitimate. But keep being a bitter Mis-informed agenda driven lame hope it works out for you
Is it coincidence or pure strategic move that Haymon's PBC ventures come to fruition when Floyd signed to fight Pac? I am of the mindset that Haymon does have a hand in stalling the fight until now. I don't think Top Rank is solely to be blamed.
Top Rank was never solely to blame, Mayweather deserved a ton if not a majority but I dont see the link between PBC and Haymon wanting to stall at all.
If anything Haymon started putting the wheels in motion for the PBC back in early 2013 when he started signing quite a few fighters. Pacquiao was coming off his KO loss and the Mayweather looked like it was dead at that time
Don't really care and I'm not sure why others care so much if they're not personally invest into PBC
They have MULTIPLE YEARS to make money on MULTIPLE NETWORKS! They not asking the fans to pay for anything just to tune in:dunno:

Hymen doesn't care, it's mostly his investors' money. If PBC loses out, Hymen skirts out and starts promoting MMA fighters. He'll lose some cash but his isn't solely footing the bill. He needs to set up tournaments and have the boxers doing community service and promote it that way. He needs to make boxing stand out as a sport.
This statement immediately conjures up this image...

Haymon is already aware that he will initially lose money on this venture. The plan is to make it all back, plus some in the long run.
Haymon's spending his investor's money, and he's getting whatever his "advisor" percentage is from his fighter's purses...I'm sure he'll be alright.
It'll make money. He have CBS, NBC, ABC/ESPN and Spike for the next 2 years. People will be interested in the new faces. To top it off they are traveling to the fans.
they have plenty of capital built up between the fees Haymon collected over the last few years on his fighter's purses and investors. they'll likely run at a deficit for the near future as they not only have to pay the fighters large purses but also tv time. they'll recoup some of that through advertising, ticket sales, sponsorship, etc.
They want to build up ratings, sign more fighters, build their brand, etc. and secure a big tv deal.

They will lose he's over paying bums like Broner to fight stiffs
They've put on a grand total of 2 shows out of 32 scheduled slots and both of those shows have put up very desirable numbers for their time slot. Is their format sustainable? Probably not. Are they building brand equity as we speak? Undeniably. Haymon is betting on himself and he has a deep enough roster to pull this off.
You are right. And it's definitely early. However, we'll have a better idea of how this will turn out 6-12 months from now. We'll be able to see ratings over time, make forecasts, and evaluate how well PBC is being managed and marketed.
But yea, the networks are in it with a 2 year plan. Yes, we should all keep that in mind.
The networks make their money whether the ratings are .1 million or 100 million. It's like renting a taxi from the owner for $300 a night... he doesn't care if you make $50 bucks or $5000 driving the cab, he's made his money and he's happy. If you lose your shirt and spend more on gas than you take in as profit, you end up bringing the cab back and he rents it to someone else or drives it himself.

This is a mute point.... It's entire plan was losing money early... It's all bankrolled by private equity,,, the hope is that in 2 years, ratings will be good and PBC will land a deal similar to the ufc on fox deal, and PBC will get paid 100+ mil for TV rights, instead of buying the airtime now...
They knew going into this, that we are going to spend 100 million or so over 2 years, on a bunch of channels, get solid ratings, and hopefully have espn, spike, etc start a bidding war for TV rights much like ufc, nfl, NBA, etc....
If you understand how major corporate business works, you would know this..
It's just like when early private equity groups piled money into Facebook to keep them growing..
If he can land a lucrative TV deal in 2 years, then it's mission accomplished, but until that time, the jury is still out...
It was no secret or even part of the plan to be profitable early...
Al Haymon must truly believe he can make the fights people wanna see, and more importantly grab back some popularity that has been missing since PPv started..
If Al can deliver ratings, he will get the deal, as sports is coveted by networks as unlike a TV show, people won't dvr and usually watch live, hence sitting thru the commercials and not bypassing them, meaning networks can get big bucks for sports
Moot point ... The word is Moot
Actually the opposite is true. A real boxing fan wants it to make money so they can continue the project.
Thanks. You stated what I was trying to say BETTER.

No real boxing fan actually gives a damn whether the program makes money. All we care about is the fact that we are able to watch more quality fights on television. The only ones who care about that are the Floyd Mayweather haters (and by proxy, Al Haymon) who want something to criticize and attack Mayweather (and by proxy, Al Haymon).
Anyone who says they don't like the programming offered by PBC and would prefer things go back to the way they were when we saw five or six quality fighters per year on HBO and Showtime is either lying or doesn't know s...t about boxing.
