Golovkin vs Cotto is a HUGE mismatch

Cotto at his best is a pressure fighter. Anytime he tries to play boxer-puncher, he gets his ass kicked. It doesnt take a genius to figure out if he tries to be a pressure fighter against Golovkin, he gets his head knocked off.

Very true about a mismatch! I was never intrigue by the idea of golovkin vs cotto. I'm a huge fan of both and doesn't want to c cotto hurt towards the end of his career. Just think of cotto vs margorito I double the damage for cotto and shorten the length of the fight. Cotto just vacate the belt and go back to 154, we all give him a pass on this one.

Cotto fighting Canelo was the best hope of the division getting back on track. As things stand Mikey Garcia could be the lineal middleweight champ by christmas. :lol1: This is kinda where I'm at with this subject cause I think that had Alvarez won, he would have faced GGG and if Cotto had won he may have as well. But now, as a Cotto fan, I wish he'd defend against a legit mw or vacate back to 154.

That is why I have not too much interest in this fight. I feel like triple G is just going to run Cotto over. Too big, hits too hard and has skills.

He's not a big middleweight by any stretch, he has a frame that could easily compete at junior middle weight. You says that walking into camp at 180 is a big middleweight but Cotto, who would walk into camp at near 175+ when fighting at Junior Welter weight so you'd assume he's close to that at middleweight, but nobody would ever confuse Cotto as a big middleweight. Reality is GGG is a normal sized middleweight that could realistically fight at 154

Cotto is one of my all time favourite fighters dead or alive, but Golovkin murders him within 4-5 rounds! I'd like to see him drop that belt and move back down a weight and see GGG vs Lee/Quillin winner fight for the Ring title

Golovkin is a more natural 160. He's on the short side -- and I believe he walks around fairly close to 160. Maybe 165 or so. I don't think he gains much weight between fights. He fights more often than most guys. Lets correct Cotto's farce of a championship with a Cotto-Golovkin farce of a fight. Two wrongs make a right I've been told. What's the solution if Cotto doesn't vacate?

Cotto is a natural WW. I don't know why he even needs to fight GGG. How about GGG move up to 175 and fight Kovalev? Cotto has every right to fight fighters his size and avoid Golovkin. He hasn't fought at 147 in 5 years. He's a LMW who took a calculated risk and it paid off. Now the consequence of winning is he has to defend the belt, or he can just drop the belt and move back down. Defending the belt against a non-MW would be a damn shame.

A mismatch that I would like to see happen.

Cotto should step down from his title. I would respect him for that. He is a good fighter but more of a welterweight than a middleweight. I would also respect him if he fought GGG even though it is a mismatch and he would not last long. What I can't respect is first him taking over a year off and thereby keeping the lineal world middleweight title hostage. Secondly when he does end his vacation and defend his "middleweight title" he apparently will be defending it against a welterweight like Bradley or Rios.

Everybody know that belt is for bargaining chip for the big names (Floyd conelo) everyone know GGG is the 160 man ...him beating a 154 does nothing for his career he needs the peter quillins and he pretty much proves he the best @160 he should be up by 168 in a year

I dont care about the belts. I care about the fights/matchups. Does a single damn in the world care about which belts are on the line when Pacquiao and Mayweather fight? Does anyone care that there are no belts on the line for Provodnikov v Matthysse? I dont care if Garcia/Peterson are fighting 143 and no belts. Its still a good fight and if they cant make 140 healthy Id rather see them at 143 and be at their physical best than fight at 140 so it can be a title fight. GGG is the same fighter with or without unifying the division with an EASY fight. What does it matter if Cotto keeps the belt? No one considers him the MW champ. Cotto is the LINEAL MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION. If he wants to play middleweight,he needs to man the f*ck up and face golovkin. If he doesn't want to,because he's too small,then he should just drop the belt,and go back to 154,instead of treating the damn belt as a bargaining chip against welterweights. Pacquiao wasn't a true Jr middleweight, so when he beat margarito he let go of the belt right away. Cotto should do the same,if not,he deserves to get pounded by GGG,for keeping the belt hostage,and refusing to fight the legitimate champion at that weight class.

It is a mismatch. However, if Cotto defends it against a non-MW, it's an even worse situation.

It won't be the first fight where the contender is the overwhelming favorite.
