So, we aren't to far away from PBC hitting NBC, CBS, and Spike, thanks to the PBC and the Haymon group. For the first time in a long time Boxing will be a big prime time affair on network TV and I can't express just how important to the sport this really is. If every major sport can be seen for free on network TV, including the UFC, than boxing should absolutely be there with them. It's the closest thing to an actual "boxing league" we've ever seen in this sport and it's great to see someone try to bring it all together for a worldwide audience without fans having to buy overpriced PPV's or subscribing to SHO or HBO.
I have a lot of questions that I hope PBC answers in time and I really hope the ratings and sponsors are there to keep this product alive and moving. Time shall tell. It's just so very exciting to see award winning composers, legendary boxers, and awesome play by play announcers getting involved, anyone who see's this as a negative really must not want to see this sport grow, which it needs to as it's become somewhat forgotten in the eyes of the average sports fan. Can't wait!
I'm not getting definsive. I just figured since you went on that soliloquy you would have some kind of alternative to what Haymon was doing. Although many of the matches aren't what you would consider career/legacy defining match ups they should be entertaining and play well on prime time TV. Which I think is the goal at least in the short term. You need guys that are going to come to fight.
I agree, they will all be entertaining and I will support them because I am a fan of the sport but like you said(as I did as well)they aren't exactly spectacular.
Anyway, I suppose your initial post took me by surprise since I never mentioned the business aspect of anything Haymon is doing. I simply gave my point of view on the fights he has lined up for us.
I really hope he gives us Mares vs Leo Santa Cruz in the near future... and there's plenty of other great possible match ups as well. So far this year is shaping up to be something special, I really hope it continues.
:lol1: I critiqued the matches at hand and this is what you can come up with? I have no clue and that's not my business.
I am a fan of the sport and I am aware of his massive stable with quality champions and contenders, all he is doing is giving us "meh" fights though. Where in my post did I claim I know or have any plans that surpass Haymon's for the sport? Nowhere, all I did was breakdown each fight from my point of view and now I'm pointing out the fact that he could give us much better fights.
No reason to get defensive :)
:lol1: Haymon is fine I'm just not completely blown away by his decent cards. That's it. What he is doing for the sport is great and beyond what anyone expected but I'm not going to slob on his nuts for that reason alone. Truh of the matter is he has so much talent in his massive stable these aren't even half the quality he could give us. Oh well, hopefully the cards will improve later on down the road, fingers crossed.
Don't worry, I'm not attacking Haymon, just his shiny turds :)

OK smart guy. What's your business plan for the PBC since it's obvious Haymon don't know what he's doing?

Scrap it altogether, Haymon leave boxing and return to music entertainment business where he belongs and let aztekkas handles the boxing business from now on

Damn, all the fights sound decent but when you take a closer look at them you'll realize they're a bunch of gold covered turds. Let's run through them really quick...
Adrien Broner vs John Molina - Molina is coming off of two back to back losses against Humberto Soto and Luas Matthysse. Not only that but this fight would have been alo't better back when Molina was coming off the Lucas fight, in which he had garnered some hype over his showing. He lost all of that steam after succumbing to Soto and is just now getting his shot at Broner, why?
Then you have Broner, he is coming off of two soft touches(after getting beat full retarded, since he was at half prior to Chino) and has not looked good in some time. You take those facts into account and this fight means absolutely nothing in any respect to the sport or division itself.
Robert Guerrero vs Keith Thurman - You have Robert Guerrero coming off a war against a formerly unknown Kamegai and a loss to Mayweather... add the fact that Guerrero only had these two fights in the last two years and I'm starting to think the fight isn't so even anymore. Plus, Keith is also coming off a lukewarm showing in his last fight.
Although this is a decently intriguing fight, I really don't think their is much going on here aside from Haymon trying to feed the Hype beast by having his developing champion feast on a fighters with the "former Mayweather opponent" badge on his record.
Danny Garcia vs Peterson - No comment, seriously... the fight went from "Great, sounds good" to "lol" in a split second once we found out it was at a catchweight with no titles on the line. Lamont lives to be a champ another day.
Abner Mares vs some ex olympic dude - really? Digusted, and I'm a Mares fanboy.
Jhonny Gonzalez vs Gary Russel Jr. - I like this fight myself but aside from the one-sided loss to Vasyl, what has Russel done to land another shot? Hmm that's right, he's with Haymon. Seriously, he lost his shot, faced an overmatched opponent in his comeback and managed to secure another shot against the WBC world champ, what?
Then you have Jhonny, another personal favorite of mine who hasn't had a significant win in almost 2 years. Well, he did beat an over the hill, fat little bastard in Arce, whom he carried for far too many rounds but yeah.. that's pretty much it. Meh, just glad to see T-Rex arms get another whooping, aside from that it's another "ok" fight.
I know I'm missing a few but that's what I could recall off the top of my head. Aside from a 6 year late fight between two of this era's greats, Haymon hasn't(helped) put much of anything together recently. At least not since Matthysse vs Garcia and that's been almost two years as well. Hope things turn out better but for now it seems like these golden turds are keeping Haymon's groupies on his knob for a few more months.
Thanks for the free boxing but we need more quality stuff. Yup, you guessed it... I'm a begger and a chooser.

So far, looks like PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS has four entities that will co-exist with each other.
Under NBC Universal
NBC, NBC Sports Network and (Telemundo - no official announcement yet)
Under CBS Corporation
Showtime, Showtime Extreme, CBS and CBS Sports Network
Under Viacom
S.p.i.k.e. TV and (BET - no official announcement yet)
Under The Walt Disney Company
ESPN2, ESPN (no official announcements yet. ABC also under Disney)
Univision
Does anyone think PBC will create their own championships and promore them as being the true champions in boxing seeing as how the exposure will be so large? Also, Corner to Corner sounds like it'll be a great broadcast and a wonderful way to make the boxers connect to the fans through these televised specials.
I like where Premier Boxing Champions is going. Major networks carrying this show in primetime is great for boxing, this could give the sport the boost in the arm it needs to get back to where it once was, anyone crapping on it really can't call themselves a true fan since a true fan would want to see the sport thrive and grow. I'm no Haymon praise singer, but this is the closest thing to an NFL or MLB boxing has ever had and if ratings hold up and companies pay to advertise then I see boxing flourishing for many years to come.
Long live the sweet science!
So, with all of these cards coming to national television would it be safe to say that should the PBC be a success that boxing is back and in a big way? A lot of that will probably depend upon how the sports media adopts it, if they do....
I'm hoping ESPN, as well as other sports outlets, cover PBC results on their programs with highlights and such, it would be good to see boxing constantly discussed on television by sports analysts who aren't married to the sport. Mainstream is the key here.
Saving face over what? Belts mean ****. You think I rated jermain Taylor because he was the ibf champ? You rated him higher than a guy like quillen or ndam because of a belt? Belts in boxing, nowadays, is window dressing, true fans know who the best are and don't need a belt to help them understand who is good.
When did rate taylor higher? Get outta here with that bullsh^t. No sh^t "true" fans know who the champs are titiri, but to say belts are meaningless is just plain stupid. Again, if you are talking about the minor titles such as a "regular", "super", "diamond" or "silver" belts than I would understand.

That really is the truth. Boxers with belts have to be judged individually because a belt is not going to always define who the best fighter is.
dont try and save face now... only the sanctioned belts mean something. WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA. WBC and WBA are the oldest belts so yes belts still do mean something.... now the alphabet titles such as wba (regular) or (super)... if you are talking about them then yes.

Lol dude you're acting like I'm some fan boy. I agree, they should have fought last year, they didn't and won't fight at 140. So yes, while its bullsit, I'm just happy to get a competitive fight.
And belts are meaningless, the amount of them diminishes their value. Put that in your sig.

I'll give you that one can never really predict how a fight will turn out. But I think we've seen enough from Garcia and Peterson in their respective fights, to know that they are no Ward or Gatti. Not saying that it won't be a decent fight, though.
I know dude. Just an example of something unexpected and far greater than the fighters in the fight.
No one knew you'd get that dude. No one knew you'd get Castillo/Corrales. The point is don't write off a fight before it happens because in boxing, literally anything can happen.

They should have fought LAST YEAR!!!! but its ok that they are both champs at 140 fighting at a bogus catchweight... you know since they're fighting instead of not fighting at all :trink26:

aint no internet tough guy nothing bruh... just stating what it is. you referenced it saying that it was a non title fight but it was a great fight. Yes you are correct there... if they had titles would the titles have been on the line?
who knows? Maybe.
That was a straight duck, different circumstances, bowe threw it away rather than fight lennox. No one really gives a sh1t about Lamont's belt, it's meaningless. Sure it's lame but not the worst. I rather they fight at at this weight rather thn not at all. I highly doubt they would have made this fight at 140.

Not the internet tough guy routine again.
I didn't compare the fights I referenced Gatti v ward-do you know the difference. How could I compare a fight that happened with one that didn't?
With or without the titles on the line, we wont know how good the fight was until its over. Them holding the belts and not unifying will not determine if this is a great fight.
