That guy Bruce Buffer on UFC is probably the worst. He's trying way too hard and it results in a growling voice. It's supposed to be effortless. He doesn't belong.
I think best right now is Lupe Contrerashttp://a.espncdn.com/photo/2014/0923/box_lupe43_cr_576x324.jpg
I love the way he says the fighters "kos" in spanish... "by way of chloroform" lol
"Lets get ready to rumble" gets me more pumped than "It's Showtime".
Agreed.. It's hard to explain, but "Let's get ready to rumble" builds the anticipation to a high level and then the excitement maintains at that level until the fight starts. It seems that after "It's Showtime!" is announched, the excitement level immediately drops..
More than that, I like when buffer does the introductions for Mexican, Russian, or any foreign fighter.
This Pac Intro was awesome

Love the Intro for Marquez here.

If a boxer gets to chose, who do you think he wants his name to be announced...
Imagine how Darren Barker felt then when Buffer introduced him in the Geale fight :lol1:
Michael Buffer is akin to baseball; Jimmy Lennon Jr is akin to football/soccer.
The "let's get ready to rumble" tagline has been wildly successful, largely due to the cache that it picked up with the Tyson/Holyfield/Bowe/Lewis era of heavyweight boxing.
Still, when it comes to the skill of announcing and building the spector of an event, there's no one that currently does it better than Jimmy Lennon Jr. And that's the case in Montreal, Mexico City, Moscow, Munich, the MGM Grand in Vegas, or any other venue/locale that you can think of.
You add that Lennon Jr is only 55 (Buffer is 70) and I'm not sure why this is much of a debate tbh.
