We hear about how this is a great win and all, one of the best of Floyd's career etc.. But how good is Canelo really? I like the guy but his limitations are clear to see, many scoff at me when I say I think Manny beats him, Thurman possibly beats him, Cotto beats him, even Bradley could beat him.
Canelo is highly flawed, he's cement footed and has decent hand speed but TERRIBLE stamina, he can't cut the ring off, he's poor at gauging distance, he hasn't convincingly beat anyone who was world class.
Canelo was getting outboxed by ALFONSO GOMEZ for crying out loud
His power is also overrated imo, if Lara wasn't so hesitant he would have beaten him clearly, (Lara is extremely overrated himself).
You know what I think Kirkland might beat him via late round TKO, although the layoff will be hard and rumour has it he's 200lbs.

Same thing can be said about bradley.
If it was so easy to beat canelo, Lara and trout would have done it...
Floyd proved he is levels above world class when he basically toyed with Canelo and dominated,, no one has been able to do that to canelo
Lara and Trout aren't that good.

Canelo is a GREAT pocket fighter with sick skills and veteran tactics. He gets tired sometimes, but he knows how to lay on the ropes and rest. The thing about the victory is Floyd was 37 freaking yrs old, while Canelo was 22. Floyd was 150lbs, while Canelo was 165lbs.
Canelo looked like a giant jumbo man being walked down by a baby. Lara ran around the ring from Canelo, while Floyd's little bitty self walked him down, didnt get touched, hissed, I mean it was phenomenal seeing Canelo get humiliated by a grandpa. I dont think Canelo is greatly proven, but who would win out of a fight between him and a 135lbs Genero Hernandez?
I think Canelo is Floyd's career defining fight based on size, age, dominance, effortlessness. I bet SRL would beat Canelo but I cant name a fighter in history who can walk down someone that much bigger, without getting touched. It looked like CGI affects and the crown actually screamed louder than the Danny Lucas fight which was quiet af.
Canelo-Kirkland, either on the winner or that Kirkland doesn't stop Canelo.
Dunno tbh, Kirkland been out of action for a while, and he looks pretty heavy, there's been rumours he's 200lbs.

It's more that Floyd post Oscar has some pretty crappy wins in a way. Hatton was dragged up but a solid win I can't fault him for. JMM, let's just say he had no business at that weight at that time and still doesn't. Can't fault him for Mosley but he was old. Ortiz was a solid win at the time but it's clear he never had the mental makeup to be a top guy. Cotto was a solid win but like Mosley was later than I'd like, however as far back as Floyd's fight with Gatti it was clear Cotto's people didn't want him in the ring with Mayweather. Guerrero was just a meh fight. He had steam coming into the fight but no one is going to point to this fight as being a great victory in Floyd's career. And then you have Canelo. Mayweather doesn't really belong at 154 or 152 but Canelo was young. This fight is more just Canelo fighting the dumbest fight he could. That's on him. It's a good win because Canelo had tools to make it interesting but Maywearher blew him out of the water.
The problem with Floyd is had he fought Williams, Cotto, Margarito and Pacquaio between 07-10 there would be no denying his greatness. And it's not even that those fighters are greats, it's just they all possessed stylistic problems for Floyd. I still think he wins all those, but my opinion doesn't change history.
Difficult to quantify the win over Alvarez because of his youth...
Canelo was considered at the time to be Floyd's biggest threat outside of Pac...Many doubted it would even happen...But the jury is still out on Alvarez IMO...5-6yrs from now Canelo win may not look as impressive...

LOL, you don't like the guy. Don't say you do.
And that's the best way to assess a fighter. Dig up his fights when he was around 16 years old. That always gives you the best answer on what he is/what he will become.
Drew with Trout due to open scoring disgrace, lost to Lara and gave an absolutely abject performance against Floyd. I'd say he is an average fighter that won't cut it at the highest level. In his defence his draining against Floyd was the worst draining I can remember.

Would you care to place a wager on the fight? Say maybe 20 Trillion?
