I know everyone these days is running with the 'stop negotiating in public' line but I just ran across an old video of Bob Arum and Don King being interviewed by Michelle Tafoya. They were discussing potential co-promotions involving then rising star DLH and the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez. They went on to talk in length about a Foreman (Arum Fighter) and Tyson (King) match. A lot of the issues that plague Manny-Floyd seemed to be issues for that hypothetical fight including the Time Warner/Showtime deal. Watch how Tafoya puts today's so-called journalists to shame by asking pertinent questions and trying to get to the bottom of the issues:
Now why can't we have Arum and Espinoza or better yet Moonves and Plepler in a setting like this with a Journalist who actually knows how to conduct an interview? The 4 minutes or so Tafoya spent grilling Arum and King revealed more than months of countless 'interviews' by people covering the May-Pac fiasco.
One things for sure most of these boxing insiders don't know how to ask the right questions and just let the interviewee dictate the discussion. Dan Rafael is probably the worst at, its a shame he is boxing's most well known writer. Ben Thompson of FightHype asked pretty good questions to Koncz and posted the entire manuscript of their discussion after last week's Miami meeting but he lays down entirely for Mayweather.
I'd love to get Mayweather and Arum in the same room and let Brian Kenny be the mediator.
Why the **** dont they all just sit in a room and hash it out? I dont ****ing get it. Someone is holding something up. Whether its' Arum, Haymon, Floyd, HBO, etc. IDK, but clearly someone is hiding something.
EXACTLY. All this secrecy just lets everyone create whatever narrative they want. Back in 2010 when talks fell apart after Floyd decided to go on vacation, all his people who had been talking about imminent contracts and gag orders all of a sudden flipped the script and claimed no negotiations were going on. It took a while for the Head of HBO to go public and clear the record that talks were in fact conducted.
A real journalist would be able to get the sort of answers that everyone has. And to make it public, transparent, would be the best course of action IMO. No more back room deals and selective media posturing. Just get them on the record, on tape, and ask the tough questions.
That piece of sheet disgusting low life repulsive animal known as floyd is DEAD scared of the fight. He would talk BS on TV all tense knowing in his mind that he is not stepping inside a ring with Pacquiao. That son of a *****, the only **** God pooped on this world, that ****** ****** is a disgrace and just disgusting. He is a coward. **** his entire existence and bloodline.
Seriously, he is a bish and that will be the only thing he'll be remembered for.
Why the **** dont they all just sit in a room and hash it out? I dont ****ing get it. Someone is holding something up. Whether its' Arum, Haymon, Floyd, HBO, etc. IDK, but clearly someone is hiding something.
