Did you guys see the promo for HBO's upcoming fights? Not a single good competitive fight till the end of April. One average fight in Kov-Pascal.
As for showtime, it looks like they don't have any boxing on at all lol.
The next good card on TV is on nbc March 7. That's 6 weeks!
There are no super star fights, that's quite evident but there are some god scraps, here in the UK and abroad. You just have to know when and where to tune in. I'm looking forward to the Smith/AA rematch, Frampton is in action again and in all honesty, Murray/GGG is the best fight to be made if Cotto and Quillin continue to no show and Lee has his mandatory.
I think things will hopefully liven up post April....I hope so anyway. We need to see Wlad fight someone better than Jennings, we need to see Walters and TC fight top level opponent, possibly look for unifications and we need and probably will get Garcia, Khan, Pacquiao, Cotto and Canelo back in action.
When in doubt blame Mayweather.
It's not rocket science. They have obligations to make Mayweather happy and get his $32 million guarantee in every fight. You can imagine the headache of just trying to come up with $32 million to make Mayweather happy.
January is always a ****ty month for matches. February is rarely much better. Boxing has slumps every year since most top fighters do a two-fights-a-year schedule. March-July are always the best fight months of any year. Same with September-December.
Their entire focus is on making PPVs for Mayweather. That's all they've been preparing for every year since they signed him in. The money they expected to make from the PPVs to fund other fights didn't materialize. That's why HBO still beat them in both quality and quantity in 2013 and 2014. This slowdown in fights will never go away until after Mayweather is gone.
When in doubt blame Mayweather.
Very few notable match-ups, but these are the cards I plan to tune into:
-Mora/Han (FNF)
-Pendarvis/Pinell (FNF)
-Rose/Jones (SKY)
-Ormond/Flanagan (BoxNation)
-Dennis/Vukosa (FNF)
-Vasquez/Lartey (ShoBox)
-GGG/Murray (HBO)
-Abraham/Smith (SKY)
-Rodriguez/Gonzalez (FNF)
-Caballero/Guevara (FS1)
-Thompson/Solis 2
-Vargas/Tomlinson (HBO Latino)
-Fury/Hammer (BoxNation)
-Frampton/Avalos
lolol what the hell is this? tekken 3?
According to several European sources, Vasyl Lomachenko is probably fighting on the Klitschko-Jennings HBO card in New York.

Great news!

In 2014, SHO had 24 cards and HBO had 21 cards. A small difference in quantity. SHO probably had many more fights overall, but that isn't necessarily a good thing if the match-ups suck. BoxingScene should have a HBO vs. Showtime thread so we can discuss this year-round.
I went back and looked at shotime championship boxing schedule for last year because I saw people complaining a lot about the fights. Besides maybe like 3-5 main events not being good on paper, a lot of the fights were good and we got to see a lot of the young fighters coming up. You still got 6 fights for eac card and atleast one fight was damn good on the card. Shotime put on some good cards but people complained about a fight on paper. I can think of two fights off the top of my head that people complained about that turned out great, Matthyse/Molina and the one Adonis Stevenson fight. People need to watch the fights inside the ring, and not outside the ring or on paper. I get sick of cheap HBO only giving us two fights per card.
Well, I hope Hymen's plan works because if not, the networks might drop boxing all together and if the national network thing doesn't pan out, well, there goes boxing on TV.
Here is a big difference I see:
Showtime:
3 fights per card, regular Showtime
Showtime Extreme that has undercard fights
Showtime has a series called ShowBox
HBO:
2 fights per card and none of the other items above other than a toprank.tv stream for the undercard.
There is no way to say that HBO is better based on the obvious differences.

Murray vs Golovkin is a solid fight so is Kovalev vs Pascal, you guys acting like girls now. Murray's only loss should have been a W against Martinez and who other than Pascal do you want to see Kovalev against and don't say the other duck Stevenson because we are all aware of his situation

Haymon will likely reveal a Series with Showtime soon as well
It is still so many fights to be made just within his group of fighters so he holds the cards as far as Showtime goes
HBO on the other hand, not really sure what they're waiting for, they have Oscar and GBP back along with Top Rank. Maybe they waiting to see what the Competition has in store before revealing their own fights.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao has the boxing world HOSTAGE right now, either they fight or both can just FUK OFF already. Out with the Old and In With The New! Tired of BOTH to be honest!

Good for him.
Is there any damn fight in February? Like wtf is going on? NBC is the only thing to look forward to in terms of competitive matchups.
