When he reaches a point where he's scared to fight others. Lennox Lewis laid out a perfect blueprint for Floyd Mayweather.
C'mon get real How can you compare Lennox Lewis & Mayweather???
Lennox beat every man he faced in the pro ring he didn't duck anyone. Lennox retired at exactly the right time. Who else was there to fight???
He'd TKO Vitali in 6 when he was barely 80 % in shape so what was the point in doing it again? Wlad took to the hills & hid out he wanted no part of Lennox that's for sure. Ike Ibeabuchi was unavailable so there was no legitimate challenger left
Mayweather on the other hand is the consummate cherry picking ducker. He wont fight anyone that he fears might beat him. Those he has faced he's made beating him practically impossible by only fighting in Vegas where he gets all the advantages like judges with bad eyesight & minders that double as referees
Lennox Lewis is the best HW champ since Ali :boxing: Mayweather is a very talented COWARD!!!!:loser:
When he get blown out by a guy he would have destroyed a fight or 2 ago (martinez/cotto)(jcc sr/odlh)
Brutally k.od on back to back fights (juanma, vasquez, arce,r.marquez)
When you are 3 weight classes above your prime (morales ,jlc )
Like said earlier you know the punch the timing to hit some one but your reflexes are shot
Who knows...there's a million variables that come into play...personal, physical, financial considerations are just a few...i would say it basically is a personal choice...
Depends on the fighter. Some lose the physical and athletic gifts sooner, others lose the hunger and drive. To the degree you lose them and your ability to improve other aspects of your repertoire to compensate for their loss.
When he's afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao ( Floyd only ) other than that when A fighter is taking to much punishment or talks like James Toney or Roger Mayweather
Juanma is a good example. Dude should have retired multiple fights ago.
What are the events that take place with a fighter that call for retirement?
I was thinking about Ali. It's very sad. Very dark.

When you realize you can't pull the trigger like you used to. All older fighters say the same thing. They see the shot, they know the shot, but they just can't let off the punch they way they used to.
Depends, if a fighter has enough money to retire (than maybe consider), if a fighter is in danger of permanent injuries (bad eyes, blood on brain, peeing blood or concussions), the fighter loses his hunger (Tyson at the end) or if there is nothing left to prove as a fighter.
If your trainer, manager or promoter tells you to hang them up (since these 3 make money off you this is a good indicator, Ali's trainer stayed till the end)
Those are the best I could think of.

Yeah thats when you should retire as a sportsman but as a business man you can still go on prizefighting, sadly...
I guess its like any other profession, you retire when you cant do it anymore or when you have enough money so you dont need to do it anymore.. Some stick around cause they dont know what else to do.
