Please explain something to me. How the heck is this supposed to work, if boxing is a GLOBAL sport, not the NFL or the NBA which are national leagues only, that's why you have GLOBAL governing bodies like the WBA and the WBC... or are you suggesting the the United States should monopolize boxing or do an exclusive competition separate from the rest of the world? I mean you already have national tittles, like the NABF belt, don't you?
Are you actually trying to say everything in the sport of boxing was rosy until those three turned up?
Boxing has never been rosy, but these days it is a blatant comedy at top level.
State commissions are almost certainly corrupt. Just look at the horrendous judging faux pas made. These cannot all be inept judging can they??
Yes it needs a National , or better still an International Boxing Commission, & I know the very man to head that commission. Teddy Atlas
OK we all know Teddy is eccentric at times & is prone to going on rampages but he truly LOVES the sport of boxing & would be honest to a fault.
Something needs to be done about the officiating . You don't have to be a boxing expert to see some of the judging & refereeing as blatantly corrupt.
Judges should be held accountable for their actions. When a very suspect card is produced the judge should be hauled before the commission & made to watch a tape & explain his scoring.
Fighters risk their lives every time they enter the ring & they should be able to rely on the system that a fair & just decision is rendered. That is just not the case today. They said boxing was corrupt in the 50's but its just as bad today if not worse. Its just done in a different way :boxing::boxing:
A tape would show the fight from multiple angles. A judge only has one angle from their seat.
What a stupid idea, that would never work. Boxing is a global sport and there is nothing wrong with it except for Floyd, Manny and Al Haymon.

It might not guarantee no corruption but it would lessen it if only it were possible.......unfortunately I see little possibility in implementing such a plan at this point in history. Boxing is the only sport without a single policing organization. With several sanctioning bodies and competing promoters with their own agendas you'd never get everybody on board for any number of reasons, not the least being regulating PED controls which is hard enough in pro cycling which has only one sanctioning body with a recent history of corruption.
It would take an act of congress and I hope they aren't talking about any congressional involvement. There's too much "special interest influence" in congress already, lol.
I'm not sure if this is the answer but things definitely need to be improved
When there are two fighters than speak different languages, there needs to be a bi-lingual ref
If the purpose is to regulate the sport, than one could only assume it would be far less corrupt than it is now.
And supposed governing bodies pretty much condone cheating, by letting Peterson off the hook. Boxing seriously needs regulations.
Too many obvious PED cheating, with old men, and obviously roided out fighters.
If it takes an American organisation to lead the way, or even regulate all big time boxing, since most of it happens in the US anyway, its still good for the sport.
It's just a cry by people who think through emotions and need to express themselves. There's exactly zero evidence to show that a national commission would improve the state of boxing.
The overwhelming majority of big fights still happen in the US. Despite the global nature of the sport, a national governing commission would still have huge influence.
Boxing will never fix itself. Without external pressure, nothing will change. Anyone who tries to change the sport for the better will have some some other crook undercut them.
Teddy would stop the corruption . I'm sure he knows enough honest men that love the sport to assist him. Something has to be done that's for sure.
Today we all know if we're honest that if Floyd did fight Manny in Vegas & both are standing at the final bell Floyd would get the decision regardless.
This is just not right. The best man on the night should get the win not the homie :sad2::boxing:

It is generally wanted for a real single national ranking system and for more accountability. This would be aimed at 1 champion per division as it should be. The Federal Boxing Commission would set the standard across the board for all state commissions and get funding from tax payers I would assume. I am not sure how the alphabet orgs would fall under a US national commission structure.
Well, but we are back to the same, they can determine who the US national champion per division is but in boxing we have WORLD champions, and there are more world champions from outside the US than from the US, and more world championship fights take place outside of the US than the ones that take place in the US.
What would be its purpose and how would it benefit boxing so much? I mean, when I hear people calling for this they talk like is something that would completely change boxing for the better. Each state already has its athletic comission, I guess this would be the same but monopolized at a federal level, I don't get how is that going to change boxing so much for the better.

It would be responsible for all fights that are held in the United States. Foreign fighters would still go through the normal license process per state.
