Roy Jones lacked technical skills, he relied on his athleticism.
That athleticism and reflexes you speak of were other worldly, ya'll must have forgot.
what do you think?
Absolutely! provided Roy has both hands cuffed behind his back and had to stand on one leg you are spot on! you should have an entire section devoted to such insights as this.
olovkin is the real deal and im a massive fan, even bought the GGG Tshirts but WOAH Lets slow down fella's - His Royness!? Already!? Y'all musta forgot after all! Roy operated in a different time zone altogether and would be lighting GGG up with triples and quadruples!
It would be a good fight. You never knew with Jones, he could look stylistically lost and like he was just wasting time then whip out some crazy punch and end it right there. Whether he planned it all along or just relied on his freak speed to rescue him, only he truly knows.
Both he and Golovkin's legacies will suffer from (comparatively) weak opponents but Jones did that all the way to heavyweight and Golovkin seems content to rule 160 (I choose to ignore the current Jones who is really bringing his career down every time he fights).
It's a very tough fight to call. It would basically come down to Golovkin trying to cut him down and Jones looking for holes in Golovkin's defense - and how well Golovkin retained composure after inevitably tasting that speed.
Jones fought much better opposition than Golovkin. You can't seriously make that comparison.

Are you trying to sell his opponents or highlight his lack of good opposition?
If you're trying to sell him and his opponents, that's a bad way of doing so, because putting up a list of his best is literally the worst possible thing you can do because it just highlights how truly terrible his opposition is and has been for a now veteran 33 year old, 31 fight world champion with about 15 title defenses over 4 years.
When the best fighter you've ever faced as a 33 year old, 4 year veteran world champion with 15 or so title defenses, and 31 fights over a near decade long career, is Daniel Geale....you've got issues.
they dont hear u doe

GGG might of already faced Andre Ward if all these other champions didn't take so fucking long to sack up and contribute to Golovkin's crowning as Undisputed Middleweight Champion.
Its crazy to think Golovkin is the Interim WBC champion who is fighting Murray the WBC Silver champion? Ridiculous stuff.
What makes you think they'll eventually fight him? I think he's pretty much wasting his time at 160. If the Canelo/Cotto winner doesn't fight him then I think he should move up right away.
Golovkin hasn't fought anyone? But Stevens, Macklin, Proksa, Geale, and Rubio were all top 10 contenders when GGG fought them.

I love GGG but I have to see him actually beat a top level fighter before I compare him to past greats, especially a beast like prime Roy.
Who asked for some well thought out logic in this thread?

Roy said it himself that he didn't want to do that to guys. He would carry fighters man. People really fail to appreciate just how great a fighter he was. I as much as anyone wished he faced a few different fighters to make it so his resume were up to par with his abilities that's why he will never be ATG 1. But skills and abilities wise, he is the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves.
He really did carry a lot of guys, IMO that was a silly thing to do....if he fought in Griffin mode he could have been categorized with SRR IMO. I get the sentiment behind it and I think everyone would have to admit he had another gear we rarely got to see, but in a way I think it's disrespectful to take it easy on anyone in any sport. People come along in every sport that make the sport adapt to them like Gretzky(I'm from Canada) and Woods. If those guys took it easy they wouldn't have made their respective sports so much better. Not that guys didn't emulate Roy, I just think he could have been so much more.
Love GGG, but have to agree. To clown good/great fighters like he did was out of this world and you can't help but feel like he was playing most of the time(hand behind back)
For the rematch with Griffin he was done playing and showed what a PO'd Roy could do and it was kind of scary. Hard to find anyone in history to touch that Roy IMO
